Missed this video. Went to a new store tonight for an opening and ASW fiddler Sib drop and got a 14 year 11 month and 20 days old single barrel from 2020. Was so excited passed on a Jack 12 and 10 for it. Cannot wait to try it.
Damn wow yeah 2020 was the last year I heard they put 14-15yr old in then it shot down to 9 and nothing more. 2023 was the first year I’ve heard or seen 11yr and some 10s. Seems like 2024 has some 10s but the hope when I saw that 11 was we were working our way back up to 15 but hasn’t happened yet. Their ryes are going up though used to be 6ish I have a 9yr pick coming
I used to pick up the 9 year shelfers until I discovered the greatness of the single barrels. They're greatness in a bottle
Absolutely I always preferred the Sib picks over the shelfer.
Those KC Single Barrel Store Picks 120 Proof are so good. I switch off between those and KC 12 Year, which I have 3 bottles. I do have a KC 15 Year that I have not cracked open yet. The KC SB Store Pick I currently have is 9 years 8 months. I will look for an older one for my next bottle.
Absolutely agree I go between the picks and KC12 myself. I really like the KC15 but I know a lot of people don’t find it as good as the 12yr.
All the store picks I see in SC are 10 years old. I guess I would view one extra year as negligible. If they get 12+ years then you have my attention. But even at 9-10 years they are still. SO GOOD!!!
Yeah they are good no matter what. I hope they get higher in age than 11 but so far the 11 is a lot better than my 9

Yeah the extra age over the 9 adds perfect oak notes. I hope they go as high as the 15yrs like they used to

A few days ago some guy on reddit said that all he's seeing by him in KC 120 store picks is 10 years and 11 years! (I've only seen 9 years but I haven't looked real recently.)
Yep I just saw a 10yr 4 month the other day ages are going up haven’t seen one older than the 11 in this video though

Yeah Pa definitely picks whatever they are given lol. Luckily a few stores the next state over take some pride in what they pick. The KC12 is great though

It’s older than 9 which is all they have been putting out the last couple years. I hope they get back to ones as old as the 15s
