Sister Julie Beck, former President of the General Relief Society of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, said it best in a satellite Broadcast for Seminaries and Institutes, Aug. 2009. She said, "Anti-Christ is antifamily. Any doctrine or principle our youth hear from the world that is antifamily is also anti-Christ."
A prominent Christian pastor made an insightful statement that I find clairfying: "Our culture has accepted two huge lies. The first is that if you disagree with someone's life style, you must fear or hate them. The second is, that to love someone means you agree with everything they believe or do. Both are nonsense You don't have to compromise your convictions to be compassionate."
This is a correct fact today. Thanks for writing it here. No one will stand up. I don’t see a teddy bear Jesus in the Doctrine and Covenants chapter 1.
I think much of this comes from fear, fear that that person won't love me if I don't celebraite their choice. I love my covenent keeping and my children who have chosen another road equally. I love the boyfriends/girlfriends of those outside of church and listen to and rejoice with them in their life, but I would never ware a badge that said that I think living together without being married is great, as I feel some of those with gay children do with waring the rainbow flag. Waring the rainbow flag is not just showing love to your child, it is supporting a lifestyle and actions that are against God's laws. As proud as they waring it, as sad am I seeing them promoting sin.
As an individual who does struggle with homosexual attraction, that's exactly how I look at it, nothing more than a struggle meant to strengthen my faith. In following God I have been blessed with a beautiful wife and 3 children. I have seen time and time again, individuals who say they cannot be in relationships with the opposite sex simply because they do not find themselves attracted. Sure it can be a spark, but if we are to believe that we can do all things through Christ, then surely he can help us learn to love someone and express adequate love if we choose his path. I have and will always say this, if love is based purely on sexual desire, then it is a weak foundation, for it is upon Christ we must build every foundation, first the foundation of our faith, then He will provide every other need.
Yes, as president Nelson says, we are first and foremost children of God and if we are truely followers of Christ we are willing to give up everything of ourselves. But too many rather want God to change than themselves to change. They do not want or understand the power of the atonement of the Savior. Sad.
This works for some LGBTQ, but not for all. Many who are advised that heterosexual marriage will take care of everything, find that it does not. We have to be careful not to prescribe for all what works for one (or a few.)
As near as I can tell, Christ never once withheld His love from anyone, but He also never once said to anyone, “Because I love you, you are exempt from keeping my commandments.” Elder Holland 2021
Once I know a member's view of the Proclamation on the Family, I immediately have a very good idea of their understanding of the Gospel and their overall level of spiritual maturity. The doctrine of the family, which is at the heart of the gospel, has proven to be one of the biggest sifters in the Church.
Yes, it is. Jesus himself said in Luke 12:51, "Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division: For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three." Jesus knew that some members of one family would embrace the gospel and commandments while others of the same family would not, and that it would divide the family. The Proclamation on the Family is one of proclamations of doctrine that divide some families. It's is a sifter, as you said. But it's also a unifier for the believing faithful. And such is the latter days.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! You very well-articulated the thoughts I have had for a long time. I have often wondered why we don't get more direct word from the brethren but it is good to see that they are very aware and very capable of addressing this pernicious issue. This is one of the most important episodes I have heard in all that I listen to. Thank you for clarifying and enlightening us! It was so helpful to hear the missing link of the first commandment
Chose The Right, and the pride flag, are diametrically opposed. Thank you, Greg, for having the courage to directly address these issues, and upholding TRUTH.
We have been taken over by Babylon--where good has been replaced by evil and evil has been replaced by good. Political Correctness has replaced Moral Correctness. Anciently this is the same position that Daniel found himself when Israel was “taken over” into bondage by the Babylonians. We are to be in the world and not of the world. Our charge is to “come out of her.”
When President Hinckley announced the Proclamation to the Family in October 1995 at the women's session of general conference he spoke for about 30 minutes before on how to "Stand Strong against the Wiles of the World." Here is one of the quotes from that talk: "There are those who would have us believe in the validity of what they choose to call same-sex marriage. Our hearts reach out to those who struggle with feelings of affinity for the same gender. We remember you before the Lord, we sympathize with you, we regard you as our brothers and our sisters. However, we cannot condone immoral practices on your part any more than we can condone immoral practices on the part of others." He said these words just before announcing the Proclamation to the Family.
Penny, that is pretty direct. I was 8 at the time. Maybe instead of listening and reading the Proc, we all ought to listen to the Prophet who dictated it.
@@mikegillettify100%. He’s been super clear on eternal male/female god sanctioned marriages and sealings as recently as within the last year! Being kind to those in and out of the church who ascribe to other non-godly traditions and beliefs is his message now. Can’t have one without the other. I love president Nelson.
Agreed. I don’t think we have to use scriptures, The Proclamation on the Family, and words of the Prophet to get measurements to the millimeter of someone else’s righteousness or how they stack up (not that any of you above have said this, just saying it so there is no confusion), but it does give us a measurement for if we are on the covenant path.
@mikegillettify Actually yes we do have to use the scriptures, the Proclamation and the words of the prophets not to measure to millimeters or whatever but to be sure that everyone who professes to be on the covenant path actually are and if they are not to guide/lead/direct them to it for the scriptures et al are the only sure spiritual beacon of light to see by in order to be able to tread/follow the covenant path in a world that is ever darkening mentally and spiritually in sin, iniquity and abomination. We all fall short of the Glory of God and Jesus Christ and so we must repent as often as needs be individually and for most of us, that time is near-constantly and consistently if not absolutely so. So we all need to repent and re/turn to the Lord our God and also to the Father of us all and be re/baptized in the fire of the Holy Spirit and let him permeate our whole bodies and souls so that we may be forgiven of our many sins before the Holy One of Israel if we truly and purposefully live the Gospel and every word that proceeds forth from the mouth of the Father which includes all of the relevant commandments already given to us and those that will be given to us individually and collectively whenever the Father sees fit to give them to us and how HE gives those future commandments to us individually. I hope this makes sense. God bless you and yours and take care.
Thanks Greg. Members who wave the flag don’t realize that they make themselves competitors against parents with vulnerable teens. They send a message to impressionable teens they are a source of greater love than their own parents are. This is not okay.
It is one thing to show kindness to ALL , it is another to “March in the Gay Parade “ . Gushing over these lifestyle choices IS hurting our vulnerable youth . Some of Us are up against it and CAN NOT have church leaders “gushing “ over or promoting church celebrities whose lifestyles are against the Proclamation .
I just listened to this with my 18 year old daughter who just graduated. She is getting ready to head to college. The light came on and she could see and understand the confusion these influencers in the church are creating. Thanks for the side by side comparison of what the Brethren are saying and what these influencers are promoting.
As members of the church we must stand up and speak out against this movement. As Elder Christofferson said, "The motivation for raising the warning voice is love-love of God and love of fellowman. To warn is to care. The Lord instructs that it is to be done “in mildness and in meekness” and “by persuasion, by long-suffering, by gentleness … , and by love unfeigned.” It can be urgent, as when we warn a child not to put his or her hand in a fire. It must be clear and sometimes firm. On occasion, warning may take the form of reproof “when moved upon by the Holy Ghost,” but always it is rooted in love."
I agree BUT If the response from such individuals to that warning is vitriol, anger or hatred we must still stand firmly... It is unfortunate but some will ultimately choose the wrong path and that is their choice... ANY capitulation or any giving of ground in the slightest which allows such doctrine to creep forward we ourselves, I believe, will then be held to account for acquiescig and giving in to such.... Remember even the Lord himself threw the money changers out of his Father's house.... Some people's feelings will be hurt that is as it will be
I have love and kindness in my heart for those who struggle with these issues. I draw the line when I am passed the sacrament by a male wearing nail polish. Inapropreate
Are you equally rooted in your assumed support in subjecting gay people with conversion therapy, as suggested and supported by leaders, where electricity was directed into the genitals of members, so they can be "worthy?" Stand up tall!! State your intentions publicly, so the rest of the world can see your unapologetic resolve!!
I am a gay former member of the church who left the church got my records removed and everything. I had alot of bitterness and anger towards the church and even now I am still healing from that anger and bitterness. But I’ve realized how much better my life has been and how much of an anchor it has been in my already turbulent life. So I’ve decided to come back to participation to a degree. I am in a Same sex relationship but I have gone to church talked to my bishops and stakes presidents. Told them my situation they have asked me if I wanted to seek rebaptism which I said yes but and I kindly told them out of respect of the doctrine and me knowing what it entails I won’t be rebaptised. I will worship on the outside. Years ago this video would have bothered me but now I’m at a point where this video speaks truth. I don’t like the gay agenda that’s being pushed on everyone especially the children. But I do love the Lord Anyway thank you for your video
Amen, Brother Matsen! Thank you for taking on the difficult subjects. It frustrates me to see the gospel, the commandments and a lot of the hard doctrines of the Church get watered down, at times, because we are afraid of offending others. I believe there are ways to be loving and compassionate but also teaching right from wrong correctly to the youth. The Family, A Proclamation To The World is an inspired and revelatory document. It says what it says and is very direct and not open to individual interpretation. Thank you for your great work, Greg!
The way to be loving (caring) and compassionate (sympathetic) IS to teach right from wrong. Youth are hungry for guidance and if they do not get it, they can easily go off the rails.
If it was as simple as "not wishing to offend others" then there wouldn't be an ongoing decline in religious practice. Certain sects of your religion are dying out and it is an attempt to reconnect with demographics that have lost interest. If you take that "hard stance" and let it lead to the usual community hatred then the trends will simply continue.
Thank you for the podcast. We are Children of God. I see any temptation as one we need to call upon God to help us. Thanks for sharing the truth from the apostles.
I was an influencer way before anyone called it that. I had blogs where I talked about my struggle with same-sex attraction and advocated for belief in the Law of Chasty and The Proclamation on the Family when it was first delivered by President Hinckley to President Bill Clinton. I appeared on news programs in the Salt Lake area in the late 90's, once with my wife, whom I've now been married to for nearly 46 years. I was interviewed for the PBS documentary, The Mormons, but my interview got cut in favor of the story of someone who was leaving the Church. I did a lot of firesides and spoke to a lot of bishop's councils, stake presidents councils, and firesides. I sort of retired from that when I started a support group in my local area because I didn't want to draw attention to them. Also, the younger generation, like Ty Mansfield, were doing a better job. As I've watched some high profile gay Latter-day Saints turn away from the teachings of the Church, I've pondered a lot about what is influencing them. I've been feeling a responsibility to present a different point of view. For the past 50 years, after I promised God I'd turn back to His church and leaders, I've become a father of five and grandfather of nine. I've served in a lot of callings and I've learned a lot about my Savior. Like many of my friends, he desrves my loyalty and trust. He doesn't owe me anything and just as much as he loves me, he also has requirements of me. There is nothing he could ask me to do that I wouldn't want to do because it is Him who asks. That includes keeping my behavior within the bounds he has set. I am afraid for young people today, not just gay young people. I don't hear much anymore that the Law of Chastity is being taught or upheld. It isn't treated with the same seriousness as it was when I was young. It was because I knew how serious it was that I wanted to repent and return.
Thank you for your comment on here. I bet you have helped a tremendous amount of people. I'm sure Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father are so very proud of you.
I may disagree with Catholicism but that does not mean I hate Catholics. I may think someone has an anger management or anxiety problem but that does not mean I hate them. I may disagree with a LGBTQI+ life choice but that does not mean I hate them or have a phobia. Neither is anything I say when quoting the Family Proclamation or a Quote from a church leader or a scripture used as a weapon. It is only me quoting the source of what I believe is the purpose of our creation and the plan of salvation without interpretation and without fear or intent of offense. Your analysis and comments are well presented and need addressing in a clear manner by church leaders that cannot be twisted.
I will never be afraid to quote from the Proclamation on the Family. It was inspired and it is truth. We all need to be quoting from it and calling people on their secularism and attacks on the family. Thank you Greg for speaking publicly about this. We can love others and disagree. We can love others and not ignore destructive behavior. We can love others and defend truth and God's way.
I'm just saying if Christ thought it appropriate to over turn tables of money changers in the temple maybe it is appropriate to take down the "pride board" that is bringing the worship of the old gods (baal/ishtar/moloch) into the church. This is EXACTLY what happened to ancient Isreal. They didn't make the golden calf and say "we won't worship Jehova." They thought they could do both. It ended with them abandoning God and worshiping the strange gods of the people around them.
Brigham Young once said we ought not share our sins and weaknesses with others as it may lead others to sin. This is a HUGE problem with social media today. Keep it between you and the lord.
What a beautiful and refreshing message!! Clearer than this, couldn’t be explained better. This has been on my mind and heart for the longest time, WE CAN’T SERVE TWO MASTERS PERIOD!! ❤️❤️🙌🏻🙏🏻loved this, THANK YOU 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙌🏻🙏🏻😮
I'm so glad that you stand for truth in a compassionate way. Standing for truth, defending the laws of God, and advocating for all of us to repent. Thanks again, Brother Greg! The Gospel of Jesus Christ is not confusing, but the adversary is doing a good job confusing God's children.
President Nelson gave a devotional in 2019 on The Love and Laws of God in which he tackled this issue. He points out God has not changed his laws on marriage or chastity, regardless of all the laws and promotions of gay marriage going on in our society.
@@rolandsmith4394- Exactly. More change than I can handle over the last few years. Thank goodness there are those now out there unafraid to show the whole truth of what this church’s true history consists of and what gas been the truths that have been hidden 😢
@@rolandsmith4394 You think making adjustments to the wording and process is equivalent to changing doctrine? Seriously? We’re speaking past each other then.
"Don't judge" is far far too many times used incorrectly. We are commanded to judge righteously. If Christ or the prophets say that something is evil and is to be avoided, then it is to be avoided... and judged to be so. Don't forget... those that say, "Don't judge me!" are, in fact, judging you.
People are correct when they say the family proclamation is being used as a weapon. Did not Paul describe the word of God as a sword? "And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:" In the same vein, Helaman described the word of God as "quick and powerful, which shall divide asunder all the cunning and the snares and the wiles of the devil". I am reminded of the time when Elder Holland asked for more metaphorical musket fire in defense of the faith. Activists came out of the woodwork in droves to feign deep offense! Their behavior is beyond ironic. We are in a spiritual war. The family proclamation, being the word of God, is, in fact, a weapon, and the people who are most offended by it are those who, as Nephi describes, "taketh the truth to be hard, for it cutteth them to the very center."
I agree, but we also are being asked to be peacemakers. I'm studying how Christ was a peacemaker. The world's idea is not the same as Christ's meaning.
@@tiffanyseavy565 That's a great topic to ponder and seek the spirit on. I'm sure you're already familiar with the Matthew 10:34, where Jesus said he came, not to bring peace, but a sword. I can't think of a better interpretation of "sword" than truth, or the word of God. I can't provide links in comments, but I found this amusing commentary online: `In the Beatitudes, Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers” (Matthew 5:9) It seems straightforward enough. But then when Christians say anything controversial, they’re open to criticism of not being peacemakers.` And later on in the same article: `So Jesus did not come to give the peace the world gives. He came to confront the world, and from that confrontation, he will make a different kind of peace`. Lastly, I want to quote from Isaiah 57:21: "There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked." If this is to be taken literally, then the only way we can make lasting peace with the wicked is to help them repent. I think this is borne out in the Book of Mormon. The Nephites and Lamanites only find meaningful and lasting peace with each other when both sides repent and follow Christ, and this comes about through dedicated missionary work over multiple generations.
@@MercurialMaven fantastic scriptures. I am very familiar with Christ's declaration that His peace is not the world's peace, hence my desire to understand our true role as peacemakers. Thank you for expounding on this. I add these verses to my study.
@@MercurialMaven I know you can't provide links, but could you point me in the direction of the article. A key phrase to search for? Or the title of the talk and what year?
Dear Greg, I totally understand what you mean about all these pernicious ideologies and where they're coming from. It sickens me to see this toxic waste garbage being gulped down by a great many of Father's Children. We need to remember that Father loves us very much, more than we know, and He is very much aware of our lives, our situations, and deeply cares how we feel and will comfort us when things get tough. I'm so grateful that Lord Jesus made it possible for us to be made clean before Father. I will never be able to repay that gift to me. Lord Jesus is my Savior, my Redeemer and I will follow only Him. I love what you do for your ministry. Thank you. -Z
I think that we lose the argument the minute we say the terms they have created, such as "LGBTQ community" Just in using that term, we are categorizing human beings into false identities that tether them and us to this world. That is why I see the pride flag as an idol of our time. It holds us in the material and makes people feel justified in using each other for unearned virtue points. Covenant is the opposite of idolatry and sees all people with common humanity and divine potential and as much more than their sexual or physical limitations or urges. We all struggle with the ways that we fall short of an ideal because of our human nature.
I have an adopted son who came out as gay and eventually got married to another man. That kind of ruined part of my narrative because his biological father was gay. My wife found that out after we were married and remarked that if she’d known that when she got divorced from him, she would have had a lot more support in the Church. Sometime after that I joined the Church. When I was ready to go through the Temple, my wife asked her ex for a letter to support the cancelation of her Temple sealing so that we could be sealed. In the letter, her ex said he was gay and that she could have the kids because they always meant more to her than they did to him. That was rather astonishing. Well, anyway, my adopted son came out as gay many years later. He has no interest in the Church or even in churches that accept gays. We are on good terms. His mother died about 20 years ago and I remarried in the Temple. My second wife and I attended his gay marriage although my brother in law, a non-member, tried to convince me that I should find some excuse not to attend. I figured that the rest of my kids were attending and that it would offend them if we did not attend. My youngest son, who was married in the Temple and now has 5 kids, briefly quit going to church after attending the gay marriage, much to our dismay but he returned to church 9 months later, in time to baptize his oldest daughter, much to our relief. I can see that the influence of Pride is very pernicious. I’ve seen other members of the Church turn away because they decided they were really bisexual or whatever. I see it as no different than the fact that as a heterosexual, I’m attracted to other women but choose to remain true to my Temple covenants because I can see the chaos that results when people decide that their attractions are more important than anything else in life.
I make sure to quote the Family Proclamation every time I have the opportunity to give a talk in church. It's not hard to do - the proclamation contains true doctrine and is relevant to our lives.
@@SaxSpyHome Churching is the answer. If you’re in a ward or a stake that’s openly condoning and promoting anti Family Proclamation (biblical pre-lds teachings) behaviors, get your kids out of there. Take the sacrament and bounce unless your shifty grooming stake presidents and grooming bishops are pulpit lgbtqiaa2+=- promoting preachers as well, then go find a church outside the LDS that is still teaching gods laws and not the laws of Beelzebub. This is the hill, this is fight, this is it.
Too many members have confused Christlike love with 'I love you just the way you are.' Imagine if the Good Samaritan had, instead of lifting up and saving the unfortunate traveler beaten and left for dead by the robbers, he had said, "I love you just the way you are" and then walked on. If your brother is an alcoholic and needs an intervention, saying "I love you just the way you are" doesn't help them. True compassion requires us to lift our brother without judgement but while still maintaining the high ground of moral clarity. It is why Jesus was hated in his own time and still today: because he both loved the sinners and hated the sins. It is a lonely road.
Wow. There is a lot of confusion in the world, and I have so much compassion for the youth who are trying to navigate thtough this social upheaval during their adolescent years. I just spent a lovely week hosting my 23-year-old niece, her girlfriend, and two of my nephews. They are teens and young adults and have experienced a lot of childhood trauma due to the choices of their parents. None of them are LDS, and their only exposure to the church has been through me and my parents. I am single and don't have my own children, and so I have sought to magnify the line from the Proclamation that states extended family members should lend support when necessary. I have cared for these children in my home off and on throughout their lives, and having them here this week is what I imagine it feels like to have your children come home to visit. I have done my best to be an example of righteous living and strive to have the spirit in my home. We had so much fun together this week. I don't preach the doctrine of the family to them, because I know it would drive them away. Instead, I live it the best way I can in my present circumstances, and pray that is enough for now. It's hard for me to find the line between loving them unconditionally and endorsing their lifestyle. My niece and her girlfriend are precious, kind, intelligent young women. I want them to know and feel that they are loved, and I want them to experience the joy of family love and healthy relationships. Ultimately, I want them to develop a relationship with Jesus Christ some day.
My 2 cents addressing the church not putting out enough "direct messages" and therefore leading to confusion @27:00: The general authorities of the church have addressed gender, marriage, and chastity repeatedly and thoroughly. There is literally no excuse for confusion on this topic for those seeking truth. The confusion comes when we use our agency to hear the words of those who seek to create confusion and division in the church, and give it place in our hearts over that which has been spoken by the Lord's annointed.
Thank you Greg for the clarity surrounding the principles of Family,Chastity,Gender & Purpose mentioned in Abraham 3:22-25,and above all,Devotion to and Love for God our Eternal Father,His Beloved Son,Jesus Christ, and for that incomparable Testifier of light and truth, the Holy Ghost.I know of our Father’s love for all His children, for Families, for all are precious unto Him from before the foundation of the created worlds. I love you as a brother in Christ, and again thank you for all you bring to those who are seekers of truth, light and love, which is God our Father thru His Beloved Son.
This was such a great summary of what's going on...we need more captain Moronis. I have been stunned at the comments on charlie's posts- as far as saying things like "you are a pioneer" and "you will help bring needed changes" from members. Even friends. God's word will not change, and it's shocking how many church members believe it will. My heart goes out to those dealing with this kind of challenge in this life...but truth is truth.
It seems some members often confuse policies with doctrine. Policies may change, but the doctrine will not. The doctrine of Christ is the anchor that keeps us from being tossed to and fro...
You are not alone. Not even within the Church. Millions of Christians all around the world see Satan's mark on this gender confusion. I felt alone, too, until I moved out of Salt Lake County. To see the Salt Lake Temple in shambles is just too much for my heart to take.
Thank you thank you thank you from the bottom of my heart!! I listed to this twice because it’s so good. The things in that young sisters letter that Pres Oaks read in his last fireside express exactly how I feel as well!! I hate feeling like I’m the sinner or unChristlike one for standing for the proclamation and Truth. The problem isn’t offending someone else anymore, it’s the legitimate fear of losing your livelihood and some have. Luckily I’m ok with my job right now but you never know. If you make your stance public the left will try their best destroy you!! First comes nudge, then shove then shoot. It feels like we are very much towards the end of shove faze. I have been rebuked by members and leaders up here in the commie Seattle area. It truly is the “safe space” “teddy bear Jesus” Church nowadays. I know many feel the same way I do but are afraid to speak up or even voice an opinion. Voices like yours are so so very important today. Courage is contagious. I am a little curious if you have gotten any pushback or formal talking to about being so bold and questioning leadership from your ward or stk? I was actually formally called in by my bishop at my stk presidents request for being too political and preachy in bearing my testimony. I’ve wanted to go to the stk Pres himself and have a talk but I don’t think it would make a difference. Like you have said, many in those higher positions in the Church have a soft spot if not total allegiance to the marxian critical theory, knowingly or not. I will never leave this Church and I know God is in charge and will at some point clean his house out first, it’s already happening I’m sure you would agree. I just actually do fear for the confused souls out there. I don’t want people to leave. I want to sit and try and reason with one another, the problem is they seem to be oblivious to reason and only react to emotion. It’s a game of persuasion and we need to do a much better job on our end. There’s the fear approach which I think I got mostly growing up. There’s the reward approach. Which I think is better but hard to get across sometimes and make stick. I have to say that when I started studying the gospel through a sort of political philosophical lens the light bulbs truly went off and a lot of puzzle peace’s fit together. Satan has his prophets too. Marx being one of them in these latter days, but all the philosophers you have mentioned with CRT are as well along with the likes of Darwin, frued Dewey etc if we can call philosophies and these satanic minions out by name like you do I think the light bulbs would go on for others too and save a lot of souls. It’s no coincidence that many of these people came along at the exact same time as the restoration. It’s fascinating to see when you put it all together and makes so much sense. Anyway… thank you once again for all that you do. It’s truly Gods work!! ❤
You forgot the only approachable way is love and long suffering and teaching can only be done with the spirit! So seek the spirit first than go forward!
Elder Holland's talk was such a beautiful treatise. It bolstered my faith at a time when I was indeed beginning to worry concerning the direction of the church. Which looking back was foolish to doubt the Lord's annointed.
There will be many who will be willing to teach the philosophies of men mingled with scripture. We as church members must not fall into this category. Thank you for standing for truth.
I have a bisexual daughter. I have chosen my faith over her. I don’t maintain a relationship with her, and I’m perfectly fine with that. I don’t allow personal relationships to change my standards, and just accepting her decision is tacit approval. I know most parents couldn’t do that, but I’ll never allow my children to believe homosexuality is okay. I will openly stand against them. Members need to make it difficult for their family members who embrace such filth.
If people were to use Charlie's logic to interpret doctrine and commandments, then everyone could do anything they wanted and still get into the Celestial kingdom
That is just utter nonsense. Do you realize that Jesus' entire New Testament ministry is spent being critical of those that call themselves "Holy people". The Pharisees were commandment keeping zealots, and they used "The Law" as justification to cast out those that did not keep the law. So it looks like, whether one is a self-righteous rule keeper or law breaker, both are still sinners.
@tsmithson1 The "Holy people" you're referring to are the ones who thought they didn't need to change. They weren't commandment keeping, they twisted the law of Moses to benefit themselves. Yes, Jesus loved everyone but still told Mary after people wanted to stone her, to go and sin no more. Did he not?
I've mentioned this before, but I homeschool my children and always have. I live in Utah. The homeschool community in Utah is not like the rest or "Mormon Utah." My kids do not encounter this false teaching in our community. But as soon as they go to church stuff, it's there. It's not only frutsrating, it causes me to feel a feeling of grief. The church should be a safe space from the pernicious philosophies of the world, as it was when I grew up in the 80s and 90s.
basically "we hope the Savior will catch up and change doctrine so it will fit into our pride box". I'm at a loss for words on fellow members who look at it like this.
Thank you so much for all these clips, for helping things stay clear. President Nelson was so right about not surviving spiritually if we don't cling to the truth. I want these talks coming over the pulpit at general conference and at weekly church. I don't want to have to go hunting for these responses to what is happening now. Please keep these kinds of posts coming, even if it might be repetitive.
“I want these talks coming over the pulpit at general conference…” Why do you think we don’t hear this in conference? Does your observation that this isn’t taught in church or conference mean anything about this message?
@littlebagpipe301 I used to think the same way you do - why can't we get these types of talks over the pulpit in General Conference, Multi-Stake Conference, classes, quoroms etc and have to go hunting for the answers elsewhere? And it would be super nice and helpful if that ever happened. But then I was reminded by the Holy Spirit of multiple talks in past General Conferences where the speakers would say something like, "In order for the members of the Church to grow and develop their faith and testimony, they must be tested or tried or proven that they are worthy of the knowledge they want by looking for it themselves; and, when they find it, that they would ask God, in faith, nothing waivering but steadfastly believing that they will get answers to their questions and continue faithful to the end, then they will most assuredly get those answers to their questions as God will be faithful in giving them to those who seek earnestly and sincerely for those answers if those seekers are not amiss. Because not everything about the Gospel will be spoon fed to us. There are things we must seek out for ourselves so that we may more fully understand and cherish them and so be able to grow and develop because of that earnest and sincere seeking." I hope all of that makes sense. God bless you and yours and take care.
We're in a YSA ward and every testimony meeting a young man, who's a drag queen, gets up and blatantly bashes the general authorities and promotes his drag queen events from the pulpit. He also does this in priesthood. The Bishopric never intervenes. When the former Stake President was told (he's now a new general authority seventy called during April 2023 conference) he said it's a fine line because we don't want him leaving the church. This has been going on for over a year. I'm seeing more faithful practicing members being reprimanded than those that bad mouth the church which makes it very difficult to address these issues.
Aside from the clear disregard of common sense in allowing that behavior to persist, we also have specific instruction in the handbook that says if participation in meetings involves “making political statements or speaking of sexual orientation or personal characteristics in a way that detracts from meetings focused on the Savior,” then private council under the direction of the Spirit is to be given by bishops and/or stake presidents. It sounds like that council is not being followed out of fear of offense. I understand it’s a tricky balance of not pushing individuals out of the church, but there’s an appropriate way to handle that and still love the individual. The sacredness of the meeting and spiritual well-being of those in attendance, particularly youth, should have greater influence in the minds of your wards leaders

@@BunnyWatson-k1w - it is so difficult… my 20 year old son goes to relief society in his singles BYUI ward… 😢 I’m confused why the bishop would allow and encourage this 🤷🏼♀️
@@BunnyWatson-k1w tell them the truth, and that is that they must fight those feelings. We have to fight every urge and feeling we have that is not in line with godliness. Christ said that unless we “deny ourselves” we are not his. They must deny those feelings that lead them away from the kingdom of Heaven. No exceptions.
Discussion on this topic is so important! I teach in a graduate program and we are currently reviewing/revising the course material for the upcoming year. In the first six sentences describing the course, the words ‘diverse’ or diversity’ appears five times. I have been teaching this course for five years and I see changes in the focus of the concepts and how we present them. Instead of following the science of safety and improving communication among diverse professions, we are changing to communicating in a way that makes diverse professions feel safe. Do you get the subtle difference? The religion of academia has been an authoritative voice for so long that it overshadows the voice of God in any of its forms. I hope we don’t repeat the mistake in the Old Testament and find ‘The Family Proclamation’ in a time capsule and wonder why we ever stopped following it.
Thank you for this video! I needed it! I’ve never felt so alone as I did when I saw so many LDS influencers, friends, neighbors, family members and ward members loving and overjoyed by Charlie’s engagement. I don’t get it?!! I tried to have a conversation with an influencer friend that I saw had congratulated Charlie - but apparently I’m the one in the wrong because she gladly assumed I must not love anyone that’s LGBTQ as much as her? What? Why don’t they think their love and support of SIN affects others who are still on the fence? That it promotes confusion? That it could be what convinces the neighbor kid that to be supported and loved they too should come out as gay? Or trans? That it makes everyone else that’s trying to live the gospel completely alone in this world.
@@CalledtoShare EXACTLY!!! I saw a few "prominent" members of the church celebrate their engagement too. I really don't understand why we are celebrating this? And I don't understand why anyone would throw away their membership in the church and their temple covenants. They obviously don't understand the Gospel of Jesus Christ and neither do the ones who are congratulating them on such an engagement. It's sad really.
Thank you for discussing this difficult topic. I didn't realize so many church members were being confused regarding this. Satan and his demons are Marching strong, we as church members and other Christians need to stand up for what's right in a peaceful and loving way. Your points are helpful in doing that.
Love your message mate. I am an Aussie, and I love everyone. While I may not agree with others actions at times, I do love them regardless and state my opinion if the spirit prompts mevtoo. I love the colourful rainbow, reminds me of the beautiful story of Noah’s Ark and the Promise God made to us with the sign of the Rainbow that he will never flood the earth again. Gay to me will always mean Happy, for I grew up on this word feeling much happiness for different reasons. I am truly grateful for The Proclamation of the Family. God gave us this proclamation in these last days knowing that their would be much confusion, but it is plain and clear where God stands with this. Stay strong all LDS people, stand up for the truth, pray always, remain close to the Holy Ghost and let Jesus be your best friend.🙏❤️🙏
Thank You Greg for bringing this up. The Latter-Day Saint Influencers are using the same word games that happened to Eve in Genesis 3 Chapter 1 through 6, Charlie Bird is using subtle deception trying to bring them to their way of thinking. The Philosophy's of Men mingled with scripture. Charlie Bird is showing how it is done.
Back in October 2019 General Conference there were two talks, one by President Dallin H. Oaks and the other by President M. Russell Ballard. President Oaks talk was titled “Two Great Commandments” talking about the two Great Commandments and also the laws that apply most significantly to the issues relating to those identifying as LGBT are God’s law of marriage and its companion law of chastity. Both are essential in our Father in Heaven’s plan of salvation for His children. President Ballard talk was titled “Giving Our Spirits Control over Our Bodies” talking about the two components of the soul, the Spirit and the Body and the importance of both.
*Greg*, I zoomed in to see the wording on the bulletin board you showed with the tent I am supposing was in a chapel building hall way. One paper posted says, "We need to listen to and understand what our LGBT brothers and sisters feeling and confronting." A small painting of a boy with the Savior's arm around him appears to be dressed in rainbow colors with a rainbow heart sticker or magnet holding up the little painting. Zooming in on the image the tabernacle tent is clearly in pride colors.
Great presentation Greg! Thank you. Thank you for speaking out on this topic. You stated things way better than I could. The only thing I may disagree with you is that this issue is not a “drip, drip” in the church. To me it is a garden hose left on wide open. Not a fire hose yet. I love you Greg. Thanks again.
Thanks. We need more and louder voices of clarity. Members need more clarity. I know you covered this as well. Haven’t seen it yet but I will watch it. Look forward to it. Appreciate your comments! Very kind!
It appears to me this whole situation has been allowed to go too far. Could there be something to allowing the pride voices in order that this issue can be seen so members will understand why the brethren will finally have to make known there will be no allowance for sin in God’s doctrine used against the family? When did we lose sight of truth? When did the word No become obsolete?
Thanks Greg. Members who wave the flag don’t realize that they make themselves competitors against parents with vulnerable teens. They send a message to impressionable teens they are a source of greater love than their own parents are. This is not okay.
You have great courage. That encourages us, thank you. I was sad a couple of weeks ago, when attending my grandsons baptism in Phoenix, to hear a talk by a counselor in the stake primary presidency where she taught the children to have a relationship with and talk to their Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother.
I was stuck in the Gay Parade in San Francisco in the 1980's, I didn't know it was going on, I have never felt so out of place as I did then. I am opposed to any of this pride b.s.
Thank U so much for giving us faith & hope, so greatful your spouse protected U during trials of hospital treatment, God is ⌚ing over U as you serve his children, thank U 4 all you both do 4 us
I am asexual--heteroromantic asexual. I have not "come out of the closet." I don't carry a flag or mark in pride parades. I realize I have it easier than most LGBTIA. I have been hurt by the proclamation because I attempted to live by it. I was married in the temple--the marriage failed. I hung onto the marriage for 22 years because we married in the temple. We also tried to have children. For me relations are only a way to conceive. It was something I had to do, rather than wanted to do. This meant temperature charts and ovulation tests to make sure we timed it right and hanging upside down for half an hour afterwards. I had a lot of painful and expensive tests to see why I wasn't getting pregnant. I knew my husband wasn't extremely fertile but I hoped I'd be fertile enough to overcome his infertility. Also, I didn't marry until I was 26 and he was almost 35. I would have married younger if I had the opportunity. I was out socializing and actively studying and setting goals that would make me a better wife and mother but men simply weren't interested in me. I was home alone while my roommates were dating, if there was no party for me to attend. Finally a man came along and I knew that he was not right for me, but I married him because I was 26. So here I am, almost 70. I am alone. Most of my relatives have died. I wonder why God didn't find me good enough to give me a husband and children as I had prayed for, fasted for and worked for. I hear about having the opportunity in the next life. I don't know about that since I didn't obey the Spirit and I married someone I shouldn't have married in the temple and then got divorced. What I hear doesn't seem very encouraging. I'm afraid I'd be limited to adoption and spirit children. Adoption would mean I don't have any biological descendants. Some say, "God doesn't care if your children are biological." I care but I guess what I want doesn't matter to God and I'm wrong to want something contrary. Spirit children don't sound exciting either and I grieve because my line will die out when I die. I came from an abusive background and I was born out of wedlock, so maybe being born out of wedlock makes me less.
Just today we had a sister who spoke in sacrament on Father's day and pointed out how it happens during pride month and spent the rest if her talk advocating for pride month. It was disheartening to see her delicate faith lean in on a hope for change rather than a hope in Jesus Christ. She asked for those who felt slighted by her (meaning those who had woke pride issues) to let her know how she could be better. I chose not to let her know my personal offense at her undermining the value of father's and men who righteously exercise priesthood and who live the fullness of the gospel, all to promote her interest in a secular attack against such things.
I recently endured the adult session of Stake conference which consisted of a stake leader explaining how his incredible son who was the most thoughtful, gentle, obedient, and nurturing child came out as gay (surprise, surprise) and how their family supported him and how meaningful it was that the former stake presidency members attended his son's wedding to his wonderful husband and what an example of love they felt. I was left feeling like .."and?" FWIW Emily Freeman is also in my stake. We've recently had youth firesides focusing on "loving our LGBTQ+ friends and neighbors" it feels like this is the constant focus rather than making and keeping covenants
This is the first of the podcast I've heard in a few months. You seem to have found a stronger voice on this, Greg. Good for you. Thank you for the content.
You did a great job with this! 👏🏻 Ive been so anxious and curious why the general authorities and local leaders are not being more clear on these delicate but loud and dangerous issues too, but I had an experience a little while back that was very interesting that gave me some clarity. I’m a seminary teacher and was in a regional meeting a few months back where our area CES director related to us a message he received from the 1st Presidency. He was instructed to tell us that the youth are being heavily attacked by the adversary and it will get worse. He said that their seminary and church attendance are not enough and will not be enough. He then said that we (us teachers) have to get out of the way. To just teach what is in the scriptures (no opinions) and get out of the way so the God Head can step in with these kids. Powerful! So the Holy Ghost can teach them individual. That will be how they survive and navigate. Their relationship with the Savior, His doctrine, and the testimony in those. This was so very profound for me. I feel like I see this across the board of the church. Leadership is only presenting and.stepping out of the way so the God Head can go to work. To be converted individually. If we don’t we will fall to the world. It’s very proactive. There is no room for procrastination or slothfulness. Anyway, just my 2 cents 😊
Hold anyone have to just address the issues they demand we look at when. That is a distraction from other things I feel I need to spend my time on. If someone wants clarification on a subject. Its available . Look at conference talks etc.
@@karenpeaden271 Agree! They HAVE spoken. If we want to know what has been said we can surely find it. It is UP TO EACH OF US to speak truth in our own circle of influence.
The world teaches there are no absolutes. The church has always taught that there are absolutes as well as the scriptures. Thank you for your insights.
Unfortunately the world is much more appealing than the gospel. We are losing so many, not just youth because they spend more time on their phones than in the scriptures 😢
Thank you for this comment! I have been praying to understand why leaders aren’t speaking out more against this. As I’ve searched the scriptures I’ve wondered if it was more that they were being commanded not to speak for some reason. It makes sense that we teach the doctrine and let God do the rest. The Holy Ghost is the most powerful teacher.
"Teaching the philisophies of men mingled with the scriptures". This is what's happening. So far, the Church here and the leaders in the Philippines are still sticking to the truth of the Gospel. Thank you for talking about these things.
I’m proud of you in the Philippines! Westerners are going nuts. Would you recommend the Philippines as a place that would accept white Americans who are conservative? Truly want out of America.
Greg, great thoughts, and yes it is essential for local leaders to teach truth clearly and with tenderness. However, you mentioned several times that this has not been addressed well in general conference. While I agree that there are some beautiful addresses in other venues, I believe that it was very clearly taught by Pres Oaks in his address in Oct 2019 in the women's session. Additionally all the talks in these alternate venues are both advertised and available on the church website and church news, so I don't think it takes excessive digging to find. That said, thank you for bringing up tough topics and being willing to talk about them
The Family Proclamation is beautiful and inspired. I worry about the future and how this will play out among other issues. I find it to be very scary that members are bringing these ideas into the church. Brother Watcher Palmer entitled his youtube- Beware of Pride Month. I love that. I really hope that the brethren address these issues. I feel like if there is polarization let it be, truth is truth and in order to keep that out some will have to take the truth to be hard. Deseret Book should not promote these ideals.
It's "scary that people are bringing ideas into the church??" Wake up. This has been ongoing since the beginning of time. Even Brigham Youngs son was known to be a transvestite, but if he treated his son like a Native American, he would be feeding him with shattered glass mixed into his meal. Let's have some context, please.
@@alananat6628 it is scary because if you have a calling in the church and bringing pride month celebration into it, then you really are not teaching the doctrine of Christ. At that point, you are obviously promoting something else. I don't sell Mary Kay at church and get offended when I can't. It's just not appropriate. Second, if Brigham Young's son was a transvestite, so be it. That doesn't change things. It is still the words of God- the law of Chastity is what it is. Also Brigham was not a perfect person, nor me, nor you, nor his son. It has been going on since the beginning of time, but let us not condone it in the Church of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ teaches us what is right and it will always be that way. It is hard to live the commandments, but that is part of being a Christian. We don't ask God to change the commandments. We trust in the Lord and live them to the best of our ability repenting relentlessly to the end. There is your "context." I hope that helps you.
Isn’t Sheri Dew the CEO of Deseret Book? It is shocking to me that DB is able to do what it’s doing with her in that position, she’s been a great ally for God in protecting the nuclear family institution I always felt.
We battled this issue with our daughter who is now 16. Thankfully, I feel we caught on to what was going on fairly early. We watched her decline in every way before we intervened. She is in a MUCH better place now and admits she had been deceived. Greg, I’ve written a detailed account of our story that I shared with stake leaders, family and friends. Would love to send it to you.
@@jakellsullivan473 Yes! I wrote with names and details changed for the purpose of sharing it. I will send it to Greg before end of today and he absolutely has permission to share it.
Those who toss the accusation that the Proclamation is being "used as a weapon" should remember that the scriptures sometimes use the metaphor of a sword to represent the voice or word of God. Two of our most popular hymns speak of the "Sword of Truth". Hearing the truths of the Gospel of Christ will sometimes be difficult and even painful. It's that way for all of us! It has always been so, and is part of the process of repentance. The Teddy Bear Gospel hates this process!
It wasn't that long ago that the idea of a conversation like this would have been absurd. No one, especially within the church, would have even considered it. Yet we read in the Book of Mormon that within a single generation, what was a fairly righteous people became very wicked. The banner of liberty should be waving rather than the pride flag. Besides, what did President Benson have to say about pride?
The proclamation on the family is pure eternal truth. Doctrine on same sex relationships will never change. The hope for change comes through Christ as we work with him to change our fallen nature. Thanks so much for this podcast!
Wonderful, as always! This is a battle that I am beginning to fight with my daughter, who is being very influenced by this Identitarianism doctrine. She's only 13, but she's been fighting with Identity for years now. It's difficult for me, because a lot of the arguments I would make to her are way too cerebral for her. I have to keep things very simple, and I have to keep completely non-judgmental when we talk. She doesn't understand the nuances involved, and sees it mostly as a social group to which she can belong. I mostly listen and ask questions... Above all, I need her to know that I am always there for her, that I will always love her, that I will never lie to her, and that I am willing to listen and talk about all of this.
@@trishachristensen7667 homeschooling is not an option, unfortunately. I am blessed that I have such a good relationship with her. She'll talk to me about anything and everything. I just want to make sure that I never give her any reason to count me as an enemy. When the other side tells her that her parents are against her, I want her to be able to see the lie in that without any hesitation.
I’m glad you have made a connection with her and the relationship is good. 👍🏻 For what it’s worth, one study I came across was able to correlate that an abundant physical and affectionate connection with a parent can aid in teens success with living the law of chastity. Perhaps this is already part of your associations. Keep hugging her. Keep greeting her with your embrace in your coming’s and going’s as often as you can. Where appropriate use touch with her. If either of you need warming up to it, then do that. Same goes for the Fathers and Father-Figures she has access to. I wish you all the best and much success. God be with you and the Holy Spirit ever be your guide.
Don't worry about an idea or argument being too cerebral for her. She needs to know that you have thought it through and can see and call out the pitfalls and obvious thinking errors in this agenda. And it is an agenda...to entice and entrap and destroy as many people and relationships as possible, and to do it before the youth have fully developed their own thinking and reasoning skills or have even had their first crush. Are the kids with whom she hopes to find support
May God be with you! Children are exposed to too many ideas before they have enough of a foundation to handle and make good sense of them. Thank you for serving in primary!
Excellent discussion, with great examples of the landscape that we and especially our younger folks have to deal with! To put it bluntly, you called a spade a spade … grand slam. Thanks once again!
You are right on Greg. People are losing the doctrine in the noise of modern society and losing the focus on Christ. I recently gave a talk in two wards (my home ward and another after the stake presidency asked if I would give the talk again in another ward) based largely on The Family Proclamation and addressing topics such as same-sex attraction and the essential characteristics of gender, as well as contention within the church and the concept of "bottom-up revelation." In the area where I live, it was generally very well received and I had numerous people come up immediately after expressing gratitude and many requesting copies of the talk as long as several weeks after I had given it. However, I also interestingly had one person in each ward who was visiting from the SLC area. They both loved the talk, but also both said they would not be surprised if a large portion of the audience walked out during it had I delivered the same message in a ward in the SLC area. It is very troubling how much the core doctrine of the gospel of Jesus Christ is being washed away in the tide of modern secularism.
Years ago, our bishop would announce from the pulpit things youth were participating in other than church activities. My friend talked to him and explained that this is church and isn't the forum for such things. Light years ahead of her time! Church is our time to worship Christ, not celebrating everything else! Proclamation is a foundation, a further clarification, of what is expected to align ourselves to God's plan. All are invited.
Yes, my son was into scouting and the church. Our ward would go on and on about the youth accomplishments at school and what great kids they are at the time of their ordination to the next office. My son was complimented as "tall". It hurt me. He is barely 6 foot.
This video was needed desperately. Honestly living in the Midwest I don’t see what your referring to happening here at least not yet. I was shocked when you showed the ward bulletin board during the video. It broke my ❤️ heart to see the pride colors and other post on there. I love everyone like Jesus Christ and respect others choices but my heart truly aches to see this happening within the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Sometimes I feel so helpless In what I see happening. I want the savior to come so badly. It’s becoming harder to live in this fallen worlds. I love the true gospel so much. We are all so blessed to have it.
No matter how much I have been encumbered in sin, I know I must 1) obey the Commandments; 2) repent every day of my weaknesses, and 3) surrender my devotion in its entirety to Celestial living.
After marriage my return missionary decided 2 come out of closet, glad I listened to the spirit tell me it wasn't the right 🕰️to have children as univ students was what he was telling me, but it was his secret that was what I was being warned of. So glad we have his spirit to warn & direct our lack of knowledge to protect us from making mistakes that not only affect us, but those of others as well
40:20 Here's the uncomfortable part: when you have a musket, literally or metaphorical, and if you expect to defend the Gospel, you will be entirely ineffective if you have no target. You do not repel an invading army (ideology) by firing metaphorically into the air for fear of a shot actually finding its mark and causing offense.
My wife and I were talking on the Proclamation in a teenage Sunday School class. We we're immediately challenged by a class member. My wife was then confronted by another mother of a class member a few days later. She politely told my wife that we needed to "stick to teaching from the scriptures". She then went on to lecture my wife about he we were misinformed and the the Church was "becoming more colorful."
They are diametrically opposed to humility. And they use "love" as a weapon. New question for the temple recommend: Do you support The Declaration on the Family?
I believe there already is a question that covers this. It asks if you believe or support anything contrary to the teachings of the gospel. Everything that “pride” stands for is contrary to God.
Charlie Bird is now engaged, I believe, so keeping his covenants appears to be out the window. It shows that he wasn't really serious about keeping his covenants in the first place, and he hopes that the doctrine of temple marriage will change soon. The church now has a General Young Women's President who was a big Charlie Bird promoter; it is no wonder that the youth are confused, and will continue to be, I assume.
Thank you so much for your take on this. I'm not judging anyone - however, it shocks me every day how accepted these ideas are becoming by church members, and they're attacking other church members and church leaders over it. I talk about this stuff constantly on my channel. This is not about attacking people - this is about recognizing the reality that this ideology is being used as a tool of the adversary to attack the Lord's most important creation - the family. It's Queer Theory, that pushes the idea that gender doesn't matter, that you don't have any inherent qualities as a man or woman, and that any restrictions on sexual behavior is oppressive. Not to mention, the more this ideology has taken over public life, the more we just happen to see people proudly announcing their alliance with Satanism and demonic figures.
We’re a worldwide church Greg. The message we need locally about Pride and gender confusion is not what the members in Africa need from general conference. The message should be tailored to the needs of the parietal fold.
That's exactly what I'm thinking. The local speeches and talks are tailored to the local populations. The general talks and speeches focus on general principles, with specificity about some things sprinkled in here and there.
My question isn't to the Brethren, who have addressed this many times over the years to one degree or another. My question is to the Bishops and Stake Presidents of these "influencers" and why they apparently haven't addressed these issues with them.
Well said! Many times I think fear is what gets in the way of us standing for truth. We may be worried what people will think of us, or that we may lose friends in the process, but loving God first and sharing His truth needs to be our priority!
About 20 years ago when I was a young adult, I remember reading our stakes mission statement on the wall in the lobby. It stood out to me that the first goal was to make sure true, correct doctrine is being taught in church. With everything going on now including avoidance of teaching truths in church that make people uncomfortable, it seems a return to this idea is needed. I think many of us don't speak up in church because, 1) we're not gifted at speaking clearly and communicating well, and 2) we are not fully versed in these issues to speak confidently and counter any rebuff we may get. Someone should make a cheat-sheet of these talks with quotes that we can all have with us at church.
Hahahaha *literally what I am doing as I cut and paste comments and quotes* We have a RS lesson coming up where the teacher is planning on using the Peacemaker talk to illustrate why we should be accepting and kind to lgbtq people. She’s plans on being her they/them sister as a visitor. One can only speculate as to why…..
We are free to choose the Glory we wish to attain to. There are certain standards of living to be in those areas and we are open to practicing them right now. My deepest sorrow comes from those young impressionables who follow Charlie's interpretations and counsel. My joy comes from the fact that I know Heavenly Father knows their hearts. For those who are older, there is a check on the clarity of understanding the Plan of Salvation. In all cases, by their fruits ye shall know them, over the test of time.
I don't understand why some members of the church don't love the Gospel to the point where it is sufficient. I have no inclination towards ideologies because, for me, the pure gospel of Jesus Christ is enough.
This!
This? So Charlie Bird and those like him are anti christs? And Deseret book are supporting and spreading these anti christ teachings?
and not as punishment, but to protect the church.
@@coryjudd It’s standing up for the commandments and plan of salvation set up by our Father in Heaven.
She was OFTEN attacked by feminists over saying that. She stood strong and I wish we had women who would stay strong.
Exactly. It’s what we call a false dichotomy.
Yes this is exactly it.
Do you have the name of this pastor? 🙂
Thank you for your insight .
Great perspective
Yes, as president Nelson says, we are first and foremost children of God and if we are truely followers of Christ we are willing to give up everything of ourselves. But too many rather want God to change than themselves to change. They do not want or understand the power of the atonement of the Savior. Sad.
This works for some LGBTQ, but not for all. Many who are advised that heterosexual marriage will take care of everything, find that it does not. We have to be careful not to prescribe for all what works for one (or a few.)
I love your mindset! Thank you for sharing the wisdom you've gained, this world sure needs it.
As near as I can tell, Christ never once withheld His love from anyone, but He also never once said to anyone, “Because I love you, you are exempt from keeping my commandments.” Elder Holland 2021
Love this.❤️
Once I know a member's view of the Proclamation on the Family, I immediately have a very good idea of their understanding of the Gospel and their overall level of spiritual maturity.
Thank you, this was so good to hear; very informative and reassuring in a time of mass confusion, even in the ranks of the church.
The sifting is certainly upon us, make no mistake.
Agreed. It’s remarkable that it was delivered almost 28 years ago.
Chose The Right, and the pride flag, are diametrically opposed.
Thank you, Greg, for having the courage to directly address these issues, and upholding TRUTH.
Shows how far we've fallen when it takes "courage" to take on these issues.
When President Hinckley announced the Proclamation to the Family in October 1995 at the women's session of general conference he spoke for about 30 minutes before on how to "Stand Strong against the Wiles of the World." Here is one of the quotes from that talk:
"There are those who would have us believe in the validity of what they choose to call same-sex marriage. Our hearts reach out to those who struggle with feelings of affinity for the same gender. We remember you before the Lord, we sympathize with you, we regard you as our brothers and our sisters. However, we cannot condone immoral practices on your part any more than we can condone immoral practices on the part of others."
He said these words just before announcing the Proclamation to the Family.
Penny, that is pretty direct. I was 8 at the time. Maybe instead of listening and reading the Proc, we all ought to listen to the Prophet who dictated it.

This is not okay.
they are groomers, that's their intention
It is one thing to show kindness to ALL , it is another to “March in the Gay Parade “ . Gushing over these lifestyle choices IS hurting our vulnerable youth . Some of Us are up against it and CAN NOT have church leaders “gushing “ over or promoting church celebrities whose lifestyles are against the Proclamation .
So dead on. Satan's first goal is to separate vulnerable teens from their parents, to instead get them listening primarily to these other voices.

I just listened to this with my 18 year old daughter who just graduated. She is getting ready to head to college. The light came on and she could see and understand the confusion these influencers in the church are creating. Thanks for the side by side comparison of what the Brethren are saying and what these influencers are promoting.
This makes me very happy!
You are a very keen , inspired parent and your daughter is wise beyond her years .
Great quote!

So true!

"And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:"
In the same vein, Helaman described the word of God as "quick and powerful, which shall divide asunder all the cunning and the snares and the wiles of the devil".
But then when Christians say anything controversial, they’re open to criticism of not being peacemakers.`
And later on in the same article: `So Jesus did not come to give the peace the world gives. He came to confront the world, and from that confrontation, he will make a different kind of peace`.
Lastly, I want to quote from Isaiah 57:21: "There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked."
If this is to be taken literally, then the only way we can make lasting peace with the wicked is to help them repent.

It sickens me to see this toxic waste garbage being gulped down by a great many of Father's Children.

I think that we lose the argument the minute we say the terms they have created, such as "LGBTQ community"
Just in using that term, we are categorizing human beings into false identities that tether them and us to this world.
Good point, I like it
So clear. Thank you.
Not in my country. Speaking or defending about The Family Proclamation can put you before the law courts and facing a Gaol sentence.

Thank you for standing for Truth and calling out people, even in the church. We cannot allow secularism to infiltrate God’s church
My 2 cents addressing the church not putting out enough "direct messages" and therefore leading to confusion @27:00:
The general authorities of the church have addressed gender, marriage, and chastity repeatedly and thoroughly. There is literally no excuse for confusion on this topic for those seeking truth.
The confusion comes when we use our agency to hear the words of those who seek to create confusion and division in the church, and give it place in our hearts over that which has been spoken by the Lord's annointed.

That is just utter nonsense. Do you realize that Jesus' entire New Testament ministry is spent being critical of those that call themselves "Holy people".
The Pharisees were commandment keeping zealots, and they used "The Law" as justification to cast out those that did not keep the law. So it looks like,
whether one is a self-righteous rule keeper or law breaker, both are still sinners.
There are things we must seek out for ourselves so that we may more fully understand and cherish them and so be able to grow and develop because of that earnest and sincere seeking."
I hope all of that makes sense.
It’s bad in our ward too. These people will leave anyway. It would be better to loose them and offer correction.
💯
Where is that council in the Handbook?( Dave)
Sounds like they're not handling it at all.
Spot on, thank you for putting this together and your continuing efforts for the standard of truth.
Much appreciated
This is a HUGE problem in our stake. Very liberal SLC. Thank you for speaking with love and truth.❤
I was actually driven out of one of those wards for speaking the truth. Physically removed.
We have three youth that identify as transgender in my ward. As a bishopric we have no idea how to move forward with these youth.

@@BunnyWatson-k1w - it is so difficult… my 20 year old son goes to relief society in his singles BYUI ward… 😢 I’m confused why the bishop would allow and encourage this 🤷🏼♀️

Here, here!
We should never celebrate someone breaking temple covenants
When we are told that even the elect will be deceived. 😢
@@CalledtoShare EXACTLY!!! I saw a few "prominent" members of the church celebrate their engagement too. I really don't understand why we are celebrating this? And I don't understand why anyone would throw away their membership in the church and their temple covenants.
I thought precisely the same thing...blinded by the subtle (or not so subtle) craftiness of men.
Well done, Greg. Timing is appropriate to talk about love, but to parse what compassion is vs what isn't.
Thanks Greg! Perfect message for this month..."faith over secularism"
God's law of Chastity applies to all His children, across the board. I'm always surprised at church members who seem to forget this.
It is so much more than simple chastity. It is the very nature of our Father and heavenly home.

Beautifully said. It makes me sad that so many people are trying to manipulate the doctrine of Jesus Christ to fit their own narratives.
Thank you for standing by truth. I'm thankful for those who refuse to waiver.
They are confusing our youth. Woe to those who teach children and youth the wrong way.
We had a stake leader at an adult session of stake conference about a year ago give the same kind of address. Gag me.

Glad you enjoyed it!

@@alananat6628 your comment is libelous rubbish, typical anti-Mormon fare.

I wish you the best. The ideology is contagious, pressuring, and offers a corrupt sense of belonging. I'm guessing you are a very good father.

When the other side tells her that her parents are against her, I want her to be able to see the lie in that without any hesitation.
I’m glad you have made a connection with her and the relationship is good. 👍🏻

Don't worry about an idea or argument being too cerebral for her. She needs to know that you have thought it through and can see and call out the pitfalls and obvious thinking errors in this agenda.

It’s becoming harder to live in this fallen worlds. I love the true gospel so much. We are all so blessed to have it.
It's the malevolent compassion you spoke about. Compassion for evil.
No matter how much I have been encumbered in sin, I know I must 1) obey the Commandments; 2) repent every day of my weaknesses, and 3) surrender my devotion in its entirety to Celestial living.

Many support the agenda or are too afraid to confront it.
@@CwicShow if the leaders of the church are doing it, we should be too!!!

We have a RS lesson coming up where the teacher is planning on using the Peacemaker talk to illustrate why we should be accepting and kind to lgbtq people. She’s plans on being her they/them sister as a visitor. One can only speculate as to why…..
@@tammymerryweather1062Wow. How is this appropriate?
@@cyndimcgrath9617because there is room for everyone in the gospel of Jesus Christ❤
Im so happy to hear your discourse on the 1st Great Commandment. That is so 🎯
I don't understand why some members of the church don't love the Gospel to the point where it is sufficient. I have no inclination towards ideologies because, for me, the pure gospel of Jesus Christ is enough.
Lack a testimony of Christ.
