    Story :-
I am a 28-year-old woman who is currently disabled. I wasn't always like this, but an unfortunate event led to my current situation. Nevertheless, I choose to live my life to the fullest, and I have a great support system in my husband, James. We met two years ago when he was a physiotherapist at the hospital I was admitted to after a car accident. We quickly hit it off and started dating, and after three months he proposed. We've now been married for a year and we couldn't be happier. However, James's mother was not thrilled about our relationship at first, but eventually she came around and attended our wedding.

So, this story REALLY hit home for me! See, I am "disabled." I have a genetic disorder called Spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia, and I met a boy in high school that I fell in love with! And he liked me too!!! Some boys were too afraid of what others would think if they dated me. But not this one! His grandmother and one aunt just didn't like us being together. They didn't show any disapproval until we started getting serious, thats when it all hit the fan! They tried to bribe him, and when that didn't work, his grandmother kicked him out of her house, so he came to live with my mom and I. He chose ME over his family! I couldn't believe that! He will always be my hero! That was 33 or so years ago, and we've been married for 32 years! I love him so much for showing me true unconditional love! My oldest daughter also has this bone disorder and she has a husband that loves her the same way, but his family has always loved and accepted her!!! God made us like this for a purpose, and I am proud of who me and my daughter and I are and the amazing men God has put in our lives! 😀

Did he ever get revenge on her for disowning him for marrying you? Maybe you 2 had children and refused to let her see her great grand children or maybe she needed help herself and you both refused? I love a good revenge and the evil mother in law in this story was not shown suffering enough.

      @theresashay2088 ปีที่แล้ว +7

@Zurround! 1000 lol, he just didn't really ever have anything else to do with her, but I killed her with kindness. My revenge was him choosing me even though she was begging him to break up with me! His one aunt that tried to bribe him, told me one day that I'm the best thing that's ever happened to her nephew...🤔🤨. I couldn't even respond because I was afraid of what would come out of my mouth lol

His kindness and empathy to OP is admirable, but totally negated by standing by passively while his mother ran ramshod over his wife. Yes, he didn't know the true extent of her calumny, but just from OP's reportage, a better husband would have kicked that dumpster-fire mother to the curb long before she attempted murder. She was definitely planning on giving him an earful and try to talk him out marrying op. She probably thought that by refusing her son would do what she wanted only for it to backfire. Yeah, she was insulting op and expected a reaction when she didn't get one she was even more upset. Update 1, I could tell Op that she was putting on a facade and was planning on making op's a living hell. Op, you were in the wrong on not telling your husband on how you feel. You always NEED to communicate with him. Of course she's going to lie to him and act nice. Of course she didn't think that by STILL trying to make her own food when op cooked for everyone was going to upset her son. I can only imagine how upset she was that actually had to eat the food op made. Update 2, she actually thought that she could get rid of op and replace her with a woman she "approved" of. Yeah, she didn't expect op to actually talk back to her like that. She definitely expected him to sell the wheelchair and is mad that her "plan" didn't work. Update 4, she actually thought locking op out was going to help get what she wanted, people like her aren't smart. Of course he's immediately going to know something happened to op that's why she's dumb to think that now she "won". She was even more dumb to straight out admit that she tried to kick op out herself like she had the authority to do so. By refusing to accept op she nuked her relationship with her son.

This story pisses me off. Why didn't she just talk to her husband? I mean, I get it at the very very beginning, but why suffer in silence? Her husband wouldn't want her to suffer. I had bad in-laws, and I couldn't hold it back from my husband, I actually started crying the second we got in the car after leaving the restaurant where i met them for the 2nd time. He cut them off. I urged him to make up with them, he eventually did, then they did similar stuff, he cut them off again, and the cycle continued. But at least I kept urging him to make up with them, because his mother died. Now, his dad, all of a sudden, is tolerating me. He isn't nice, but he doesn't say anything rude and sometimes I even get an Xmas gift. But the point is, I told my husband, for god's sake, you're married, talk to your husband, do NOT hide it from them.

If my mother talk to me like that, trying to get me separated from the person I love I would tell her get out of my house. You are no longer my mother. You have to quit being rude to my spouse, the person I chose to spend my life with, and he chose to spend it with me, her son needs to see she is treating his wife like crap. It’s his mother who needs to give his wife a chance not the other way around OP has given her plenty of chances. Don’t give her any more. Don’t give her any more satisfaction, and she’s already had.

At 9:50, that's where I say, 'We don't have the resources for you to make your own breakfast today, please eat what's been prepared, or go without!'. At 11:15, tell her, 'OK, that's the last straw, I've had enough of your disrespectful attitude towards me, now pack your shit and get out of my house before I call the cops and have you removed forcefully!'. At 14:35, op's husband is such an idiot for not noticing how his mum treats her, at this point I'd have her removed and argue to get her out quickly.

Had fights with him and police did nothing. Wife left with her grandson for 6 months. After grandson got arrested and sent to military she went back to her husband.

Temporary guest, or not. Legally if you get mail delivered to house then you live there. Joseph said my 13 (at the time) year old son was ALOT more respectful to them than the 18 year old grandson. My son stayed with them for a week
I raised my son with the wording different households, different rules.
When you go to a person's home you give them RESPECT. Follow the rules for their house. My son is half Phillipino and half American. This rule has HELPED him staying with grandparents for overnight/weekends in elementary school age.
EVEN THOUGH THEY TALKED BAD ABOUT ME. Once my son came back he told me grandfather called his mother an elephant and he is the baby elephant. I told him to take it as a compliment. Elephants may be big, but they are very quiet when they move and are known as having excellent memory.

I was with an older man who was close with his Mom. I too am disabled. She controlled the family purse strings. She always told him I would be a financial burden and cost him lots of his future trust $$ medically down the road if we stayed together. Hello, I had a primary and secondary insurance and an income to pay my own bills and still do to this day. I never depended on anyone to cover my wants or needs, ever. I’m with a person because I chose too be, because I care and am in love with that person. I had to walk away. I like his Mom but the control. Nope! Karma? Let’s just say, sadly he isn’t happy, he’s still single 27 years later. Yes I’m still friends with him at a distance but very happy with my soulmate today. 😊The MIL in this event, very TOXIC. I feel the son & DIL should walk away for a serious amount of time in order for the son to make a point to his own mother. Stand their ground as a United front.

This took place in the late 70s in New England. Shortly after my job took myself & my family to Virginia. After I moved, my older brother & his wife visited US from N.C. since my S/D was on crutches at the time my brother said She was feeling Sorry for herself, and needed a Spanking. I went off on him about it. She was and is One of the STONGEST & MOST OPTIMISTIC People I have ever met. I KICKED My Brother out of my house and went NO CONTACT For a long time.

I started to think James was a Mama's boy, or at least blinded by the 'reasonable' attitude some people have, that let others get away with some truly horrendous behaviour.
OP also needed to be more forthright with James and let him know how she was feeling, rather than her 'over' considering how he felt.
A balance there needs to be found and that's for every couple.
    But the MIL? Evil personified...

The story showed just how prejudiced some people can be and how they can believe some of the most strange things. Did she really believe that the wife couldn't get pregnant or even care for her child. Her disability was caused by an accident not a genetic disability. Her baby can't inherit it from her.

    1) OP should have found out if there was some way to press some sort of charges against MIL. And if it were possible, she should have done it. 2) OP's husband sounds like a good man, but he needs to understand his mother won't change and she hinted that she could 'get rid' of OP if OP wouldn't give him a divorce which pretty much implies one thing, so I say get a restraining order as well as a serious security system for when OP is home alone. If possible, on the nights husband works, maybe OP's brother should stay with her. MIL is unhinged and quite likely to have someone harm OP or burn the house down with her in it. 3) The rest of the family along with OP and husband need to cut MIL out of their lives and her own husband (FIL) needs to leave her or tell her he is leaving until she gets some professional mental help. 4) Even if MIL does get help, if/when OP and husband have children, I don't think MIL should be allowed in their lives; she sounds unstable enough she might harm the child and try and frame OP for it or do it just to cause OP pain.
