    I am a complete novice, haven't even plugged a laser in yet (but ordered one to arrive this weekend!) and this sign was the first thing my wife requested (complete with the Bigfoot)...so thanks for the files, going to give me something to impress her with on day 1.

    Steve, loves the file. I have cut it out and starting to get it ready for assembly. I know you use the pens for the detailed work but how do you paint the other parts? Do you spray them?

    • @HoboWithWood
      @HoboWithWood  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do use spray paint for the base coats. But to minimize the monotone look, I use a multicolor textured paint for the mountains. Here is a link to that product. amzn.to/3PYgklb

      Finally got all the materials I need for the sign. Do you use the glaze after assembled or each section before glued together? I love this sign !!@@HoboWithWood

    • @HoboWithWood
      @HoboWithWood  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SHMEDIC9 I do get a slick finish on each indvidual piece and then glue it together. Some argue this waste a lot of product, and it does. You are covering 90% of the area with multiple layers. But I argue with all the nooks from the different layers, you can't get a slick finish once it is glued up. If you are working with the Triple Thick Glaze, I recommmend practicing with some smaller pieces and get familiar with the product. I typically use a first light to medium coat. Sand it smooth and follow with a heavy second coat.

      @@HoboWithWood In case you couldn't tell, this is the first time I have attempted a layered sign. You are the man! thanks .

    I have done some of these and got overly obsessive as to getting the colors right. I went through the federal documents and got it translated to ACE Hardware paint formulas:
    Have signs that would pass inspection. :)
    all satin
    20059 / 7596 brown
    qt b440 neutral
    w1: 0 12 5
    s1: 1 12 7
    r3: 0 22 4
    23695 / 1345 yellow-cream
    qt b433 mid-tone high high
    s1: 0 0 2
    r3: 0 1 1
    y1: 1 0 1
    14260 / 16-5924 TPG green
    qt 440 neutral
    w1: 1 7 4
    b1: 0 7 3
    g1: 0 16 0
    y3: 0 17 0

    I have a question about the large piece: Do you paint the entire thing cream and then, on the bottom half, engrave off the cream around the letters to make it brown?

    • @HoboWithWood
      @HoboWithWood  ปีที่แล้ว

      The main billboard doesn't have any paint on it whatsoever. The only paint is on the layers of the arrowhead.

    • @Chucka1463
      @Chucka1463 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HoboWithWood Ah, so what I thought was cream color was actually the birch wood color?

    • @HoboWithWood
      @HoboWithWood  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Chucka1463 that's correct.

      Even if it is, there are enough variations on my design I'm not worried about it. They have a lot of the same elements in the design. But so do a Ford and a Chevy. They have four wheels, an engine and some doors. Both are cars. But they aren't identical. My variation of this sign is not an identical copy. Do a Google search. Signs like this are selling everywhere.
