Blue Moon at Maine Road

- Man City fans singing their classic anthem 20 minutes after the last game at Maine Road.
The stadium was built in 1923, closed in 2003 and demolished the year after.
By the way, I only uploaded this because I thought it was brilliant. I was born in the Skåne region of Scandinavia, and so I support Helsingborgs IF - my local football club. - กีฬา
I don't support City but when people say City had no fans before 08 I say bollocks and show them this. This is the real Manchester City.
Fucking bollocks ini
@@GreenCocanix you sold your soul for success

@@JJJJ-fi9dg and you obviously sold your last brain cell.
they had an attendance of 85 K in 1934 long before these people existed.
we finnished 9th this season and lost this game yet every single person in the stadiums singing along how can ppl call us shit fans
I had a seat in the great kippax stand, it was brilliant! Maine road was one of the few remaining stadiums that had a true connection to the working class. I'll never forget Maine road!
This stadium used to have the second largest capacity after Wembley. But as time goes on, it shrinks more and more
This shows that City have real fans even before 2008/ Chelsea fan
Respect
Haha Chelsea had no fans before 2004
@@benedictcase4290 Bullshit! I’m not a Chelsea supporter. I’m a fan of Borussia Dortmund but Chelsea had fans before 2004. Never heard of the headhunters m8? We have much worse plastic clubs here in Germany. RB Leipzig for example. Didn’t exist before 2009 and now they’re on the top of Germany...
Chelsea and City have at least some history. Cheers from Dortmund🟡⚫️
@@griffinpeter55 thank you! and congrats on winning the dfb final 🎉
of course we do bruh
i'm a ss Lazio supporter and i love so much Manchester City. Colour and symbol are quite similare and ur anthem is awesome!!!!

THE PRIDE OF MANCHESTER. Manchester City. From a Birmingham City Fan.
how I miss that ground..from a liverpool fan
This, is the real Manchester city. Passion, tears, experience. They’ve gone through a lot to get to this point. Truly beautiful support
Literally brings a tear to my eye this video. I was too young to ever go to Maine Road, but my mum had a season ticket in the Kippax. Wish I could have been there in that incredible atmosphere, the Etihad’s a fantastic Stadium - but where’s the atmosphere/passion? I know these City fans haven’t gone missing, one day the Etihad will be like this.
Sammy Oliver same. I was also too young to ever visit Maine road. The etihad is a beautiful stadium and has a bigger capacity but it has no character and as we get more successful we become more of a tourist club which ruins the atmosphere
@@AS-mw6pw happens to all clubs, it's a sad sight it ruins the beautiful game
LewAll l yeh it’s murder destroying Maine Road, Highbury, Upton Park, I hear Goodison Parks next on the list. And as soon as we become successful, the ground becomes full of Chinese tourists taking up full rows. It used to be the case that only United were like that and City were a proper Manchester clubs supported by mancs. Like Everton are a proper scouse club. I’d prefer to be bouncing up and down the leagues with one of best fanbases in the country, playing are home games in front of crowds up to 80,000 than top of the premier league because of Arab investment in a soulless stadium full of tourists. That’s how it used to be at city in the 80s and 90s. I’d much rather have been a city fan then than now. Even if they were the years when we never won a trophy. At least we had character and a community.
I think we should move the away section to the other end and merge the two singing sections
Me too, I was born the year Maine road got knocked down so never got to visit it, but my mum and grandparents and aunts and uncles all had season tickets in the kippax, god how I wish i could’ve been to just one match at maine road 💙 CTID
So true, when the Kippax was all standing it was something else. God I miss it.
The glory days of football....
Was part of that crowd proud to have been to Maine road

Lot of respect for Manchester City. Obviously the true team from Manchester with the real support. Love this for a club anthem, its my 2nd favourite behind Keep Right On but being a Bluenose that would always be the case.
Blue moon,
You saw me standing alone,
Without a dream in my heart,
Without a love of my own.
I lost my password somehow for my old account which I used to upload this video. I think it could be worth mentioning though that the reason why I felt it was brilliant was because there was real passion involved and history aswell. I don't conform to any particular explenation why everything turned to shit and I particularly don't blame money in the sport. Money is an indicator of value. Passion attributed to a club provides true and actual value which in turn makes the club marketable. To say that there should be less money in sport is to say that sport should be put on a lower standard, so that it can easier be manipulated and degraded into a means of marketing other things such as communist ideas. I believe that the notion of "modern football" as something inherently bad has been spread not through legit free speech but also through blindfolding the masses and through attributing precisely that passion which comes naturally with tradition to quite the opposite of what a completely uncontroled market leads to. The only thing I want other than to just let things flow is to correct the damages already caused by the filth. In my country that would be the death of malmö ff.
im a west ham fan but thats a cracking atmosphere
Great fans (bar the ones who chant munich) from a united fan
I'm a City fan from the US and I'm flying up for the Blackburn game.

How was it?
i was at this match i was 6 but i was still singing my little heart out for city and always will do for the rest of my life!!!!

ahhh brings a tear to my eye watching this
Was in the North stand with rkids Kenny and Ian.Ctwd.R.I.P Maine Road.#younggovners
im a forest fan but saw this and thought it woz quality!! the only team in manchester is CITY!! Maine Road had a gr8 atmosphere.....loved it at Eastlands when we turned u over tho lol
One of the best footy songs about for me! And I am regular on the Kop!
I yearn for my Maine Road days but we had to move on we would never be able to compete otherwise and i have encompassed our stadium which is just as important as our flood of trophies 🩵
words cannot describe how much i prefered it here to eastlands, miss it so so much
The city culture has changed loads recent years it’s hard for rival fans to understand but you can tell the old guard miss these days deep down. Can’t beat the football we’re watching now but you gotta say we’ve sold our soul with it. Felt very divided at Wembley other day just want us to back to being loud, proud and loyal again. Can’t put my finger on what’s happened to the fan culture but it feels like we’ve lost identity a bit to me even tho it’s still mostly local
glory hunting tourists bro , got the same problem at anfield , wish we never started winning trophies tbh

Oh how I love this
pure bloody class !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Highbury,Maine road. Maby Anfield and Upton park to.I think its time for us supporters to stand united and go against this new money, business thing football has become. I can still feel pain in my heart since we left good old Highbury and I just want to tell everybody who is a Liverpool or a West Ham United fan to stand up and say NO! Believe me do it while you still can beacuse when your ground is gone you will never be able to watch a home game again and feel like this is the soul of the club.
Ghostface Muslim 4 years later, Upton Park is gone :(
that must have been so emotional!
Pretty enjoyed hearing this yesterday at the Walkers, even though you were quiet after that.

im an arsenal fan myself, but love this song ;) very good song, Love hearing the fans sing it and @ ricky hatton fights
city is the 4th team with the best average attendance in the premier league
Never Forget!
This was 20 mins after the fional whistle of the final game at Maine Road, hence the empty seats 1
My god they were the days, it's coming right back, as a kid it was a fiver in, jibbing the walls for free haha.
Cheers gillstid! I bet your overun by rags down there! Glad you went up the following season!
"Blue Moon" and "YNWA" are the best songs!!!
Respect from Leicester fan.
good to see weve got some loyal support abroad, good lad, didnt mean to offend you in any way mate, just a generalisation that united fans come from manchester. uv got some good opinions there though ;)
haha keep up the support mate you ever been to a game here in sunny england???
i know people in the US who wear man u jerseys and when you make some snide comment like "ronaldo's a fuckin baby" or even just ask "hey did you see the champions league game last night?" they look at you like youre insane as if "people actually watch football? i thought the only clubs in the world were man u chelsea and arsenal every other season". ive never understood how so many people on this earth could be glory hungry fair weathered supporters. but there you have it up the city
@Poopingbotham Starting to build houses there now, just gonna be another housing estate - I could see Maine Rd from my house and hear the games from my back garden, you could always tell when City scored :D didn't even have to go to the matches, but when I did, the atmosphere was great. I miss them days
@stokeloudandproud Thanks mate, hope your lads do well also! You boys are LOUD at home!
what the fuck are city??
pure passion that something the red side will never see, made the hair on the back of my neck stand up!! always had a slight admiration for city despite your win at wembley over us :D
BLUE MOON YOU SAW ME STANDIN ALONE
this song is really good
Maine Road ging, Upton Park gone, Highbury gone, Goodison Park sook be gone. So sad that so many beautiful grounds were replaced.
We must forget the past and look towards the future. Those stadiums have been degraded and are difficult to use long-term, moreover, now a football stadium is no longer simply for weekend matches, it must be more multi-functional and modern to have more revenue
In the near future, both Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge will also follow this path
nice one mate! been to a game before? should be a good'un that one :)
RIP Maine road...... Good times... cheers
manchester - city fans

to be honest whyen do you see the WHO|LE| of a ground singing like that, its usually just about 5,000 not 35,000
brilliant..
What part of Manchester do you come from then? london, China, Russia, Austrailia or maybe it's the great Manchester area of Outer Mongolia.
man city, aston villa, sunderland. proper support
those were the days :)
eastlands will pick up
its slowly gettin better i feel
jane connolly it did pick up. Now it’s a great big tourist attraction, hate it every time i go doesn’t feel right, still.
Was at this game (they played southampton), sorry we ruined it slightly by winning :p
worst fans? unfortunately we were 3rd last yr the loudest fans and top in the all time list based on attendances and the amount of honours won.
better luck next time.
btw did you enjoy the golden jubilee last year at old trafford? because i did

how many newcastles are there in england? there are 3....
newcastle-upon-tyne
newcastle-under-lyme
newcastle-below-sunderland

think you'll find city have the biggest attendances ever made in the cup match... united have the biggest for a league match and guess what? both games were played at MAINE ROAD...
who was the last game against
From a wholly neutral perspective thats fucking quality.
respect from naples
brings back nice memories for me this, im the biggest blue their is I love our new stadium but i dont like the area its in, too many rags for my liking, will never feel like home to me.
We should have built it in heaton moor or cheadle or even gatley that way at least it would be safe for us to round there.
