Goapele has multiple albums, videos, concerts, and even movie appearance to showcase her talent. True, Goapele is not a pioneer of the genre, but she is still a better singer than Amel and has a better stage presence. Still, I would like to see them do a song together.
I enjoyed this. I don't understand all of the bad comments. No, she does not sound like the original hit records, BUT her improvisation, the band and her passion for music all came through in that performance.
When singers perform live, they don't necessarily sing exactly like the way their song was recorded. I'm sure many people including you, Twamda, would agree. Surely, you've been to live concerts and music showcases to witness this.

Amel wants to be different... for true groove theory fans this leaves a lot to be desired... would love for her to spend a year re-learning how to sing all those great songs and then making a proper comeback maybe even reuniting with Bryce Wilson for a groove theory tour - however she would need to stay focussed on giving us fans what we want (the original sound of the song - NOT experimental vocalisation) and for all you smart asses who wanna theorize why she doesnt sing the songs properly GTFOH and learn some scales! smh
