I was addicted to heroin and fetynol for 8 years and i was addicted to cigarettes for 21 years. Quitting smoking was so much harder. I was a bad addict. It took medication for both. I used methadone for the opiates amd nicotine patches for the cigarettes. It was the only way i could get any meaningful time away from using innorder to even stert seeing any positives from not. Cold turkey aimt for everyone and harm reduction can work. Be compassionate with yourself when need be.
Someday you'll just be living your life life and it will dawn on you that you don't smoke anymore and you dont think about it anymore.

I just watched a different video..
I liked her advice..she said it helped her to change the terms she was using. Example..instead of using the terms "Stop smoking" or "Quiting smoking" which leaves you with a sense of loss..try using a term like
"I'm escaping smoking." I liked this approach. Ive been watching as many videos as I can and "Gleaning" the things that seem the best for me.
Yes its a battle...."but if at first you dont succeed, try, try again." Good luck to all, you are not dealing with this alone..others are dealing with it too.

  • @dariusus9870
    @dariusus9870 ปีที่แล้ว +9

i'm in my 4th day and i feel like my cells thanking me and yelling at me at the same time. I feel as there is another person within me dying to go to the shop and asking for a pack. The simple buying of cigarettes is so appealing to me it hurts. I envision all the steps necessary for the purchasing of a pack of cigarettes. The idea of buying and coming back home to have a smoke (or 5) with coffee seems incredibly attractive. The idea of having smoke in my mouth and going into my lungs seems like "A BREATH OF FRESH AIR". Now THAT'S sabotage...
On the other hand, i know that after the first puff the level of disappointment would go through the roof, there won't be any fresh air but clogged arteries and risk of cancer. There won't be any peace but anxiety. There won't be joy but sadness and a constant reminder of weakness and subjugation. Seeing my beautiful supportive wife, which understands me even if i relapsed 100 times is even more saddening. Waking up coughing like mad and spitting brown goo that could be used as glue isn't a pretty sight at all.
The past weekend i stopped and it was such a peculiar weekend that felt to me like a completely different world. I've stopped before for more than 4 days (i think i went 3 weeks or so) but it was never like this. This weekend i did basically nothing but watch movies with my wife. It was like i was drugged, i felt so happy to just stay near my wife and talk about what we were looking at. Just wanted to share.
My body and my brain are dumb. They crave this poison like mad and i feel that this time it's different. To everyone going remotely through this, i wish you fortitude of mind, reason, logic and power! Luck won't help you.

Feeling constant condemnation has not helped the problem. Thanks again.
I just had a lung x-ray and believe it or not...my lungs look good. I smoked for 48 yrs. My Mom, smoked all through her pregnancy during the 60's and maybe that is the " womb connection" maybe when I smoke, ot makes me feel close to my Mom? Or the womb. Hmmmm interesting realization I just had. My Mom was not very huggy either. Sorry for the novel.

Biggest mistake I ever made, was to quit smoking. I got fat. I gained 140 pounds. I struggled with diets and exercise but I could not stop the weight from coming on. I went from a slim 135 all the way up to a pot belly 275. That's right, I almost made it to 300. My waist went from a 32 to a 50. I got kicked out of the navy for being obese and I lost my retirement. I developed severe sleep apnea and I'm a borderline diabetic. I had to give 5 trash bags stuffed full of my favorite clothes to charity. I had to give up running, water skiing, riding my bike and scuba diving because I got too fat. Had I known I was going to get fat like this, you best believe, I would have never quit smoking. And to top it off, it was a very tough thing for me to do

I just want to point out that nicotine replacement therapy is not quitting, no matter what form you take it in. If you’re still using nicotine you’re an addict, quit cold turkey and endure a few days of discomfort and then enjoy the rest of your life knowing you beat nicotine. You can do this

I've been at this now going on 55 years. I had stopped completely for about 6 months, but temptation is always looming in the background. I have been a smoker now for close to 55 years and it's not getting any easier. The problem is old movies and everyone smoking in the movies. I'm down to about 2 cigarettes a day, but the movies are always telling me one more won't kill me.
I have come to the conclusion that I AM going to die and no amount of not smoking is going to change that. I'd kind of like to be able to dictate the time I'm going to die, but that smacks of the notion of suicide.
I've been the caregiver of three different elderly non-smokers who all died and lived pretty miserable lives beyond 65..
I'm thinking that if I make it to 70 or so I'll have done pretty darn good.

Wow! It's got a pretty good hold on you. Do you have children and grandchildren? I quit a measly 10 days ago I've tried quitting about 5 times before this is my 6th attempt and I'm thinking it will be my last. Dying isn't the issue, the suffering before the death is the problem.

Yeah that’s one of the most common lies we tell ourselves (we want to smoke) from our addiction devil. lol Hoping this video motivates me more!
      Lie 1- “I want/need a cigarette”
      Lie 2- “1 more won’t hurt”
Lie 3- “nicotine helps me calm down”
Lie 4- “Quitting smoking is hard”
      Lie 5- “I can’t quit smoking”
      Lie 6- “I enjoy smoking”
😅 learned how much we lie to ourselves when I read Allen Carrs book- I quit for 6 weeks after reading his book. My husband smokes too and he hadn’t quit, I like to blame him for my relapse 😂 but I know it ain’t his fault 😅

@@emilysloan492 I have my 0.1mg liquid. A drop in the coffee is so satisfying. I wake up in the morning with the bottle clenched in my hand and have a drop after breakfast.😜 I bought the Alan Carr book but it didnt work for me. my brother read it but he became even more of an idiot. I decided i didnt want to stop like that wishing for a smoke and trying to brainwash myself it was not true. Taking it out on other people. I did watch some hypnosis videos but I think this liquid is really helping even tho it is mostly water or maybe coz it is mostly water. i don't know it practically still gives dry mouth and stuff but with some mint juice not so much. i think the 0.1 is definitely better than 0.2. Hard to say coz it could still be from vaping before. I might drop to 0.05 in a while but in theory i am already having very little nic. muscles and nerves ached quite bad and my head feels weird. no wonder it is difficult.

Something tells me that creating a back market for cigarettes is a worse idea...
Which is exactly what would happen when you "outlaw" a world full of people entrenched in years of nicotine addiction from getting their drug.

I feel like i was hooked on like the 3rd cigarette. Sort of blame my mom for smoking while pregnant, i fully believe she gave birth to basically an ex smoker that was already primed for the addiction. Not to throw her under the bus just fyi if your a pregnant woman you may be damning your child to it. Finally ready to quit after 20+years and all the bastard taxes they put on it, nothing has been taxed like it, and its fkd because it truly is the hardest to quit and the government can just rake in money from addicts and the general public actually agrees with that. They dont tax the tobacco manufacturers Just the users.

Im only half way through, but so far hes leaving out a couple legitimate pleasures derived from smoking, not just the nicotine or associations. Look, its not all 100 percent a complete trick, as if theres no actual pleasure, kr any pleasure is just a lie. No, in the moments of smoking, the enjoyment and experience of a cigarette, theres the feeling of the smoke hitting the throat/lings, the swirl of the smoke, the rich taste of the tobacco (if its a well made, quality cigarette), flicking the ashes, etc. These are real things and real enjoyments. Im not in denial that nicotine is what keeps the whole train moving, but non smokers, understand that, at least in my experience, smokers mostly are not having a cigarette and just choking it down in disgust just to get our nicotine. The experience of smoking tobacco, in this case cigarettes, carries with it a multitude of pleasures aside from the nicotine. I would argue the physical sensations and actions of smoking are just as addictive as the nicotine. Its a double whammy. Worth it? Probably not, but even with the addictive factor, there is still the libertarian side of me that wins out. Even a leathal peoduct like cigarettes should remain legal. Lots of people smoke and want/need their cigarettes. If someone is reading this that find cigarettes reprehensible and wants them banned, and maybe even decides to be a karen and say that even me smoking a cigarette outdoors should be banned, just because the smoke may slightly blow in the path of someone walking who could very easily choose to step out of the way for a second or so... Please know that, as far as myself, if im still smoking, its because of the nicotine Plus the equally great experience of the tobacco plant itself. I can only speak for myself, but trust me, most of us arent choking em down just to get a drug. First one of the day with coffee is so delicious, it makes me wish i could take a bite right out of the damn cancer stick.

    Side effects of chantix
    Shortness of breath
    Xerostomia
    Nausea
    Trouble Sleeping
    Abnormal dreams
    Chest pain
    Seizures
    Difficulty concentrating
    Gas
    Headache
    Sleepwalking
    Rash with peeling skin
    Serious skin reactions
    Allergic reactions
    Blurred vision
    Cardiovascular events
    Constipation
    Dizziness
    Depression
    Increased appetite
    Skin rash
    Sweating
    Abdominal pain
    Anxiety
Varenicline is substantially excreted by the kidney, and the risk of toxic reactions to this drug may be greater in patients with impaired renal function.
(This means chantix will harm the kidneys, however if you have renal rfailure it will hurt them more)
the risk of cardiovascular events associated with the use of varenicline is judged to be minimal and clinically insignificant (insignificant to who?)
(Does this mean I should gambel with my life because it says minimal?)
Contact your healthcare professional if you experience new or worsening symptoms of cardiovascular disease while taking Chantix, for example: Shortness of breath or trouble breathing. New or worsening chest pain. New or worse pain in legs when walking.
🤔🤨 Why would anyome want to take something proven to damage vital origins? Why would trust someone who practices everyday because they don't know what they are doing but think they do?
Why would you not trust your creator and wash your body out with herbs and foods which have no negative side effects on the body?
    Today is 7/6/24
My husband was in the hospital about a month ago due to an infection and gave the hospital permission to damage all his vital origins with 2 antibiotics because the dr said it could happen doesn’t mean it will.🤔🤨
Drugs damaged my husband origins, his origing were made worse with drugs said to help.
His kidneys were at 30% when intering the hospital, the antibiotics took them to 11%. We left the hospital now I am helping him 100% natural with food and herbs.
The entire medical system was set up to depopulate the world.
    😡🤬 It is definitely working.
