facts, even if you were to learn a basic mastering technique as a producer, it wouldn't apply in each case because every sound selection is different. An engineer can fine tune melodies based on what they actually need and make the drums hit harder

Of course top producers have engineers to mix their beats, but this tips are gold to build the basis. You can't send an engineer a bunch of senseless sounds. Keep it up fellas ✌
Plot twist: they don't sound better, it's just placements & brand. Anyone kinda could've made Mask Off beat, but it would have been labeled as a normal beat because Metro Boomin didn't make it. At this point any beat a famous producer make it's gonna be labeled as "good", and just in case they sound better that's only due to the mixing. Honestly a lot of them are not that good, I've literally heard beats from famous producers & very famous rappers with off key 808s
Vegas 808 I always had this thought, I felt like any underrated beats I’ve seen on TH-cam, if they had been made by wheezy or southside they would he labeled as fire, but since it’s from a smaller channel with no real exposure and branding it’s considered bad

They are the best at marketing their shit, and making connections. That's the difficult part not a lot of producers can do. There are like a million better producer than tay keith, but you don't see them getting placements, do you?
Anirudh Kumar Being famous nowadays is about doing the right thing at the right place at the right time, wether it’s talented or not, fame is hard let guaranteed anymore and it’s more random than deserves. There are so many talented people barely being able to afford a simple life, and talentless people w mansions and luxurious lifestyles n it’s all a joke tbf. Plus I was on about the producers that are at the top based off skill, not necessarily fame and shit
It’s really no secret. I compare it from indie films to Hollywood major motion films. Hollywood has the resources that an indie filmmaker doesn’t. It’s really that simple... at the end of the day, labels who purchase your work, are going to send it up to engineering to make it sound better...

MikeJrdyn bro what 😂😂 I use to think that but you just need a computer and some good headphones and level your sounds you don’t gotta do all that mixing shit
Sometimes a complex beat is better though, look at The Box with the crazy reverse 808, Kanye's busy ass drums, how Dilla or Premier chops his shit, Kenny Beats' focus on variation etc. I don't like my trap beats without a sprinkler honestly and there's gotta be some sort of master. I personally use Maximus' Tape Limiter, it makes the drums pop more and it sounds clean. It is true that a ton of producers do too much and it doesn't actually make the beat better, but a lot of the time when I add small sound effects it adds to the feel of the track. I made a beat the other day, and I flipped this sample in 2 different ways: Trap and Boom Bap. For the trap, I kept variation in the drum patterns, adding my own little fills and occasionally panning the hihats but overall it was simple. For the boom bap section, I grabbed 2 movie samples, the Thriller laugh, wood burning, a police siren, glass breaking and dogs barking cause I wanted it to sound like chaos. The thing is, I took most of those sounds out when it was time for the artist to do his thing (Me, I'm the artist lmao) and kept the sounds in the intro and outro because it added to the atmosphere, and the thing is, it was mixed well enough to where it didn't sound cluttered or like a mess.
