    As a father of a 7 year old girl. I loved the part when your little girl was asking you about the earth worms. Kids are so curious and fun. Happy fathers day weekend brotha!

    Looks great and just what I need here in South Louisiana. I am wondering if you will be making plans available for purchase. I could have one built for us. We are in our 70's and last year Hurricane Ida demolished our workshop that was 20x24 and 15 feet tall with a floored attic. Termite damage to the base caused the whole thing to shift. Each year the house and workshop were treated but they must have used water and no chemicals. We are so grateful for a kind Spanish Brotherhood group that came to demo it. Twelve me had it down and hauled away in 4 hours. We were blessed indeed by such loving kindness.

    You were the very first homesteading channel I found and you're still an inspiration. Great ingenuity and a willingness to just jump in and do instead of waiting for the perfect solution to all things.

    I like it! I was looking for a way to make a couple of my 200W panels portable that I can take in or out as I need (until someone allows me to mount them permanently in our yard!). I am thinking of starting it on a decent hand truck that we have that is not used very often, and make it so I can attach or detach from the handtruck as needed.
    I'm not crazy of having to screw and unscrew those outer wings to the panel each time you use it. I may put a flat metal bracket on the outsides of the panels and use a 1/4 inch pin to go through that bracket into a hole on the end cap of the 2x4. Then have a light retainer cable or string on the end of that pin to keep from loosing it when not in use.

    This set up is awesome! Solar panels are something I'd like to incorporate into my own greenhouse one day. Until then, I like to watch videos such as this one to gain more information! This channel has inspired me to create my own content to share with others to further education on garden/farm life! Keep up the great work!

    Nice build! Only suggestion I can make is to drill through the rear support brace for pins to prevent it from collapsing.

    Nice build. I have seen a lot of folks use the BougeRV panels. I am considering making my truck a solar stations. That way we have portable power for camping and bringing electric to a job site.

    Such a genius design to have have a portable solar generator. I just got a couple 100W solar panels, unfortunately just in time for winter in upstate NY, but maybe I can build something over the winter to power my EcoFlow.

    I did a similar project with old push mower frame,just removed junk motor.i angle the panels w/ handle lever & some leg supports.the 4 wheels keeps it quite sturdy.i just push it in the garage if winds gust 45+mph 🤓

    This is great! I was wondering how I was going to mount my solar panels outside. The thought of them just being propped up on the ground did not sit well with me. I'm gonna do something similar to what you did. I will use a metal dolly instead and build onto that because I don't have the skills and tools to do one from scratch like you did. I got 2 of those 180 watt panels from BougeRV. Thank you soooo much for sharing. :-)

    LOOKS GOOD BROTHER!! Yes sir I would 100% put in a stake. I had over the past 20 years seen more than 20+ solar panels get pushed over from wind and brake. They can put up with a LOT more than you think. Thanks for sharing. God Bless Brother..

    As soon as you said add a hitch for your mower, I thought, use your kick stand for dual purpose. Put a stop on the inside so that the kick stand can't go past fully up, drill a hole through the bottom board and make a removable hitch with some threaded rod (bent to an L). Use a couple of nuts and washers to secure rod in bottom board and you could either use another nut to hook it to the mower or drill it for a pin. When you get to where you want to set up, take the cart side nut off, remove the hitch and you already have the hole to stake it down. Might have to strap in the battery pack,

    Hey I'm not one to tell people there business but you should use the push stick next to the fence. That is the board that will shoot back. I have seen one kick back and hit someone in the man parts and he lost one of the set. I have been a carpenter for 30+ years. Dont want you to get hurt.

      I was about to write the same. Every time he used the table saw I was cringing. The piece between the fence and blade is the one you have to be 300% aware of. Specially NO hands or fingers close to that area. Please be safe using that TableSaw.

    I have a couple of the those panels they work well. I have pulled as much as 471 watts to charge my ecoflow delta2. I use two 180 panels to run my office w/ all my computer equipement. No AC.

  • @PubnicoExpat
    @PubnicoExpat 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I was surprised you got 280 watts from the panels with the little support in front of the panels casting a small shadow on the panels. I have a monocrystaline panel and if it has a slight shadow on it the wattage drops by 95%. Also, a cheap, well pretty much free way to make a tool to aim the panels is to take a spray can cover and screw it upside-down to a white piece of wood. Point it at the sun and when it cast no shadow you are at the perfect angle.

    Your bracket at the bottom of the panels is shading the panels slightly. that does make a difference.

    Use bolt on I bolts for the leg anchors and you can use rebar stakes to anchor to the ground.By the way I am going to use the panels I just bought and they are 330 watt panels so I would make two of these.The panels I were only about $0.67 per watt

    What if you had some sort of lock that would slide or twist into the groove behind the solar panel (maybe on the sides and bottom) so that you don't have to get your hands back there to screw in a nut every time?

  • @PatrickWagz
    @PatrickWagz 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Looks great. 2 details:
    Is there any risk of the 'kickstand' collapsing back into its 'stowed position' and allowing the whole thing to fall over?
    2nd, the little wood bracket at the bottom front is creating some shade on the bottom edge of the panels, and blocking about 2 watts of sunlight!!
    HA!

    • @SSLFamilyDad
      @SSLFamilyDad  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Someone else mentioned that there was shade on the panel and I didn't know what they were talking about, now I see it! lol. Yes, right now it can collapse backward so I need to make a pin or some way to lock that leg in place

  • @krisbrixon
    @krisbrixon 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Cool idea, but I think you are using the push stick wrong, you push on the part between the blade and the bar to prevent kick back, the off side does not kick back.

    • @SSLFamilyDad
      @SSLFamilyDad  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use a push stick for two purposes, one to prevent kickback, two to keep my fingers away from the blade.

    • @ChadSmithakaCCG
      @ChadSmithakaCCG 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SSLFamilyDad I appreciate your time and effort on the video. It was very informative. Please do some research on kickbacks and the proper use of push sticks, perhaps look into adding a feather board as well. You really had me concerned a couple of times.

      What does melamine mean? I’m trying to educate myself about solar😁🇺🇸

  • @ghostridergale
    @ghostridergale 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Man if you’re planning on using this outside in the elements you should be using exterior materials or better yet waterproof materials. That particular board / vinyl material going to fall apart into saw dust from the moisture/rain in no time! Odds are you’ll be having to rebuild/remake it in 3-6 months depending on your weather there? Maybe sooner?

    • @SSLFamilyDad
      @SSLFamilyDad  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is only meant for portable temporary use, not to sit outside in the rain and snow. Also, I used a deck sealer stain on the whole thing

    • @ghostridergale
      @ghostridergale 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry guy, but even with the best sealer in the world that particle board will still not hold up to moisture, especially since your edges won’t get any sealer on it nailed to your side boards. I’m a contractor/ cabinetmaker with over 40 years experience. I promise you it won’t hold up. But it’s already made obviously, so you’ll see for yourself soon enough!

    Love your videos, but please watch a couple on how to use a tablesaw. They can be very dangerous if used improperly. I was holding my breath and hoping while watching you not use a push stick on the fence side of the blade. A pinched, unrestricted piece there can cause kickback that can injure or kill you.
