    Speaker:
Carol Ann Darwin is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who holds a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist Certificate (CEDRD) with the International Association for Eating Disorder Professionals. She is a proud graduate of Texas Christian University. Throughout her 20 plus years in practice, Carol Ann has worked with patients struggling with food and body image issues in out-patient setting, hospitalized patients in a treatment center and an intensive out-patient program. Her practice is limited to treating anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, compulsive overeating, avoidant restrictive food intake disorder, and orthorexia. Her patients have ranged in age from 8-65+.
She is currently working with Girls to Women/Young Men’s Health and Wellness Clinic. The clinic specializes in the treatment of 10-25 year olds with issues such as ADHD, depression, anxiety, and eating disorders. There are four physicians, two nurse practitioners, five therapist and two registered dietitians working together to treat the patient and help their families with their journey for their specific need. However, they are not limited to working within their clinic as they all work with professionals outside of the practice.
As continued education is a requirement, Carol Ann enjoys the opportunity to learn and network with professionals in her field. She accrues approximately 15-20 hours yearly learning from the experts in the fields of nutrition, treatment modalities, neurobiology, and behavioral change techniques. Carol Ann has individually and/or, collaboratively, given 75-100 presentations in her career with audiences from daycares to physicians.
Working with eating disordered patients and their families is her passion, but her mission is prevention. Each of her patients have their own story and struggle, but with client-centered nutritional therapy and a compassionate, knowledgeable dietitian it is possible to find a peaceful relationship with food, weight and body image issues. And with each presentation, there is hope that the audience wants to learn how they can help with prevention.
