- Sedans might be going out of style, but that hasn't stopped some brands from releasing all-new models that come in this body type. Case in point: MG Philippines has officially unveiled the 2023 MG GT, the newest offering in the compact sedan segment. It comes in two different variants: the MG GT Alpha, priced at P938,888, and the turbocharged MG GT Sport, priced at P1,098,888. We’ve taken both units for a quick drive, and we’re giving you a quick overview as well as our first impressions in this video.

These cars are in Australia now, marketed as MG5 vibe and essence. I test drove both and bought the non turbo vibe. I liked the CVT better than the dual clutch transmission. I don't need a sports car, just something to get to work and back.
Same, I test drove the Vibe and decided to get the Essence. Great car with a lot of value for the price.

CVTs get their hate, and some are bad but many are efficient, smooth and refined.

Subcompact with an engine of a compact. I'm betting on the Sport variant. It's like the engine of a Honda Civic ( 1.5L turbo gasoline ) was put to the body of a Honda City then paired to DCT instead of CVT at an attainable price.
Rear looks like the MG6. Pogi din yan but it didn't seem to sell as well (same as the RX5).

Does the Alpha variant also has those fake exhaust tips too?
Apart from that, the not-so-attractive stance/fitment(compared to the MG6) and the multimedia-integrated climate control(bummer), this is quite an interesting MG overall. Looking forward to test one out too
Isa sa pinaka sporty design lower variant siguru mas matubay kasi naka NA engine at hindi turbo at hindi naka dct which is not good for traffic

Spec wise, possibly. Price wise...Vios GRS, Almera N-Sport, City RS, etc.

A bit disappointed with the choice of colorway for the grey/black version. The 2-tone front look is basically non-existent compared to the yellow version

Its size is in the middle of the cars you mentioned. I guess it's as big as MG5 and Emgrand, and close to the width of Civic.

Pwede na ito toe to toe with Geely EmGRand vs alpha. Sa track naman with the official race driver. 😂 sabagay luxury ang isa tapos sporty medyo alangan. Engine capabilities nalang.
malayong malayo c emgrand.. underpower c emgrand.. khit c MG core 5 manual transmission lang ang bubugbog sa top of the line ni emgrand..lamang parati sa power c MG..mababangis at harabas tumakbo c MG..while geely nevermind nlng ang power kc kakain tlga cya ng alikabok ky MG.
@@nejpd75 Emgrand is mass strive for luxury and cost effective. Since mababa yung HP neto its compliance to Carbon Neutrality 2045 is Possibility. yung Carbon emission neto is has a lower footprint. Now 9months were benefiting sa fuel efficiency and it's getting better. This car didn't still disappoint us. If you want racing, go for higher HPower and for the MG GT & G6 is really too a beautiful car.... Cheers!

Very poor description of these cars.. what are the seats made of? His suggestion to reduce the tyre pressures is crazy and his opinions are his own.. bad presentation!
