I was blown away by the amazing response to my last video on Dry January: 1 Year no Alcohol - Before & After, and I wanted to follow up with encouragement and thanks.
If you are quitting alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, gambling or anything, there are moments when it can be a struggle. You are NOT alone.
When someone offers you a drink, or it's "that" time you usually have a cigarette, you might feel tempted. But with a simple technique, and some simple magic works of using the past tense to describe your addition, you can be strong in those moments.
Addictions are easier than you think to beat.
I used the past tense echnique to quit cigarettes and alcohol as well as other bad habits and I'd like to share it with you.
There is a mindset and some magic words that can help you in quitting alcohol when you're struggling or feel tempted. Simply using the past tense rather than the active verb can help you reframe your mindset when you want to quit alcohol or anything addictive.
In this video, I share a priceless tip that worked for me.
I hope it helps you too.

Thank you for the tip. I‘m going to try using it. I quit alcohol but can‘t quit smoking yet. Now I use the word ‚yet‘, so in a way, I think I can adapt the idea to work with the ‚tenses‘ idea. Because ‚not yet‘ is a time span which will end at a certain point. Thank you Russell, really good advice.
I managed quitting alcohol wirh quit-lit, Holy Whitaker‘s „Quit like a woman“ is a gorgeous book. I wasn‘t a heavy drinker but a ‚regular drinker‘. Almost every night a drink to ‚relax‘, at parties and weekends more. Last autumn I started to get annoyed with this. Sober since 23rd December.
Now I‘m very happy to be on the ‚other side‘.
Take good care everyone, Best regard from Lilith from Germany

For me when I get alcohol cravings I think about for just a moment and not to dwell on,about how I felt when I drank, things like: anxiety, terrible sleep, lack of energy, negative thoughts, Stomach ache all the time, pounding heart, pounding ears, put on weight, irritability, thoughts of suicide, all for a few minute buzz. I decided a while back after bouncing in and out of sobriety to give up all sugar food and drink., so that’s my motto when people ask or I share with people ,,I’ve given up all sugar, food and drink. I am a non-drinker. I am a non-sugar food connoisseur. I eat twice a day.. I am down 10 pounds and I feel like a new man. Even this morning, I had a friend walk by with slices of heavily frosted cake, offering me a piece, and I said no thank you I no longer eat sugar food or Drink.😊, not to be egotistical. This is just the way that I have to stand up for myself..❤️‍🩹
