Clove was the scariest tribute. Even to this say she still scares me. They couldn't have found a better actress to play her. The on screen presence is amazing.

@@Rudeljaeger Yes, however the gamemakers allowed two tributes to win so long as they were from the same district, which they are. However, they would have done the same as they did with Peta and Katniss and had them kill eachother for the one spot.
@@JJMcLuvinto further support this claim, we can cite the book: Katniss remarks to the reader that ‘Cato and Clove were probably celebrating, being the only other district with both members alive’ or something to that effect. Clove and Cato could have won the 74th Hunger Games together, just as Marvel and Glimmer could have. Would the gamemakers revoke the ‘two victors’ policy at the end, like they did with Katniss and Peeta, or would they have allowed two career tributes to exit the games victorious? I always wonder when reading or watching the first movie/novel as to what Cato and Clove, and Marvel and Glimmer, would have done about a singular victor game.

@@RudeljaegerI can actually agree with you in a way, because Katniss and Peetah had been working together and has great teamwork they knew that the system was unjust, but if Clove and Cado had stayed alive and made it to the end I doubt they would’ve thought about trying to eat the berries, I’m pretty sure they would’ve just tried to k8ll each other.
I liked her looks, skill, and confidence. She definitely had a great chance at winning.

She did didn’t she. Well, unfortunately Catpiss Neverclean came and decided to be the main character (I still love katniss tbh)
Isabelle actually auditioned for the role of Katniss and she would have made a great Katniss; the slender, agile, and young look of Isabelle during that time fit right into what Katniss is described to be in the books, and the dark hair, eyes, and freckles would have matched Katniss too. Isabelle was around 14 around shooting the first movie, and Katniss would have been 15, so the ages line up really well. Of course, for practical reasons, having a 14 year old girl in a big budget action movie series with all the laws about working hours etc would have been a difficult work-around. Also Jennifer Lawrence was way more popular and therefore more profitable. She helped stir the buzz around the films that wouldn’t have been possible with Isabelle.
It’s great that they still allowed her to be apart of the franchise though. She did so well with the little screen time she got, and though the book version of Clove is a lot more physically menacing (taller, meatier maybe), Isabelle’s version is menacing due to her mental state. She’s described to be a bit unhinged in the books too, but Isabelle brought that out so well and helped make that a distinguishable quality through her posture and nuanced facial expressions. So what Isabelle didn’t have in height or brawniness, she made up for with her visual craziness.
Idk why, but Jennifer Lawrence playing Clove and Isabelle playing Katniss would've made more sense.

@@lotusstargirl5507 in the movie, they sadly weren’t in love nor a couple, this was confirmed multiple times. Because of Isabelle was very young that time. Cato and Glimmer was a thing. In the book tho they were, yeah but not in the movie. So I think Clove looks at Katniss to mock her.

Nah katniss had weaknesses that she works on. Clove was just highly skilled from the beginning and had nothing but her arrogance to improve on

Considering how good she was in Orphan… no shocker she was able to pull off the character. In the scene where she was gonna kill Katness.. all I could picture was Ester lol
I'm extremely surprised she didn't get an 11 and Katniss did. She literally has extreme precision and confidence and was probably the best competitor- the only issue was she took too long in glory and talking to katniss lmao.
The 11 was a punishment by the game makers for her stunt with the apple during her private training session. It made her a target to the careers.
@@maxwellpauric00 Was it? How Seneca explained it to Snow wasn't punishment. He said "She earned it". She and Peeta were punished a year later during the quarter quell when they each got a 12 to make them targets.

I’m not surprised at all. She got killed by someone with a score of an 8, whereas Katniss actually won. Katniss was dead accurate and very bold, Clove was just accurate.

Thanks to Clove who threw that knife. It actually, ironically, saved Katniss.
Yup! Also if she didn’t throw the second Katniss can’t use it to cut down the tracker jacket branch which would lead to her getting the bow.
I also love that Katniss watched Clove throw knives at center mass on the training targets and instinctively raised her backpack to block her center mass once she saw Clove raise her knife
The fact that she is smaller than her book counterpart makes her all the more terrifying but her death is key to the story. It shows that even her, this mass murder is still just like all the other tributes a scared child who’s about to die. That speech in mockingjay wouldn’t hit as hard if she didn’t turn into a scared teenaged girl briefly. Great writing ❤

Because all Clove wanted was to win and go home, and in order to win, she had to be tough and kill people even if she didn’t want to.

I’ve always considered that especially cruel. On top of the barbaric thing of forcing children to kill other children, they have to go in there with someone they know and may be friends with and they can’t even reliably team up because they can’t both win. They’d have to split up before it gets down to too few, lose each other early, or betray each other. You can’t have a single friend you won’t lose.

Clove was my favorite. From reading the book I was expecting a taller Charecter to play her. Then her acting was amazing and she killed the personality of Clove. Loved it lovd her
Clove reminds me of Azula from ATLA. She has a lot of similar facial expressions and features. Her overall demeanor is I will bring down whoever gets in my way.

Clove got what she deserved in the end, she may have not actually killed Rue but she was so proud of what happened to her. Unlike many others she actually enjoyed the Hunger Games.

in the books, clove is described as being 50-100 pounds heavier than Katniss and much taller. this is y it would make sense that she could hold her down in the books. clove tackling katniss is a significant part of the story so they couldn’t leave it out of the movie; although, the actresses weight and height don’t exactly make the scene realistic.

I don't exactly know why they cast Isabelle due to how different she is physically to the book and how important that is, but she did an amazing job and it was the right decision
A lot of comments about Isabelle Fuhrman in Orphan, but I see very few about Fuhrman’s performance in The Novice, which is equally as powerful and terrifying as her other roles.
This was her best performance I think, The Novice is amazing, I don’t know why people don’t talk about it

Realistically, during the feast scene, Cato and Clove would have stuck together and most likely have killed Katniss and won.
Imagine how the game makers would of reacted if Cato and Clove really were the last standing tributes. Because they decided, to mess with Katniss, to change the rules for two victors to be crowned if both were from the same district. Clove and Cato were from the same district, so it makes me wonder why Cato wasn't with Clove when Thresh attacked her. But anyway, would they have allowed both of them to go home or would they still revert the rule back to one victor at the last second?
Would Cato and Clove tried to kill each other? That's what I'm curious about.

What’s sort of sad about Clove’s death is that she and Cato were both from district 2. When the double victor option was announced for Katniss and Peeta, Cato and Clove were also given that opportunity. It no doubt gave them both a new sense of companionship and trust that neither of them had had since the game started. They just had three more competitors left to take out, and they BOTH could have gone home.
Cato never showed it, but he likely was deeply scared by her death knowing what was lost.
