  • Today Briar is coming to PD a couple of cows that my collar data is telling me is probably empty, a couple of them look in calf so Briar is checking to make sure before I send them to the works.

Your dad does AI and should be able to feel the uterine artery at this late stage of pregnancy. Im not sure why the vet didnt talk about that

It was good to see which cows are not springing. We always bumped our cattle and heifers to see if in calf and springing. We always used a bull and wrote the bulling day on calendar.

Hi can you make a calving assistance video with your veterinary assist?

We have 2 Heatwave milk warmers in England.
An excellent job with milk powder, not so good on whole milk though.
The pipes clog frequently when whole milk sits in the warming coils for a few hours.

We use the heatwave to feed our dairy calves. Saves time and less scours in our experience. We fill the machine up with milk twice a day. To insure the milk is always fresh. Calves seem to grow off better and have less health problems we have used the system for 2 seasons now.

We use the Delavel auto feeders over in Western Australia have 5 in a shed with each auto feeder having its own pen of 30 calves and a milk vat in the middle of the shed. The feeders have milk on wide side and next to it has a section for pellets/grain so all feed comes from the same place. Definitely saves on labour.

I have the JFC calf feeder here in Ireland it feeds around 100 calves for me no problem. fantastic for time saving in an already busy time of year. calf health and performance is fantastic. but it is an expensive way of rearing calves, but still I'd never go back to carrying buckets of milk.

Does your app tell you about cow movement? Would that tell you if that cow has been active?
