My first option out of a list of around 12 pistols - is the WALTHER PDP PRO SD with 9mm 18+1, Holosun 508T-RD-X2; and the Streamlight TLR-1HL. I spend several months and many hours on TH-cam listening to what others have to say about performance and reliability. Went to the range and test fired it. All I kept saying was "HOLY SHIT.....WOW" and I was very impressed with my shot group (no not the side of a barn). I say around 25 feet and paper targets. As all the commentators and firearms' enthusiast - The Walther PDP PRO SD pistol (in my opinion) stands out as a pinnacle of modularity and versatility in the world of duty pistols. With an array of features catering to customization and adaptability, this firearm exemplifies innovation in design. I love how it fits in my hands and the esthetics. Here's what I think about it's Performance: The Walther PDP PRO SD pistol delivers on its promise (watch the many videos - yes! on TH-cam) of being a duty-ready firearm. The combination of these features translates into a reliable and user-friendly shooting experience. The modularity not only enhances performance but also accommodates individual shooter preferences. Durability: Walther has a history of producing durable and reliable firearms, and the PDP PRO SD appears to continue this tradition. Quality materials and precision engineering contribute to the pistol's longevity, making it a reliable companion in various duty scenarios. Conclusion: The Walther PDP PRO SD pistol stands as a testament to the brand's commitment to innovation and user-centric design. Its modular features, including the Picatinny rail, optics-ready capability, reversible mag release, and various customization options, make it an excellent choice for those seeking a duty pistol that adapts to their unique needs. Walther has successfully combined versatility with performance, resulting in a firearm that meets the high standards expected of a duty pistol. LASTLY: I say to always check for the latest reviews and user feedback (TH-cam) to ensure you get the latest up-to-date information on any weapon ....you paying for it. Might as well do your homework. - G
I’m a first-time gun buyer and picked one of these up and am so glad I did. It feels so natural in my hand. I haven’t shot it yet but am looking forward to taking it to a range here soon.
I just purchased the Walther PDP Compact and took it to the range a few days ago. First rear sight adjustment is wonderful and and works very well. I was on the bulls eye in a few minutes. No failures at all. I am impressed. I purchased the Compact. I will probably change out the front sight to a night sight. The trigger is the best striker fire trigger I have experienced. CZ hammer fired would be the comparison.
That trigger must really be something special I don’t think I’ve ever seen you that excited about a trigger. Great video as always. Any chance of doing a video on the Arex Rex Delta Gen 2? The M model is very similar to the G19
Retails for $650 most seem to be selling it at $750 or higher. I will buy one when it’s a normal price. Great gun great video just not getting robbed by greedy box retailers. Own the PPQ so looking forward to adding it to my collection but not in a hurry.

I've bought many guns. At many price points. I always end up selling them and returning to my ppq. In the hand and on the range, nothing compares to it. It's nice to see an update to it.
I exclusively run Walthers and just bought one of these, will be comparing to my pps an ppq5 match. Incredible ergonomics, great grips, and always affordable. Walther has the history and quality. Incredible! Underrated firearms for sure
@@FGTRTD24 If you are talking about the P10............that is a completely awesome pistol, but still not quite as good of a trigger as the Walther. I have a couple PPQs but I still want a P10c. Who am I kidding?! I want them ALL! LOL
I just bought the compact with a 5 inch barrel. It is now the best pistol in my collection. I carry the P365, but this is the gun that makes me itch for a range day. I was shooting 3 inch groups at 60 ft right out of the box. That trigger is just so damn crisp. Walther outdid themselves with this one. Can't wait to put a nice optic on it.
My choice came down to Sig P320 X-Compact vs Walther PDP Compact. Ended up going with the PDP...sweet trigger w/ safety, grip texture & ergo, 4” stepped chambered barrel. No regrets. Luv it!!
Have just tried the PDP compact 4" today. Best grip ever, great weight balance. Great stock trigger too. And optic ready. I was gonna go for the Glock 45 but this bad boy made me change my mind !
@@salroth420 While your wife is speaking the truth, gun import tax here is very expensive. The basic model of Colt 45ACP herr is around $1,400. Crazy right? That's because it was aimed to boost local gun industries(which is not improving in price vs long term value). So we are stuck with RIAs which is not bad but we want European and Americans brands at a competitive price too.
Big fan of Walthers efforts in providing great consistency and quality. Glad to watch another great quality review of the great Hickok 45 in this almost free land.
@ 4:50 that target shooting is beautiful with that soda everywhere and you didn't miss a shot . Love you and the videos thanks for the lessons and crazy gun shows
I love the way he dances round the fact its better than a glock, hes never going to say it! the PPQ had the best trigger of any striker fired 9! the first time i shot one my glock 19 was on gun broker !
I forgot this important note. I also recently bought a Beretta APX Centurion. The slide on that gun, is VERY similar to the PDP Compact. I have a Raw Dog Tactical Defender Pro- IWB hybrid holster..an excellent comfortable reasonably priced holster, by the way. I cannot find a holster like that for my PDP compact. Raw Dog said they don't have the mold to make one as of yet. Here's the interesting thing... The slide and trigger guard molding on my APX Centurion holster, are so similar, they are a perfect fit for the PDP! The only issue- is the PDP didn't go far enough into the holster before hitting the bottom of the Kydex. SO- I just ordered a full sized APX holster for my PDP!
Good review as always. However, as with most Walthers I don't feel confident carrying them concealed. The trigger is too light which could lead to a negligent discharge under stress. I know their triggers are smooth, but they next a bit more pressure to be a safer concealed carry gun. Probably fine for a duty pistol though.
I own the Walther PPQ. Now, I want this PDP as well! I've seen other reviews done on this one and it's a Fantastic Weapon according to the reviews. 💯💯👍👍
I’ve seen 100’s of Hickok’s videos and am not sure if I’ve ever seen him hit the gong that rapidly or even the dueling tree that fast. I take it the PDP is “a good shooter”!!
A great review, thorough and balanced. Looking for my first pistol, running through all the usual suspects, the HK VP9 is currently the leader. Trying to avoid confirmation bias, this Walther PDP seems like a very solid contender, I need to get one on the range. The Walther website doesn’t clearly distinguish the various models, have to visit my local shop to review. And the viewer comments are really helpful, owners and regular users of each gun have a lot to offer.
The PPQ is one of the best pistols of the 2000s so far in almost every aspect. The PDP takes that and looks like it makes it better somehow. I love my PPQ but I may have to sample the younger merchandise.
So I had an HK VP-9 , and they are of course known to have great triggers as well. I went and tried out this Walther PDP and they're so close to each other, but I had to admit .... I'd take the Walther. The trigger is even better than a VP9

Just picked this up as my first firearm yesterday. Instantly loved the feel in the hand and shot pretty descent grouping at 15 yards.
I also want one...
Love the aggressive tactical look about it! Especially the serrations on the slide. Good job!.
useful in cold with gloves on
That grip looks like an easy set of furry slippers you'd wear going to get the morning newspaper. Walther always make their receivers like a sports car should drive. Amazing.
Love this channel and all the variety of guns you review. It helps with the purchase 🤗
Always glad to see the female's take an interest in firearms !
Get training and get a concealed carry license ladies !
Agreed, in life these days it's always good to know how to shoot. Learn to shoot, learn self-defense and have faith and you'll do fine🙏

Cracks me up when people buy glocks over a quality pistol like this. Walther is arguably y the best pistol on the market
Got mine when they first came out, been waiting forever for you to get your hands on one. So happy! I needed hickok45 satisfaction before I carry it
I bought a Walther PDP full size 4” slide. Love it. Got 105 rounds through it so far.
I just did 150 today, bought it past Friday, threw a olight valkyrie mini2 on it today
I’m a first-time gun buyer and picked one of these up and am so glad I did. It feels so natural in my hand. I haven’t shot it yet but am looking forward to taking it to a range here soon.
Me too, I decided with the full size 4" , threw a olight valkyrie mini2 on it, and have a streamlight tlr hl1 on the way, it's butter smooth.
If a handgun called “compact” looks big in Hikock45’s hands, it is not compact.
Compact it ain't!!
Hickock is a big guy so his hands are huge.
It's the same size as the G19.
Glock 19 sized for comparison
@@stopthephilosophicalzombie9017 It's thicker than a G19. Saw another gun channel (Sootch?) take a micrometer to them
And it *shouldn't* be 😐
I just purchased the Walther PDP Compact and took it to the range a few days ago.
Once you touch the pdp, you wouldn't wanna touch that delta gen 2.... had one, sold it 2 days later
Retails for $650 most seem to be selling it at $750 or higher. I will buy one when it’s a normal price. Great gun great video just not getting robbed by greedy box retailers. Own the PPQ so looking forward to adding it to my collection but not in a hurry.
Same here!
Rural King's got it for 599
@@danielmcbride4828 if I find it for that price I will buy it just haven’t seen it and I’ve looked.
No Rule King don't have no more I know that Whittaker's country are selling the PVP online for 609 we got two different models I'm not sure which ones which I know one of them's the full size 18 + 1 I didn't look at the other one
I think the increased gun prices and limited ammo availability is the new normal.
I've bought many guns. At many price points. I always end up selling them and returning to my ppq. In the hand and on the range, nothing compares to it. It's nice to see an update to it.
I am right there with you! Bought too many and sold them. I always come back to my ppq. but I'm going to buy one of these and try it out!
did you ever get the Steyr M9?
Always impressed by your shooting skills and accuracy! Love watching your vids.
Holy Cow did you guys get a new camera? Looks amazingly clear, maybe I am just crazy.
Ditto. That intro was next level. Surprised to not see more love in the comments.
I thought I was the only one thinking this. Crystal clear.
I hope they did they’ve made several million off this channel! Love them
Agreed, much more clear
Man....he makes it look like that weapon is part of his body. Incredible!
My favorite channel
Bought myself the Compact and a few extra mags and it's only been a safe queen so far! The Pistol has a phenomenal grip on it!
Man, you seem to have made friends with this Walther really fast.
Thanks to the hickok45, I can see exactly how a given weapon works and how it is used. In my opinion, you make the best gun reviews in the world.
And also what it looks like up close!
Your multitasking skills amaze me (11:30),
talking and reloading. Must be muscle memory!

@@dustoniuspollywogus8105 I stutter on the reload, but talk perfectly..
go figure.
I exclusively run Walthers and just bought one of these, will be comparing to my pps an ppq5 match. Incredible ergonomics, great grips, and always affordable. Walther has the history and quality. Incredible! Underrated firearms for sure
Hard to find a better trigger than a Walther!

CZ
I'm sure he meant in a polymer framed, striker fired pistol, guys
Bowhunt 99 again, CZ
@@FGTRTD24 If you are talking about the P10............that is a completely awesome pistol, but still not quite as good of a trigger as the Walther. I have a couple PPQs but I still want a P10c. Who am I kidding?! I want them ALL! LOL
Just bought one. The smoothest handgun I've ever owned. Smoother than skinboat sailing into tuna town.
Going tomorrow to look for one. Thanks
did you find one??
I just bought the compact with a 5 inch barrel. It is now the best pistol in my collection. I carry the P365, but this is the gun that makes me itch for a range day. I was shooting 3 inch groups at 60 ft right out of the box. That trigger is just so damn crisp. Walther outdid themselves with this one. Can't wait to put a nice optic on it.
This is one of the reasons the PA State police just adopted this and got rid of the sig 227 along with cheaper ammo
How many shot was it?
My local gun shop had 2 of these but they wanted $700 for it! I was tempted but I couldn't do it.
Sportsmans $650 👀
The Philippines would double that price. It sucks here.
@@myownopinion6676 that is a crazy price! My wife is from the Philippines and always talks about how inexpensive everything is there.
Going to be $800 soon!
Now I have to buy another Walther 😭
I agree!
OH YEAH!!!!!!! EVERY (EDC) ccp HAS TO HAVE ONE OF THESE BAD BOYS!!!!
Im picking this one up tomorrow. I just came here to learn more about it
@@neofan99 where did you buy from?

Hickok45, this video was amazing, thank you so much for producing it and best wishes from Australia 🇦🇺👍🇺🇸
Last time I was this early the channel was called Hickok 44
Good one
Ahaha
So funny I forgot to laugh
Never owed a Walther but that is about to change! Can Not wait to pick one up!
Cool! You got one! I've been looking in on these. Pretty badass if you ask me. I really love the serrations
I own for 25 Years only one short gun, a fabulous S&W 686 with a 6 Inch-barell. But this Walther seems to be very exciting. I should buy one.
Just picked one up due to this review. First Walther, really enjoying it so far. Great gun. Thanks again for the great and honest reviews.
@ 4:50 that target shooting is beautiful with that soda everywhere and you didn't miss a shot . Love you and the videos thanks for the lessons and crazy gun shows
Last of the three video's I was waiting to see on this gun...
Hickok is the man! I personally feel like a can trust his reviews and logic.
Thanks
I love the way he dances round the fact its better than a glock, hes never going to say it! the PPQ had the best trigger of any striker fired 9! the first time i shot one my glock 19 was on gun broker !
Handled one recently. She's a thick girl. Some guys like that.
Thick and German yes. I’m waiting on the blonde version.
I love em thick especially my clydesdale!
Anything thinner than a Glock 43 is too thin
@@DJA7943 She may be too thin but does she have good projectiles?
I know I do! Also, I think that Walther borrowed some ideas from the Beretta APX here... especially regarding the packaging & the slide serrations.
Why I subscribed in the first place. Walther PPK, P38, P99, and now this thing.
Bought the full size a couple of months ago, and I have to say...he is not lying about the trigger, it is phenomenal
That dog bowl of gold you sift through lol you are the godfather of gunpowder
Precious metal!
@@antilaw9911 I like that-the GF of GP.
I’ve seen 100’s of Hickok’s videos and am not sure if I’ve ever seen him hit the gong that rapidly or even the dueling tree that fast. I take it the PDP is “a good shooter”!!
One of the best handguns I’ve ever bought.
Then try the pro trigger and you will never want anything else egain
