Also, that Foxface is from District 5, electricity and power, and would likely not know much about the nightlock prior to the games. If Foxface was in the right conditions, i.e starving, scared, defenseless, she most certainly wouldn’t question the berries that two capable tributes were preparing to eat themselves. i think katniss thought she was too opportunistic and unpredictable to trust, saying the alliance would only get her a knife in her back. but yeah still, she would have been an awesome ally
I personally think she didn’t know the berries were poisonous. The common theory I hear is “she knew she could win in a fight against Cato/Katniss/Peeta so she killed herself” but from her interview with Caesar it seemed clear that she was confident she could outmatch her opponents with knowledge, not strength.
That would explain how she survived that long without killing anyone. Like the Morphlings from district 6. They survived the hunger games by hiding till everyone was dead without killing anyone while they were camouflaging themselves.
she had likely watched the previous games and knew they wouldn't want to let it go on much longer, and that usually means the heavy stuff gets sent out. she saw the most painless, fastest way out and like the smart girl she was, she took it.
I’ve been reading the comments and it seems to be a debate of wether she accidentally died or she k!lled herself, but taking into consideration how smart she was and that her skillset relied on the knowledge she had, being a step ahead always and even developing the ability to recognize plants (specially to know which of them to eat, aligning with her strategy of not going after people, involving herself in fights or predating other contestants), her death becomes a little ironic, and almost forshadowed. I doubt she didn’t know the berries were poisonous. Maybe the starving situation hazed her mindset, but something’s off. But also, it’s really difficult to write a satisfying ending in accordance with a tribute whose most prominent trait are her brains
She definitely did not know the berries were poisonous. She’s smart but the berries only grow outside of district 12. She was a kid, the games have been almost 2 weeks in and she was hungry. She saw Peeta collecting them & didn’t think much by it. Even in the book, she actually steals, not only the berries from them but also cheese. So why would she steal cheese from them if she wanted to kill herself anyway?
@@ezemilionis7842 That's the point of the books, we all get drawn into the competition part of the games, looking for storylines and arcs but Foxface's death is to show that there's just a kid in a crappy situation trying not to die and that's just it
I didn't see it as anticlimactic, it made a lot of sense to me. In the book she had been stealing food from Katniss and Peeta for 2 days then. Peeta himself didn't know those berries were poisonous even though he was from district 12 (they only grew on the outskirts of 11 and 12). Thus, she probably didn't think they were poisonous either. Even Katniss herself comments on this saying that if they had tried to purposefully poison her it wouldn't have worked because she would have known. Also, Katniss noted prior that nightlock berries was not one of the berries that was taught about in the training room. @@ezemilionis7842
Foxface (Finch apparently is her name) is easily my favorite non Katniss tribute. Part of me still wants her to win every time I rewatch/reread the story.
It could've gone either way. In the film, Foxface is quizzing herself on plants which means there's no way she didn't know what would happen. Katniss notes that she looked emaciated after she dies, so she would've probably died of starvation either way once Katniss and Rue took out the Careers' food and it just wasn't worth risking it to see who died of hunger first, especially if the Gamemakers forced them to fight regardless. Even if she survived on whatever nonpoisonous berries there were for as long as possible, she'd still eventually have had to deal with Cato and Katniss if not the Gamemakers. So, I think it's safe to say she just wanted to go out on her own terms while making it look like an accident to the Capital, so her family wouldn't be punished for her "insolence" or "rebellious behavior" in the end. I mean, chances are she wasn't a bad person. Sly, sure, and smart as hell, but when she first bumps into Katniss, it could've gone either way. Both of them still had their strength and she probably could've outmaneuvered Katniss if she really wanted to take her out, but she kept to herself and didn't make enemies. I think it would've been better if Katniss and Peeta formed an alliance with Thresh and Foxface to take out the careers, but I also think Foxface's ending works for her since she clearly didn't want to hurt anyone or be hurt in return and could go out on her own terms while protecting her family.
I wonder if she had won the games, if Peeta didn't put the berries to the little food collection of him and Katniss. Katniss knew the berries from hunting in the woods with her dad, Peeta and Foxface didn't know they were pure poison. But in the books Cato got a metal shield from his sponsors to protect his upper body from Katnisses arrows, which was the reason the muts couldn't kill him, so Katniss ended it about an hour after he fell from the cornucopia. I'm also quite sure, he killed Thresh.
Intelligent but not knowledgeable enough to know the nightlocks since it only grow in district 12 and 13. I doubt that she killed herself like most people say.
Firmly believe she committed suicide with the berries knowing her chances towards the end were slim once the rules changed and that the berries would’ve been the most painless death. During her training session, she’s shown testing herself on what seems like plant biology and she also makes sure to point out her intellect during the interview process. Those two things were shown for a reason. She knew what she was doing.
If you’re speaking in the movie’s context, then it’s plausible. But when they collected Foxface’s body in the books, Katniss notes that she is emaciated. She was starving and needed food lest she die. During the training session, it’s a test focused on memory and Katniss herself even says they excluded the Nightlock from being a choice. It grew exclusively on the outskirts of District 12 and the only reason Katniss has prior knowledge of it was because of her father and because she hunts outside of the bordering fences. Foxface would have no knowledge of what the berries were. When both Katniss and Peeta found her body, she not only carried the stolen berries with her, but also bits of cheese. If she was attempting to kill herself, why not just take the berries alone? It’s because she was desperate, she was starving, and her tactic was stealing food from the other tributes to survive. She knew both Peeta and Katniss were from 12, a place surrounded by woodlands, and if they were gathering the berries to eat then she likely believed them to be safe to consume. Her death is rather ironic because her cleverness is what killed her in the end.
You also have to note that she knew her way around the bombs in order to take the food from the Careers. She’s described as being almost at ease and graceful with her steps. She wasn’t perturbed, she wasn’t troubled, and she was quick with her footwork to get in and out. That speaks of experience. She’s taken food from them before. Her strategy worked around taking barely noticeable amounts from the tributes food supplies without arousing suspicion and just enough for her to be sustained. The Careers were often out hunting the other tributes and they wouldn’t think that someone would be camped close by. Knowing how clever Foxface is, you can guess that this was another step in her strategy. When Rue and Katniss destroyed what little food was left that the Careers had, her means of survival was also taken away. They were weeks into the games and with the gap in between when this happened and her death, she was running out of options. She was starving.
i still believe it was accidental, she wouldn't have gone through the effort of stealing if she wanted to kill herself, and she was 2 weeks into the games, there was a slim chance she remembered every single possible berry in Panem, especially when she was starving and she trusted peeta and katniss's judgment
To all who comment she committed suicide. She didn’t. She was obviously desperate for food. There was no training for night lock. She was just a starving child trying new food.
She was my fav character and I luv how she didn't resort to physical fighting and she relied on stealth agility and like she said Intelligence.... If only she had something she didn't.. food... I gasped when I saw her dead.. I think she was about to starve so she ate Berrys on purpose even tho she knew they were poisonous.. Thats her skill so I would assume she probably killed herself..
It scared me sm when I read that she was laughing at the career’s blown up supplies in the book- it creeped me out because of how she was described as foxface- like imagine a girl that looks like a fox laughing and she said it was like a creepy laugh
Nightlock grew in D12, so she would've never known. She also was starving because it said she was very thin in the books and also she probably believed that Peeta wouldn't be so dumb and pick poisonous berries since he's literally an ally with Katniss and Peeta was a baker. Also, she's from D5, the power district so she's smart with technology and stuff like that. Her eating a poisonous berry doesn't make her any dumber. Also, it could've been suicide.
@@SecureHandle I believe that she didn't commit suicide but a lot of people also think that so I said that as well not because I believed it but because it's also another way to look at FoxFace's death
Because if it was a suicide, she infact won by betraying the game makers and going on her own terms, not being just another pawn in their games, staying true to her statement that brain is the biggest weapon
On the contrary she actually was really smart. She ended up making it to 4th place just by hiding and sneaking other peoples food/water supplies. She was known to have a great understanding of all the plants, but it states in the book that nightlock berries only grow in district twelve, so not being from 12 she wouldn’t have known about them. Plus Peeta collected them under the pretense of eating them, so he didn’t know they were poisonous. Fox face being about 14 days into the hunger games was probably starting to become delirious, hungry, and weak. She assumed Peeta would have picked the right berries, as he was planning to eat them, snatched them up quickly, ran away and eaten them. I’m assuming she didn’t take a close look, because the berries look very similar and you’d have to look closely to see they are different.
She only ate the berries because Katniss blew up the careers biggest weapon and food source, which fox face stole from. So she knew she was either going to die from dehydration, or starvation, so she ate the berries for a quick and painless death
I think for sure she killed herself . I think in the movie they specifically wanted to show that she is SO SMART and she played the games with the herbs to explicitly show that SHE KNOWS STUFF ABOUT HERBS . Then to show you she died by eating poisonous berries is to show you SHE IS SMART AND KNOW ABOUT HERBS YET SHE STILL ATE IT showing that she killed herself . I mean why else would they show those specific scenes of herbs and emphasise on her smartness . Right? Idk that’s just ma view
She didn’t kill herself. She was really smart tactically, but we don’t know her knowledge on plants. Those “herbs” you’re referring to are just leaf symbols on a game board, it’s to test her quick thinking and cognitive skills, she wasn’t learning anything about plants. Plus if she really knew what those berries were then there would’ve been no reason for her to be following peeta who was picking them.
Yea ready ok Katniss and rue ok good 😊 Rue dies 😢 Katniss and the kid THATS NAME AFTER BREAD 🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫 He should die Katnisss and foxface ( her names finch I googled it ) 👍👍👍 Prob would have won
A interesting theory is that she was part of the rebellion and killed herself so peeta and Katniss could win because she knew her berries well as observed in the training
The rebellion hadn’t started before Katniss became a symbol for it, so it couldn’t be true. Also the game you mentioned is about memory, not plant knowledge

Pretty sure Foxface was the Only character that didn’t even attempt to kill 1 tribute throughout the entire games, all scenes show her Fleeing.
If she meant her real opponents as the capitol, then she did win against them by going on her own terms so it can be looked that way too
0:15 I think in the movie it was only Katniss who referred to her as Foxface but well 😂 movies are always a little different
That would explain how she survived that long without killing anyone. Like the Morphlings from district 6. They survived the hunger games by hiding till everyone was dead without killing anyone while they were camouflaging themselves.
i feel like if fox face had lived in district 12, her & katniss would've been friends.
she had likely watched the previous games and knew they wouldn't want to let it go on much longer, and that usually means the heavy stuff gets sent out. she saw the most painless, fastest way out and like the smart girl she was, she took it.
Read the books, she didnt kill herself,c'mon
if i went into the hunger games, i would want to die like foxface did, a fast and painless death
But I want to win and survive
@@ИванСоколов-з7д i know if i died then thats how i would want to have it, but of course i would want to win
she was so honestly underrated
R.I.P Finch Crossly, A.T.T. ??- A.T.T. 74
she’s so queenie
@@sweetener. if that's the case, it's a very anticlimactic death for such a clever character
@@ezemilionis7842 That's the point of the books, we all get drawn into the competition part of the games, looking for storylines and arcs but Foxface's death is to show that there's just a kid in a crappy situation trying not to die and that's just it
@@jmeblomfield i don't think so, but we can disagree. All of them are kids, always. But it is a book, and the characters need their own development
Part of me still wants her to win every time I rewatch/reread the story.
realistically she might’ve won if she just hid out
Yeahmaybe
thats queen queen
No one else was doing it like her
0:51 HAHAHA seems like they are scaring eaxh other and waiting who will attack first and but not guts to do it hahahha
They are kids, not murderers
She's smart
foxface was bumping katniss
What does bumping mean? Some slang?
She's a beauty. She might have gotten a 5 training score, but she was a 10 in the looks department.
REAL and her character was such a slay
the actress who played foxface should play mary jane if they decide to put mary jane in the mcu.
She ate that computer
she's an icon
Intelligent but not knowledgeable enough to know the nightlocks since it only grow in district 12 and 13. I doubt that she killed herself like most people say.
She looks like a robot 😭
HELP
The books tell a different story. A more tragic one.
i still believe it was accidental, she wouldn't have gone through the effort of stealing if she wanted to kill herself, and she was 2 weeks into the games, there was a slim chance she remembered every single possible berry in Panem, especially when she was starving and she trusted peeta and katniss's judgment
I’m kinds grateful that they didn’t scrap Foxface charachter like they did with Teslee in the new movie
It’s that one scene when Katniss and FoxFace weee just going ,”huh” “heh and “ha”
To all who comment she committed suicide. She didn’t. She was obviously desperate for food. There was no training for night lock. She was just a starving child trying new food.
Trying new food huh

Sad that the deleted scene would have made her death make 0 sense but damn Ida liked to see more of her
I agreee!!!!
Aishhh, that's why i want to read the book because the movie was missing this kind of detail 😂😂😂
To be honest,I think that Fox face is a clever tribute
hey I think she cute
she so beautiful
she prefect

she was one of my favourite characters sad she had to die
I honestly think she would have made for a good main character if it wasn’t Katniss
Me too
She was right in theory at least for her sake but sadly she wasn’t smart enough to realize those berries were poisonous
Oh wow, they cut all her speaking lines from the movie?
I’d be annoyed.

Was fox face considered pretty like glimmer and the blond in the first movie?
No. She was literally considered to look like a fox
she's acc gorgeous
I just wish she actually tried winning the games
i never noticed she moves like a fox
I love this tribute 🥹
i wonder what her actual name was
Finch
Is foxface her real name? 🦊
I’m pretty sure her name might be finch?? But I don’t know if it’s been confirmed
I'm very smart
eat's a poisonous berry
Me: bro
Nightlock grew in D12, so she would've never known. She also was starving because it said she was very thin in the books and also she probably believed that Peeta wouldn't be so dumb and pick poisonous berries since he's literally an ally with Katniss and Peeta was a baker. Also, she's from D5, the power district so she's smart with technology and stuff like that. Her eating a poisonous berry doesn't make her any dumber. Also, it could've been suicide.
let's remember she's a kid
@@marangelysgonzalez8203Because of the reasons you listed yourself it was absolutely not a suicide.
@@SecureHandle I believe that she didn't commit suicide but a lot of people also think that so I said that as well not because I believed it but because it's also another way to look at FoxFace's death
i never noticed the greenscreen in her interview
I don’t remember her speaking in the movie was it a deleted scene?
Yup
That was Mary Jane in the thumbnail😭😭😭😭😭😭
Foxface was also rather foxy.
Why does she blink like that?
Because Cato was like talking about how the Hunger Games is fun and cool during the interview and stuff like that
I still don’t understand why she would kill herself if she believed no weapons could match a brain
Because if it was a suicide, she infact won by betraying the game makers and going on her own terms, not being just another pawn in their games, staying true to her statement that brain is the biggest weapon
this diva
But didn’t she eat poison berries so she wasn’t that smart 😬
She reminds me of Anya Taylor Joy
It did bc she died by eating poisonous berrys
“I’m very smart” but apparently not a berry expert I see
But not clever enough!
I think that she ate the berries in order to warn Peeta not to eat them. She knew that it would kill her
I'm sorry foxface I take Barry with me ok
Menos mal le pusieron comadreja en español porque hubiera sido raro escuchar “cara de zorra” 💀
She only ate the berries because Katniss blew up the careers biggest weapon and food source, which fox face stole from. So she knew she was either going to die from dehydration, or starvation, so she ate the berries for a quick and painless death
Ela pisca muito
Yea ready ok
Katniss and rue ok good 😊
Rue dies 😢
Katniss and the kid THATS NAME AFTER BREAD 🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫🚫
He should die
Katnisss and foxface ( her names finch I googled it ) 👍👍👍
Prob would have won
A interesting theory is that she was part of the rebellion and killed herself so peeta and Katniss could win because she knew her berries well as observed in the training
The rebellion hadn’t started before Katniss became a symbol for it, so it couldn’t be true. Also the game you mentioned is about memory, not plant knowledge
fun fact: in the book, the original name for her character is CvntFace. and she is the only tribute who is not only smart, but also can squirt her clyt juice into the enemy's face. make them temporarily blind. thus she fights only with a crop top and no pants. #issafact
Wait did the host say thank you flinch/finch? Lovely to see you here
