I'd like to be the first person to say Thank you. You're a savior. Now I know why my cartridges are not detected. I changed them while the screen is on Ink Volume. I threw away so many cartridges thinking they're faulty. I also now know that the chips don't store the ink volume info and is re-usable and ALSO slide-able. Thank you, sir. I wish I come across your videos earlier.
Nicely done, thank you! Calculate genuine ink cost in gallons...$2000/gl. Ilike my Brother printer but puleeeze! Just found another trick...unplug machine, install cartridges, working so far.
THANK YOU!! THIS PRINTER GIVES ME ANXIETY - I have a MFC-J6530DW and this hack WORKED! THANK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!! Also works for LC3019 cartridges. :)
All printers are now designed to give you anxiety, its a ploy to get you to spend more $$$ unnecessarily. For this reason I advise my business customers to run a small B/W Laser printer like the HL2270dw in their office. It means you can always print (cheaply), the unit is compact and doesn't take up too much space and will work for 60000pages before requiring maintenance.
@TerryJonesPrinterRepairs I have a J6730DW using LC3317. Can the flag window be covered with tape or marker to avoid the cartridge being detected as empty, or will the printer still record the chip as empty after use? Also, does the chips ID only get recorded as empty by the printer after the flag has moved? In other words can the same chip ID (e.g. a guenuine cart) be reused indefinitely provided the cart is kept topped up or the flag is covered? Your videos are an awesome help, ty.
Hi, I just bought a printer with new genuine cartridges then bought some replacements off ebay that look the same as per this video that are not detecting, where do I get the chips heads from that will work as the genuine cartridges are different? thanks for the video.
from your "ebay seller" its their responsibility if their product is faulty. Have you watched this video? th-cam.com/video/kvmPKzuoOMU/w-d-xo.html If the ink in your cartridges is not like my ink or the genuine ink, DO NOT USE IT!
Genuine brother ink chips requires reset to change the chip serial number. The chips I show here on my cartridges automatically change the chip serial number everytime the cartridge it removed and put back in the printer to make the printer think a new cartridge is installed.
Hi Jones, I have a brother mfc j6510dw printer that does not recognize compatible black cartridges. It's the first time I've had these problems and the printer is in excellent condition. I have made many unsuccessful attempts and even online I have not found anything, I always follow your videos and I wonder if you can help me. I thank you Carlo
@@chrcreativeservice5454 Not sure if this helps... I have appreciated having Brother printers, but frequently frustrated at the "not detected" or "not enough ink" messages... just bought a replacement cartridge and was going to swap the chip so I didn't end up wasting a new cartridge, but on closer inspection you can see a tiny battery beneath the chip... So I removed this and replaced it (hoping it would reset the memory) and it seems to have worked! Good luck if you still have the printer.

Lesson is to NEVER buy Brother printer. How dare they tell you what make of cartridge to use. Last time this worked, but this time it hasn't, so i removed them all and then the offending one was recognised but then 2 others were randomly rejected.
Or you could buy your non-genuine cartridges from someone who knows what they're doing. Let me guess there's a big bright yellow sticker on your printer isn't there?
@@TerryJonesPrinterRepairs No yellow sticker. in the past this has worked, but this time no chance. I have a box of non-Brother cartridges and so I will use the new Brother one's chips to make sure that they can all be used, then ditch the thing.

WOW Mr Terry Jones you are a genius. How much do i owe you? You are a diamond
I have 4 "????" showing on the ink volume like yours, but still doesn't print any text or colors, it always shows blank in the paper.
Here is the video that explains your problem. Begin by removing that yellow sticker on your printer th-cam.com/video/kvmPKzuoOMU/w-d-xo.html
Thanks brother!!
It worked nice!!
So, the top window of the cartridge has a small flag. It moves positions when the ink is low. is there a way to keep that flag in the full position???
Is this a trick question? Its easy to keep the flag in the full position -fill it with more ink.

Get the old empty cartridges you pulled out cover the ink window with black electrical tape and see if the cartridge recognises as full
