Great video! You would almost think MINN KOTA would want to have some videos like this, explaining in depth how to use these features… but hey what do I know. Glad you took the time!!!
Great video. I am new to my Ultrex and learning spot lock and the remote control. I appreciate the way you explain things. Thanks very much! Dave in Georgia
Excellent video and I have a quick question. I plan to install a bow mounted Minnkota saltwater trolling motor on the back of my boat. I have a rail in the front and it will not fit there. This means that the boat will not turn in the same direction as the trolling motor because when the motor turns left in the back, the boat will go right and vice versa just as it would with the boat’s engine. So my question if you are using a track, would the heading sensor control the direction of the boat even though the trolling motor is mounted at the back?
I honestly do not know what will happen in that scenario. My guess is it will work against itself. I would work to figure out a way to get it on the front
I tried this using the trolling motor around our lake . It stopped recording at some point and I thought it was time based so I tried it using the outboard at 10 mph. Same results. I didn’t realize it was distance based. How do you delete old tracks ?
When your fishing do you leave your remote set to always on, or a different amount of time. If you leave the remote to always on how do the batteries hold up?
The batteries hold up really well. Our remote does go to sleep if no buttons are pushed for awhile, but its for a pretty long amount of time before it does so
I have a terrova with the new style remote. When I record a track it will follow it to a certain point and then it's like it loses the track and just heads straight toward the bank. Any idea what might cause this?
When you are making a track with the outboard motor and the trolling motor is not deployed and the control head is is approx. 4 0r 5 ft from the center of the bow of the boat. Do you think the track would be more accurate if the track was made with the trolling motor and not the outboard because the control head would be approx. @ the center of the boat. Just wondering if you have tried that or noticed a difference.
We have actually learned here lately the faster you go the better the track. We record on plane now. I guess if you were worried about that you could deploy the motor but raise it all the way out of the water? It really dont seem to matter alot
@@bluegrassstateofmind4542 after watching your video, I got off my lazy rear and did a little reading ..... actually this same route learning/saving can be accomplished right from the fishfinder (ipilot linked Ulterra + Humminbird Solix in my case) without even using the TM remote. And to answer my own question, the saved routes are displayed, so real easy to go back to them. Last year was first time I did any trolling using TM and fishfinder together with autopilot/cruise control and I didnt want to try to get too fancy just learning the electronics, but this is actually a really simple and extremely useful feature. Cant wait for this summer!
@@bluegrassstateofmind4542 Jog would be helpful - for example, how to jog more than 5 feet. Say, you want to go roughly 20 feet to the right and 10 feet forward...etc. Is it press wait. Press wait. Press wait. Or can you press press press press right then press press forward?
Does the motor follow a track any more smoothly than it maintains a line with advanced auto pilot, or does it make the same severe corrections to stay “on line”?
The motor will follow a track smoothly, if it is recorded smoothly. Recording while on plane is best for this if at all possible. My smoothest tracks are ones recorded at 30+ mph.
Thank you for the great video, it certainly helped me. The question I have is, do you have to start at one end or the other or can you start in the middle somewhere? Thanks.
Great video, I followed your instructions to a T, just one question, is there a way of “naming” your saved track so you know which one it is when you come to use it when you are back in that location?
Once a track is recorded, you can hop on it at any point of the track. You need to be fairly close distance wise- around 500 feet I think?. When you select the track and end/start of that track, the motor will take you to the nearest point on the track and then make a sharp turn onto the track. These turns can be kinda wicked, so be ready!
If you wanted to lay a longer track than 2 miles, would you just hit record again once you end your first track? I usually troll on large lakes longer than 2 miles. Just wondering what your thoughts were on that?

Same with Lowrance. Why are their design engineers not allowed to leave the office and get on a boat to real world show us this tech we are using?
Did not even think of recording tracks using my outboard. Great tip! Thank you!

Good video ! Good bluegrass music, and thanks for showing us old folks some good stuff !
Thanks for sharing. I just bought a M K Terrova for my Bass Tracker. I can’t wait to get it installed and start fishing with it. So stoked!
Thank you. It really helps me to understand how to do something when I can see it being done. 👍
Thank you Scott, fixing to mount a minn kota on my boat and this will be a tremendous help!
You will love it. Make sure to put it in Legacy mode. I have a video on it too.
Great information, I was unsure of a couple things and you cleared it up for me, thanks for sharing. Keep up the good work 👍
Appreciate it!! That I Pilot is a game changer for sure
Only Video i found that show you how to use . thanks I will try what I learned this weekend .
Thanks again Tried it today and worked perfectly .
Great information I assumed the motor had to be deployed to record a route, thanks for sharing!!
Nope. Its just needs to be on

@@gearjammer89 that is strange. Check and make sure youbare in legacy mode instead of advanced. Legacy has proven to be more steady for us

When you are following a i-track , have you tried using the reverse button on the remote? If so how does it perform. Thanks Danny
@@dannypaul3333 i have not tried that
That is a sweet set up
When following the track can you stop it and resume, like when you have to maneuver because you get a lure stuck.
Yep
Can you spot lock during the route and then pick it up where it left off?
Not sure about that one. I will have to try and see
Does the motor beep to indicate the end of the 2 mile track? Or does the motor just stop @ the end of the 2 mile track with mode on off?
Yes it makes a noise.

Switch to legacy mode. Advanced mode is garbage for slow trolling.
