I still can't believe my internet legacy consists of a Tweet informing people about Linkara's love for gay dead Muppet gangbangs that got read by Mister Metokur.
Great video series, by the way. I like how you're not just (completely justifiably) shitting on these movies but giving out genuinely interesting information that a lot of people, including myself, were unaware of.

10/10 harder then Linkara when he sees the Green M&M

This fucked me up.
Harder than Marzgurl when she doxxed Vic’s mom.
@@judyhopps9380 wait what happened?
@@SomeKindaSpy Mr Metokur did a deep dive into everyone who worked on Channel Awesome.
In Iron Liz's case she wasn't contracted to work for channel awesome at the time, but suffered an injury during filming of suburban knights. Before they got her first aid, the higher ups and Doug made her sign a disclaimer/waver absolving them.
A fun story about a filmmaker going the distance for the film:
In Crimson Tide, the director wanted to get a shot of a submarine diving, Namely tge USS ALABAMA. He asked the Navy, and they flat out refused. So the team went to a US submarine base and just waited for days until a submarine left the base, even waiting until the Alabama went in to resupply and then went back out to sea.
They also made sure that it wasn’t illegal to film a submarine from afar. Good thinking on their part.
It was just coincidence that the boat they filmed was the one the movie took place on.
I find it ironic that Angry Joe who's character is an insane rager, is one of the only ones who didn't turn out to be insane in that lot.

Literally the best way to summarize how Linkara is, is by watching his reaction to OneyPlays talking about him. They didn't even like make fun of him they talked about his shitty comic book character Lightbringer. He still got stupidly pissed at Chris and Zach. While Doug reacted and said that he enjoys their takes and their comments.
All while he claims he's not bothered at all (bullshit) and has totally never even seen one of their videos (double bullshit).
I've always found his reaction to Oney hilarious, because they were a lot more harsh on Doug and his flaws and failures whereas they just poke fun at Linkara.
What always separated Doug from his hangers-on was his sincere gratitude to even have an audience in the first place.
@@mariokarter13 thats not true ....like at all lol

@@EvilDoresh Yeah, and his backpedaling on it is another important part of his character. Lewis always adjusts his positions based on what he perceives to be popular.
You know those tv show characters (mostly in cartoons) that are stereotypical nerds or geeks but are so smarmy, egotistical and smug that you enjoy their failures? Ya know, like Bubble Bass or Rick from The Young Ones - the guys who think they’re better than everyone else because they’re “intellectuals.”
That’s Linkara, but he’s REAL

THE LIGHTBRINGER
@TenebraeXVII it's deeper than that, Minnesota isn't even real
As somebody who has worked in the film and television industry, it always baffles me how online personalities like Linkara decide to use their budgets when they get funded for projects like this. I've seen and worked on films made for next to nothing that are better than anything Linkara has done because they bothered to: hire professional actors, rent a high quality camera, rent professional lighting, and sound equipment and hire crew members that know how to utilize the equipment properly. People like Linkara don't understand they'll never be taken seriously as filmmakers because they lack a basic understanding of what goes in to making a "legitimate" movie. Worst of all, Linkara refuses to learn about the filmmaking process in any way and don't even bother to try and improve on his previous works technically or artistically.
It's kind of like meeting that one kid who made a funny video project with his friends for class back in highschool after 10 years. They claim they're a filmmaker now, then they show you their movie and it looks exactly the same as their video from high school. Some people just don't get it. Maybe it's Linkara's ego, or maybe he just never really cared.
Probably because no professional that isn't desperate for money would take this project on.
Or they would have to change it up so much it wouldn't even result in AT4W movie.
I mean, even for a movie about himself....would you even cast Linkara as the main character? As an actor even?
To be fair, you could say the same about the CA movies.
What really gets me is the direction. There wasn't any, at least not in the sense anyone who knows anything about filmmaking would recognize. How else do you explain shots like 23:18, 23:26, 25:18, or 39:00?
You could have the nicest camera, lighting, and sound in the world and it wouldn't make 17:48 look decent. It wouldn't make everyone look in the right direction, or make all the red solo cups vanish.
I think it was a feature creep. They wanted to cram in too much and lost control, so they have to sacrifice something. Sadly it was quality.
The only one of this group that did anything of worth while was Brad Jones. The films I saw of his, send that he at least understands how to actually shoot a film on a micro budget and the basic fundamentals of film making.
Fun fact: Linkara is still upset that Doug didn't give a shit about him leaving Channel Awesome and expected him to make some kind of heartfelt goodbye AFTER Linkara contributed to the #changethechannel document that almost ruined Doug's career.
And to think, Lewis could've had a renaissance of popularity just like Doug if he'd only reacted positively to Chris's impression of him.
From what I've read, ol Kinky Linky had already made himself a reputation as an autistic pain in the ass around the few sorta normal guys in the Channel Awesome leadership. I get the impression he wasn't exactly liked. And I can see it. I went through a month phase years ago where I watched a bunch of Linky videos, as I'm also a fan of comics. I started off the month liking him. But as that month wore on, I found his stupid voice, stupid hat, condescension, dumb skits, shit takes on comics, constant political virtue signaling, poor understanding of storylines, and over all sperged out jackass behavior irritating as shit and won't watch him. Then a few years later Metokur made his video on him and I realized, "yeah, I knew I didn't like this guy for a reason".
If nothing else, Linkara is the dicionary definition of having your cake and wanting to eat it too.
Guru Larry handled it like a Chad.

Hi Liz.
It's completely unfair to compare linkaras film with thunder road and clerks, etc. Those films were made by people with talent.

Hide your green M&Ms and Muppet plushies, it's time for Atop the Fourth Wall.
What *is* CA-era Linkara's power fantasy, anyway? He touches on so many of them at once that it's impossible to work out. Does he want to be a suave, classy, and charismatic crooner? A stern, troubled, yet respected Picard-like commander? A superhero? An angel? Doctor Who? It's like he sees a new bit of media he likes every couple of weeks and it completely takes over the creative part of his mind until he sees something else. I'd call it a symptom of autism, but... it's not like we need to dig *that* deep to work that out about him.
Loli is totally correct: Linkara is a less talented Neil Breen.
There seems to be some commonality. It seems like he sincerely wants to be seen as some powerful but mysterious and intelligent gentleman. Like he thinks he'll be intriguing while acting like he knows better than everyone.
i think all of those combined. he wants to be both feared and respected. he wants SOME kind of love, respect, or recognition of his supposed "talents", and yet when someone gives an honest criticism to him he sees it as an attack on his character or talent. It's really sad to see, as it's pretty common with most guys who spend way too much time on frivolous topics and put far too much investment into their internet persona. It's a joke about bread lines.

@@LethargicGM
It’s more than just bread lines.
They take their name from Kropotkin’s “The Conquest of Bread,” which is an idealistic screed about how great socialism is. I think the central premise is about the need to control food supply to give the world True Communism(tm), but it ends with an admission that his vision is idealistic and wouldn’t work with the realities of life.
So for Breadtube to take that name is a very amusing admission of not having self-awareness to those of us in the know.

He was blinking away tears as he laughed at Linkara
I think he means blink as in surprise him with your power. The god underestimates you so you stand your ground and scare it.
But then he froze

I like that "You've never stared in the face of an angry god... and then YOU stare back at it". He was already staring at it. Is he double staring at it? Did he look away and then look back so he could stare at it again? Did he adjust his glasses between staring sessions and how he can actually see it?

Long-time Linkara fan, here;
He was one of the first TH-cam reviewers I really started seriously following, and for a long time, he was my favorite reviewer on all of TH-cam, and even an inspiration for a few of my very small video backlog [like, the two actual reviews I made] I genuinely like his videos, his 'History of Power Rangers' series genuinely got me interested in a franchise I'd originally just written off as stupid -and I still am, to this day, BTW.
Heck; the clip of his refutation of Doug's 'Bat Credit Card' bit is probably the most popular video on my channel, to the point where I think even OneyPlays cited it and directly or indirectly directed their fans _to_ _my_ _video_ , a fact I genuinely find humbling.
By all indication, he seemed like a genuine dude, a guy who just loved comics and the wild and wacky superhero medium, who openly and unashamedly enjoyed the crazier side of the funnybooks. I didn't want to accept that he was really a bad person, I also simply took Metokur's expose on him to just be an embarrassing edgy teenage phase he wants to forget about.
But... as time went on, and political discourse in general became more... stupid... it started to slowly bleed into his videos, and my doubts finally began to properly manifest. But even during his cringe-inducing three-part defense of 'The Last Jedi' -and the majority of my counterarguments he just flat-out ignored; I simply took it as nothing more than a bad take born from a different opinion. Then I discovered Kinky-Linky, and I accepted the hard truth; that Lewis 'Linkara' Luvhog is a complete, narcissistic @$$hole.
I still watch his videos. For now, I can still separate the art from the artist -MOST of the time. But, now that I know what lies beneath the surface? Now that I know what he's really like? Now that I know its only a matter of time before I can no longer separate the art from the artist?
Well... Its been a wild ride.
I've known for a while, now, that I'll one day have to cut him out of my feed, altogether. But after the JSG fallout; I've come to realize just how fallible the majority of people, in general, are, and none of the people I follow are any exception. And knowing the Linkara ride is coming to an end? Well, it all just adds a layer of soft bitterness to the whole circumstance.
I wish things were different, I wish he'd just take his shortcomings on the chin and laugh at himself like the rest of us, to just own up to being a gross deviant in his youth [like we all were, let's be honest. Don't lie to me] and to make 'The Lightbringer' a frequent recurring character in his videos. I wish someone I looked up to in my younger days could be humble, could truly be inspirational.
But... he is, after all, only human. And humans are not immortal. Everyone dies, everything fades... and everything comes to an end.

I have a personal story about Linkara. Some years ago, not that long after the change the channel document, Linkara made one of his milestone videos, I think it was his 600th video or something like that. Anyways, in the beginning of the video Linkara talk about his past, but purposely leav out trying out for the tgwtg contest. Making a joke about him not beaing inspierd by anyone else. So I make this comment on the video "still bad blood between you and channel awsome I see."
Literally 10 seconds later (I am not exaggerating) Linkara reply to my comment. Asking me why I hadd to drag up drama and bring down the mode on such a happy day. the before I can even reply to Linkara I get an other reply. And that has to be one of the most aggressiv comments I have ever gotten, reading more like a parodi of an angry youtube comment, lot of swear words. But of course Linkara hadd no problem with that comment. Anyway I told Linkara that I only trolled him a littel about it becuse, you know, he made a joke about it in his video. Linkara then told me that I hadd missunderstod the joke, and that he hadd pland to make it look like doug walker hadd nothing to do with the creation of his show long before the channel awsome document. I call BS but either way how was I supposed to know that. He also is perplexed at the very consept of one of his fans making a joke at his expense, asking me why I would think to do something like that. He also informed me that he would not tolerate bad behavior and would not hesitate banning me. Agien completely ignoring that pargaph long comment calling me every swear word known to man.
Anyway I get kind of pissed at this point, and tell him that yes I am indeed willing to make jokes about pepole I like, and that it was he who choosed to respond to the comment about the drama, insted of the comment I hadd made earlier congratulating him on his milestone.
He then told me that he was too busy to respond to every comment, because if I had not noticed, he got a lot of comments and he hadd work to do.
I scrolled true alle 500 comments on the video at the time. Literally all of them vere just congratulating him or wishing him the best, exept two that who noticed that Linkara's voice was a little of. They were the only other comments Linkara hadd responded to, telling them that he indeed hadd a sore throat.

How the hell did Linkara rope Lanipator into this? Dude somehow got one of the founding Team Four Star members to take part in a "movie" as a character that's carried by his performance.
Same as takahata 101 just ask and they work for free, joking aside linkara may had just ask Lani while in a Con Lani just said sure why not
TeamFourStar was actually really close to Channel Awesome early on. When TFS got their channel taken down by Funimation the first time, CA actually stepped in and hosted DBZA on TGWTG. As a result, TFS was really friendly with the CA guys. So Lanipator being in Linkara’s movie makes sense.

Five bucks says linkara will make a tweet complaining about this
My favorite cringe moments:
1) The middle portion of the movie where Linkara's various side characters impart deep wisdom on those _lesser_ characters. Also includes an OOC moment for Lupa (90's Kid lectures Lupa about the wonders of loving terrible crap from the 90's, even though afaik Lupa's reviewer shtick is loving terrible crap from the _80's_ ; you'd think they shouldn't need until the grand finale to become BFFs)
2) That studio / warehouse used in the finale just kills the mood. I know these movies aren't exactly known for professional lighting, but this was supposed to be a derelict base on a moon of Jupiter (I _think_ ). It shouldn't be the most brightly lit set in the entire movie - especially not if you want to use it for horror and action.
3) You'd think the finale would be more of a team effort, but Linkara is really the only important contributor. _He_ figures out the villain's secret, and _he_ takes him out _twice_ (having your reviewer buddies stand behind you to power up your magic ghost girl gun doesn't count).
If he had less of an ego he could've used himself as bait / distraction (since MechaKara hates him more than those other people he's barely interacted with)
4) The derpy costume and robot walk of the "upgraded" MechaKara. When the first budget Power Rangers villain you had in your storyline has a more threatening costume and presence than the most powerful version of your archnemesis, you might want to reconsider a few things.
Lol. Talking about Lord Vyce, there?

@@EvilDoresh Phealous never really had any lore. It always felt like he was taking the piss out of Linkara for trying so hard.
For a guy who was really upset during the change the channel controversy, Linkara really loves drawing all of his influences from Channel Awesome's movies.
That's a carryover from how the superhero comics he reads handle continuity across series, early on he used to crossover with Spoony's Dr Insano character as a villain for his reviews and shit, until later on when Lewis introduced an alternate universe Dr Insano played by himself so he could use the character without having to rely on Spoony being avaliable.
He also had a whole plot about an alternate terrorist version of himself or something (I don't think it was Mecha Chara) threatening to blow up Marvel HQ to make them delete One More Day from Spiderman canon, and Lewis giving an awesome speech about how they shouldn't take the easy way out but instead do it right and make a good story to retcon the whole thing, and I guess something about how terrorism was kinda outta line or something.
Point is dude takes continuity in indefinitely running episodic shit that isn't designed to have a serialised continuity in the first place very seriously, both in his hobbyies as well as his channel, he was part of Channel Awesome at some point so he has to find a way to keep continuity and reestablish the status quo when no one but him gives a fuck about it.

ERod had one of the strangest relationships with fans.
He used to complain A LOT about not making enough money, getting screwed by people, being an unknown among thousands of reviewers... And yet he treated his fans like trash.
He and his team used to give really dry and harsh answers when fans asked basic questions.
I remember when people asked him if he had watched the BvS trailer, his reponse was "OF COURSE I'VE SEEN IT. STOP SENDING ME THIS MESSAGE. WHOEVER KEEPS ASKING THIS WILL BE BANNED.'
So he was basically Spoony without the talent ? maybe a little worse than Spoony actually.
Linkara never fully figured out what made AVGN and Nostalgia Critic so popular. He was never able to laugh at himself. James and Doug made characters that were not heroes by any stretch and made it very clear that they are overreacting in an attempt at self deprication of how pathetic and narcissistic the fandoms they frequent can be. Linkara believes everything he says is important and he is better than you, making his pouting at his parodies over the years an inevitability.
But then again, that worked in context a decade ago. In the Golden Age of Channel Awesome (so, until about Suburban Knights), he existed in the broader environment of the other "angry reviewers" of the site. In that context, he formed a bit of a Freudian Trio with the two other biggest reviewers there: the NC was a the Id (a deranged, self-centered, borderline villainous manchild character), Spoony was the Ego (unlike most angry reviewers, he didn't play a separate persona, automatically making him the most natural and "normal" one) and Linkara was the Superego (the nicest, most morally upstanding of the three, eventually evolving into a kind of gadgeteer superhero character).
However, once that dynamic (which only loosely existed, to begin with) fell apart, so did the three of them. NC became self-absorbed and chasing his past glory, Spoony couldn't divorce his real life and his online activity, and chose to abandon the latter, and Linkara became more self-righteous and overbearing over time.
very true, lewis took himself way too seriously.

I have just realized something about Linkara. He got relentlessly bullied for his lightbringer comic because it was bad and an outlet for his narcissism. So he took the lesson to heart stopped with the lightbringer and chose to use a different medium to tell his most important message to all. That message is: "Linkara is the most brilliant person there is to walk the planet" and you can now see this in the "lore" of his internet comic reviews. That is a lot of determination in the face of adversity.
It makes you wonder if he decided to took this persona of someone who reviews bad comics so that he could say "oh yeah, my comics are bad? Well look at comics that are WORSE"
Linkara has been a dick to me on 3 separate occasions. Doug has always been an absolute saint. I used to be a fan but talk about disappointment meeting him was awful and his reaction to oneyplays is pathetic

Sure, the premise is more than that, but his character's aim as the Nerd in that film had to do with reviewing a crappy game, which is what he does, right? So why doesn't Linkara's movie have to do with reviewing a bad comic? Was he actually arrogant enough to believe that his fans wanted to see him make a film about his character, rather than reviewing a film?
(of course, he is, what am I talking about?)
"Was he actually arrogant enough to believe that his fans wanted to see him make a film about his character, rather than reviewing a film?"
Pretty much, yeah?
From the perspective of someone who did watch Linkara for a while at the beginning, it was maybe about 2-3 years in where he seemed to think the size of his audience meant he could start telling a story in his videos that people would want to see. He honestly seemed surprised when like half the people who watched his videos were leaving comments like "dude why you keep stopping the review for 5-10 mins to have a dumb fight with ur evil twin who cares about that sh!t". Which made him move all that stuff to the end of the video so people who just wanted to see the reviews could just see that without getting mad about the dumb interruptions.
But he still thought he could make this big space epic a lot of his fans would want to see. Even though a *big* part of them made it clear they didn't care about his lore, and he actually changed his structure to make them happy.

19:27 I can tell you why Linkara sees Mecha-kara as his ultimate foe. He's a Trekkie, and the Borg are one of the toughest foes the Federation in Star Trek ever fought. So basically, a Borg version of Linkara is a foe that Linkara sees as the pinnacle of threats, since it's a foe that knows him and can adapt to his strategies. This is literally the extent of his imagination: some junk pile that looks like him and can adapt to his strategies is the ultimate evil in his mind. That's how predictable Linkara is as a creator: he needs an ultimate villain, he's a Trekkie, so he just plucks a villain straight from Star Trek, adds his face to it, and places that in as the ultimate villain for his movie. It's so predictable that it's funny. Of course, a comic book fan and a Trek fan would have such a predictable final foe.
Mechakara was originally Pollo (the little blue robot) from another universe with a robot uprising. He came to this world through hypertime to figure out how magic works to try and stop humanity from successfully rising against the robots. He has more in common with the Terminator than the Borg.
Linkara's "ultimate enemy" is either Lord Vyce (literally a power rangers villain) or the Entity (MissingNo from Pokemon. Really.)
@@HalfTangible Yet the fact that he's basically become a Borg ripoff (down to the whole assimilating crewmen and adapting to the enemy thing) pretty much means that in the end, Linkara just has a Borg version of himself.

35:03 the writing with his voice and the dialogue makes it seem like a funny intentionally bad performance... then it keeps going... and it keeps going... and it gets edgier... and you realize he saw this as some deep moment in his head.
I was literally expecting a comedic ramp-up. "YOU'VE never had your SHOES tied together after gym class by bullies so you TRIP when you try to WALK!!" "YOU'VE never had to take a JAR to your DAD's house because you're too WEAK to open it YOURSELF!!" "YOU'VE NEVER HAD YOUR MINECRAFT SAVE CORRUPTED!! YOU DON'T KNOW MY PAIN!!"
21:40 The funny thing about Mecha-Kara is that Lewis wants us to act like this guy is a serious villain, but he's just Lewis with some robot parts sticking out. It is so hard to take seriously when the villain looks that fucking cheap. Even Malachite had more style back in Suburban Knights; the glasses, the black trenchcoat and hat, in a more serious script, he could've been a real killer, like Anton Chigurh in No Country for Old Men, but at least Doug knew where his strengths laid and made the guy a laughingstock, and as a comedic villain, it worked.
Lewis wants to write a serious Star Trek-style episode, but his bad guy looks even cheaper than most Trek villains who have goofy costumes or headbumps. It's hard to take an enemy seriously when it looks so cheap. It was hard enough to take it seriously back in Star Trek, and it's even harder to take it seriously here, when it looks so cheap. He could've done better by making the movie a Linkara episode reviewing a comic, with the crew commenting on how bad said comic is, while just having Mecha-Kara harass the crew now and then or maybe even offer his two cents on the comic.
Linkara acting all high and mighty over his crew because he's fought other silly characters in his videos is one of the more hilariously bad parts of the film. As if his serious tone would hide the fact that most of it is him and his mates poorly remaking conflicts from other, better works. The fact that Lewis took it so seriously as to have his character hold it over the others makes this ego-trip especially cringe. You don't see the AVGN talk about how serious things are that he's fought demons, Bugs Bunny, the Joker, or some other shit. He treats it like a joke, because it is a joke, and that's why it works.
And of course, Linkara being a Trekkie, his worst enemy is a Borg version of himself. That is so unimaginative, so uninspired, and it's such cringe that he takes that opponent way too seriously. I can understand why he'd see it that way, since he's a Trek fan, the Borg are one of the biggest, if not the biggest antagonists in Star Trek, so Lewis thought that a Borg version of himself who knows him thoroughly would be the most intimidating foe. What he doesn't realize that, in practice, it looks fucking silly, and people who aren't Trek fans or don't buy into how epic his lore is would look at that and laugh their asses off when Linkara treats it like a serious threat.
Given the tone of these review shows and the movies that came before Linkara's film, it would've made more sense to have a bad comic villain who likes Frank Miller or Rob Liefeld's stuff be the main bad guy. Shit, he can have it end by having said villain get iced by Mecha-Kara, and that would've actually been fun. Have it so that Mecha-Kara at first joins this villain because he wants to kill Linkara, but then the villain and his arguments turn out to be so cringe that Mecha-Kara does an enemy mine and kills the villain for Linkara. It would fit the tone of his show (silly battles and hating on bad comics) and it would be goofy and funny enough to be in-line with the silly tone of these review shows and the Channel Awesome movies that Linkara was making a sequel to.
MechaKara also had a rather silly _start_ . He was literally just hiding in Linkara's house for multiple episodes while making "threatening" monologues.
@@EvilDoresh Exactly. That's the kind of villain suited for a silly comedy film, not a supervillain who can threaten worlds.
Honestly... Lord Vyce was more intimidating, but he got nerfed and then kicked out of the universe for being too cool.
Linkara is rhe definition of "reset the clock" meme and the notion of "the louder you preach the more likely you're guilty of something similar"
Linkara trying to ACT and read lines with that lisp is the vocal equivalent of using a spork to cut a steak.
I think Linkara's hatred of Frank Miller stems from Linkara's inability to separate fiction from the actual views of the artist: let me explain. In Stephen King's IT there is a homophobic police man and when I was young I assumed this meant King hated gay people. It's only after I grew up that I understood that, unless the author intentionally does so, personal views in fiction are rarely a one to one match. Linkara would know this unless either A.) He still writes like all the good guy characters are just him with a different name because his writing has barely improved or B.) He just wants the satisfaction of being morally better than someone with more talent *so badly* that he'll use any evidence he can find of a failing, no matter how tenuous. TLDR version: Linkara would assume the author of American Psycho is a serial killer irl. EDIT: Though it's just as likely the Lightbringer good guy characters aren't just him and I'm reading too much into things just like he did with Miller.
Of course I could be just as wrong about Linkara's comic characters just being him several times over. Never read Lightbringer and the opinions in his work could just as likely not be *his* opinions but those of his characters. The point is Linkara should be knowledgeable enough to give Frank Miller the same slack.
Linkara's attitute has grown quite disgusting in the last few years. I used to just go with it because he was the only one out there talking about certain comics, but at some point I just had to stop because his personality became unbearable. The fact that he lashed out at his fans for the flimsiest of reasons is what really got me. It's like he took the "angry nerd" persona and forgot it was supposed to be an act.
Linkara started as the one reviewer on Channel Awesome that didn't swear and wasn't gross... until he started to get gross and also started taking political potshots.
@@hariman7727 the political potshots would be more tolerable if he didn't get so personal all the time and was willing to take the shit coming his way, like this dude can't just be like "not gonna lie that was pretty cringe" and end it there, he has to make some mega speech full if vitriol over every little thing he dislikes while expecting others to treat him with gloves and suck his dick, and I say this as someone who generally aligns with him politicaly and such.
@Dreadjaws yeah, it's like there's a principal's office segment in every episode but that was a thing since day one, it's how the infamous history of power rangers rant got started.
Imagine telling off your boss when they wanna use your fanfiction nemesis ironically
Tbh he should feel **honoured** they wanted to use his character at all, I would be
@@koshavinka2995It reminds me of a minor controversy in the Change the Channel document about a former contributor complaining Doug used a clip form one of his videos without permission. Like dude, he’s giving you free publicity, what are you complaining about? and the icing in the cake is that it was a review of The Big Lebowski festuring footage fron said movie that, I doubt got the permission to use from the Cohen brothers.
At 7:51 What Linkara seems like something MauLer will say at some point regarding his eternal TFA review.
And Game of Thrones series finale video.
I like Mauler
Even Berserk has a steadier release schedule.
Linkara is basically what I envision most redditors look and sound like. Complete with the utter lack of self-awareness and having no real opinions outside what makes them sound righteous.
So back when I was a big CA fan, I did watch Linkara, lore included. Mentioning the filming in the woods reminded me of something, where in lore Link Boy first defeated Viceroy (the dude who had the spaceship first), he deserted him on an "arctic alien planet" which was just the fucking woods in winter. You are absolutely correct on that.
Well, to his (probably accidental) credit, he didn't say *ant*arctic. The arctic actually has flora.
@Mariner1712 That's true, but I mainly meant that Loli is absolutely correct in that outdoor scenes could have been done, and the fact he wasted money with the filming set is frustrating.
Wasn't that Lord Vice?
I'm in acting school, and this movie should be taught as what not to do. Jesus, this is aggravating.
AND THEN YOU FROZE
@@charlie1234500 OF COURSE
@@charlie1234500 Fuck, I heard that line as "And then you broke" meaning that after all his "epic battles" (ugh) he had become a shell of a man unable to continue moving forward. My bad for thinking there was even a bit of competency in this dumbster fire of a movie
I remember when I watched Linkara, I used to just skip the “lore” and skits. Even back then it was just so cringe…
Jesus I had no idea The Void was a kickstarter movie
Even if it was only used to finance the practical effects that's impressive as hell
Linkara is a smarmy sanctimonious tool who derides the depiction of female characters in comics whilst also having questionable kinks. He's a massive hypocrite and just like his contemporaries he doesn't criticise the art, he wants to dictate the art.
I must say I envy your vocab
Did any of the creators, including Linkara, who complained about Channel Awesome focusing way too much on Nostalgia Critic in the Channel Awesome document not take into account that the reason for that might have been because their content fucking sucked compared to Doug Walker’s?
That thought never crossed their minds even once. They genuinely seemed to think the only reason they weren't as big as Doug was because he was holding them back. Not because they were not as good as they thought they were, it's all the evil Walkers!
@@BunkerFox The best part is, a majority of their channels are pretty much dead and are essentially corpses for sites like Encyclopedia Dramatica to have their way with.
Producers: “Doug took up too much of the site and we never got a chance!”
The same producers: “Doug never told us he was retiring and we depend on him for views!”
FFS, make up your minds people!
One of the big differences between AVGN and other Angry Reviews is
1. He went to movie school so At least know the basics of how to use a camera And set up a scene
2. AVGN knew what he's doing, He was a dude making videos in the basement with a cheap camera with the budget of a monthly salary, the Main inspirations were Troma B-movies, dumb, Fun, exaggerated (because the actors are cheap too) and mostly import is doable
3. He never broke the rhythm of the review, the most fantastic one "where he fights a gigantic robot in Nintendo toys" It was all about the episode where is he angry reviewed shitty gimmick toys that Nintendo licensed...and it all ended in a stupid fight
Linkara is an example of everything that was wrong at the time,
he didn't have the technical knowledge to do what he wants make...but make poorly and fucking the scene,,
take "make videos in the basement" to fucking serious, And everything is just flat shots of people talking or embarrassment on a green screen...but is serious and emotional moment, -say the dude in a nerf gun shooting plugin at Mannequin
It's the worst part, he honestly think people came to see he, not the content, but the he Linkara the Bringer of Light himself
45:50 fun fact: James Cameron filmed most of Terminator during the night just so that he wouldn't have to worry about lighting and getting permits to film in the streets
"Yeah, Doug not taking everyone to Applebee's is canon."
the little “y-you”s that he keeps doing during his monologue makes me wanna throw myself off a building
Yeah it’s like bro, you can’t convince me your supposed to be some kind of badass when you sound and look like curly
@@GigaChadh976 Lewis has neither the physique nor the voice to make for a convicting action hero.
@@horaciosi and he doesn’t have the charisma to be paul blart
Linkara justified swatting people. that's all you need to know about who he is.
Well, technically he denied that the swatting happened. Still shitty, just a different shitty
Linkara could stopped 9/11. Doug just needed to have listen to him
Linkara would work great as a modern James Bond villain. His end goal would be to turn all men into women and give all women pp's. He could be called Brownfinger and his transray would be inside the giant green m&m at the center of the earth.
I always wanted to see James Bond fight a Pyramid Head Pokemon.
Is he a "balls" or "no balls" kind of guy?
@@seg162 no balls for his onee-chans, massive balls for everyone else.
