    The 1000 Mile Boot looks much more balanced with a thicker outsole. Gotta love the denser welt stitch too.
    Very clean job as usual, Brian !

      These are very comfortable boots with the original sole thickness, and heel heights.
      This makeover resembles the 1000 Mile Evans and Cap Toe lines.

    My teenager does not understand craftsmanship, sorry to say. She was saying "I don't understand the whole concept. Why not just buy a new pair?" I am trying to explain it to her: when boot uppers are broken in and still intact, when only the sole is worn, when you want to.get the full value of the boot. Any other suggestions? She's 16, and values nothing, tbh. She's my niece and is visiting but it's a common ethic in her age group, the ones that live in the city, and have families that don't understand crafts. Your work is beautiful, Brian, and I appreciate your craft and excellent workmanship so much!

    • @logansmith9437
      @logansmith9437 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well they most likely have been used to having to buy a new pair of shoes every year because they don't fit anymore. And also they aren't wearing styles like these that take abuse every week. The only way they will learn is to have them experience owning something like this first. Maybe check on ebay for some decently priced Chippewa or red wing boots for them as a birthday or Christmas present.

      Just tell her she feels that way because she never owned anything worth keeping and repairing. I mean, most of the crap at the mall is disposable anyway. Unless you really feel that pride of ownership its not something you can understand. Also, have her look into Frye boots. They are top notch and have some cool Women's styles.

    • @ahwhite2022
      @ahwhite2022 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Speaking only for myself, I find the 1000 mile boot line to be plenty roomy enough to squeeze in a separate insole (and a pretty thick one at that, I use the green Superfeet) with the arch support you need. My plantar fasciitis is an ever-present factor in what shoes or boots I buy, and if I can't either fit in or swap out insoles, the shoes or boots just don't get bought. No issue with these.

    Brian, I have a question about going from a full sole to a half sole. Does having a half sole make the boot overall height of the shoe shorter? In other words, if you took the same set of boots and one had a full sole and the other had a half sole, would they stand at different heights? Thanks in advance. I look forward to sending you my 1000 miles soon as soon. I sent a resole inquiry form in yesterday :)

    • @klausbecker4745
      @klausbecker4745 ปีที่แล้ว

      if you add a halfsole to an allready existing full sole you'd also build up the heel to keep the balance, so the boot would actually be higher. Otherwise the height would be exactly the same if the soles are the same thickness. but usually the heel LOOKS taller with a halfsole because the missing substance of a full sole between midsole and heel would be addet to the heel stack.
