Manunuted were the first to sing ynwa, celtic and liverpool took it up as regular songs they sung. Most teams sung it. Then liverpool ended up kinda cursing the song so no one sings it anymore
Nothing to do with heysel, that happened a few weeks later. In those days, most clubs sang YNWA, united fans even sang it, I saw this myself on ESPN classic from the late 70's. Liverpool seemed to make it their own after heysel and more so after hillsborough. I was on the kippax that day ( I was only 12 ) but the whole ground was rocking, today's atmosphere is crap compared to this !
@jimmyg34567 Bolton used to do it with the Clap-clap "you'll ne-" clap clap "-ver walk" clap clap "alone" clap clap "walk on" clap clap ..... etc As a kid I was taken to Burnden every now and again when City were far away, proper ground
