Public Enemies Trailer - Directed by Michael Mann and starring James Russo, David Wenham, Christian Stolte, Jason Clarke, Johnny Depp. The Feds try to take down notorious American gangsters John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd during a booming crime wave in the 1930s.

This movie is so underrated. Its actually a very good well made film. All of the performances are fantastic, and I just hate how people dislike this for being too slow. Seriously? Its a DRAMA! Its not an action movie. Definitely worth seeing, I recommend it.
The camera panning and editing is so bad. This movie could've been better with a different director. This movie looked so amateur. Poor Johnny Depp

Can you blame people when the trailers are like this? Combine them with Johnny Depp, and I was expecting to see Pirates of The 1920s. If they'd actually represented it as a drama, I would have gone in with the right expectations and probably would have enjoyed it.
As it is the film was a boring slog, waiting for the action to start, which never really happened.

Depp is one of the best actors of our time, capable of playing anything, equally plausible in the image of a vampire killer, and a musician in love dying of cancer, and a crazy owner of a chocolate factory...

Its funny how Dillinger is an out of law man and we're rooting for him the whole movie.
Johnny Depp did a very well done job as John Dillinger. I really liked how they showed the lengths one man would go to achieve wealth and fame. The US government was portrayed very erratic and frightening in this. If you mess with the governments money and humiliate them they'll take you out, no matter who's in their path and how innocent.
A phenomenal film, that leaves you on the edge of your seats, and filled with emotions. I rarely write reviews, but this film truly deserves it, extremely underrated espically with it's cast, dialogue, soundtrack, and storyline. Johnny Depp, and Christan Bale absolutely nailed their roles, and a special mention to Crudup who plays Hoover, and Marion who plays Billie, such an amazing influence, and performance. Although the film never claims to be based on a true story, it truly showed the whole Dilliginer era well, and effective, as expected by Micheal Mann. Amazes me how underrated the film is, truly never gets the credit it deserves. Watch it yourself, well worth it, nothing worth spoiling, espically the end scene. What a film! 27.04.24

I remember seeing this one in the theaters back in 2009 when it came out... The thing was i loved crime movies and my brother and me were living with our single mom but for once we tried visiting our dad seperately to try something new
While my mother had only me one week then she asked if i wanted to see this movie and she said it was a crime drama movie with johnny depp (I was a big Pirates of the caribbean fan aswell) And she assured me that Johnny Depp would never say no to a script he didn't like
This movie has stayed with me ever since and i am so thankful i went to see it in a theater... I bought it on DVD the year after and i still own it :)

Johnny Depp & Christian Bale in the same movie. (Jack Sparrow & Batman) Now that's a great duo! Hahahaha.

Personally, I think this is one of Johnny Depp's best films. Seriously, people who are still hating the fact that Johnny Depp back when he was cast as Gellert Gwindelwald clearly have not seen Public Enemies, Black Mass, Dead Man, Sweeney Todd: the Demon Barber of Fleet Street and the Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (it touches on some SERIOUS issues in that film, despite its quirky vibes).

Between John Dillinger and Neil Macaulay from the movie Heat. Who was better? Both men; handsome, charismatic masterminds who were deeply devoted to their friends. Robbed banks wearing suits, did it with style. Johnny Depp and Robert DE Nero played those roles perfectly. Michael Mann directed both to perfection.

I love Johnny Depp. He's a great actor and seems like a good man. To bad he got mixed up with Amber. I would really love to see him come back one last time as Captain Jack Sparrow. Just so he could end that character the way he wants to. Good luck to you Johnny.

Read somewhere that Dillinger didn't get shot outside the theatre that they got the wrong man and to save public face the F.B.I didn't acknowledge their mistake.

They shot this where I live it was such a big deal for a small city where nothing happens
There wasn't a lot of action in this movie. This is more of a crime thriller instead of an explosion, car crash, shoot-em-up type film.

I liked the movie, but this trailer is way better than the actual movie.
Great movie and all, but after 11 years has no one even noticed the timeline is all messed up? They show Pretty Boy Floyd and Baby Face Nelson getting killed BEFORE Dillinger. Dillinger was killed in July of ‘34, Floyd was killed in October of ‘34, and Nelson was killed in November of ‘34, and when Purvis and Dillinger meet in the movie; Dillinger acknowledges the death of Floyd to Purvis. The least they could’ve have done was research a little bit more because I haven’t been able to thoroughly enjoy the movie knowing Dillinger was one of the first to die. 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
this movie got it so wrong. Baby Face Nelson lived four months longer and survived temporarily a major gun battle along with his wife. Hollywood has so much history they could make movies about but instead keep recreating Batman LOL

I haven't read the book. But this movie is really good if you are not too eager for beautiful shots shot in film. And I don't know the differences between the movie and real life events. But as a movie, it's really up to the mark. Great performances.

WHAT THE F is with the frame rate in this film? People say it's the standard 24 but I swear some scenes are shot at 50 - it looks so bad and it totally ruins the immersion for me - like watching a cheap TV drama

It's from the song 'Blow Wind Blow' by Rairbirds. There are a few versions of the song, though, so get the seven minute version. The riff starts at around 2:30 if I remember correctly.

Cinematography looks really bad , I thing it’s because it was shoot digital.
Old Michael Mann movies are looking beautiful.
I think it looks pretty sharp, but the cinematography is indeed pretty jerky and doesn't suspend my disbelief that much. It was shot on a 2/3" 3CCD camera.
I don't know . To me it looks a bit cheap . But maybe I am just getting old , still can't shake of impression that movies shot on film tape had much better photography (it felt deeper , kind of hard to explain)
