Hi Andrew i am from nepal (A nepali cow farmer ) We have 30 Holstein and Jessy cow .. And I just want to thank u for what you have done it's inspired and driven me to start my own farming in my country.
In the US here. I bought some Lucas, Quigley and Mohaka the other day from CRV. I have a Jersey/Angus cow bred to Lucas. I've bred my Guernsey to Mohaka, hoping she settled.
Buenas soy de cuba las vacas que usted seca la mantiene en la granja Cuando empiezan los nacimientos. En su país se puede sembrar la Mambosa y el Pasto Estrella es una hierba muy buena para la ganadería aquí en América latina se siembra mucho
You grow as much grass in the winter as we grow in the summer in the UK. We can,t graze in the winter from about Nov to April ish too too wet, this year was even worse. They would be up to their hocks in mud. We don't get a holiday for the Kings birthday in the UK how weird is that! Obviously NZ and Aus think more of the King than we do😂😂
Good videos mate. Hey are you still milking once a day? 540kg on once a day? Do you mind sharing your herd average kgs? Your doing a great job! Why two wheel motor bike? I am thinking of getting a two wheeler as much cheaper and i ride motorcycles off farm anyway. Hope you have a great year ahead. Cheers
No I haven’t, it’s a good dry land crop and does well. But quite expensive to grow, like it need harvesting 3-4 times a year so stick to grass. Maybe if we had a runoff close by I’d give it a go
Think he was spreading Sustain which is Agrotain coated Urea. Other farmers will spread Ammo30 or 36 with or without the agrotain coating. Ammo is combo of Nitrogen and Sulphur. 30% N 14% S and 36% N 9% S
@@TheOnceADayFarmer great thanks for explaining. I learn something new everyday. My cousin farms just to the south west of AKL but it’s arable farming.
You obviously know NO dairy farmers as that's a contradiction in terms. My husband is a dairy farmer (in US) and he works his butt off 24/7 with hardly a day off and vacations are rare.

Awesome, it's a lovely spot up there!

Sound was fine, simple is often better especially on a functional farm you don’t have a lot of time to mess with technology 😂
Hey Andrew love your videos. just wondering what day you will be at the field days?
unfortunately I'm on holiday that week so won't make it
We dry off our cows on Saturday
awesome! hope it went well for you
Strange the only place not to have a holiday on Kings birthday is the UK
haha that is hardcase!

Yep still OAD. Just need more cows like her 😂
Herd did 340ms/cow this year
Just find them easier to get around on, you can ride over fences etc 👍
Andrew, do you ever try lucerne?

Hi. Do you sell bofallo for meat ?
yes
Is it just the season for mastitis cows during dry off? I’ve just treated 15 cows 😣
rip none for me
all depends on quite a few factors, ive had 4 to date now
@@TheOnceADayFarmer damn i haven't had any still start calving in 10 days
What product are you spreading this time of year, we can't spread in ireland after September for approx 4 months

Excuse the ignorance…what’s a solid? A litre ?
Solids is protein + fat
@@usere65 ah ok…how do they work that out from the milk? Sorry I’m not a farmer…can answer questions on flying 🤣
There is a percentage on you milk statement after each milking. Every collecting is recorded. In Ireland we get payed for fat + protein - water
1 milk solid is about 10 litres 👍
For jerseys it can be less as the milk is more creamy and for Holsteins it would be more
@@TheOnceADayFarmer great thanks for explaining. I learn something new everyday. My cousin farms just to the south west of AKL but it’s arable farming.
why dont you breed more of that good cow with embrio transplantation
Cost really, it’s quite expensive. Would be nice though
@@TheOnceADayFarmer Does that mean that its to expensive . so you can not make a profit of it (but if you do it you get a better hert of cows )
Do you use sexed semen on your best cows?
No i dont. I have tried it in the past and it never worked as well so went off it to be honest
Typical lazy dairy farmer, how little can I do🤣🤣🤣
