    Finally got to bottom of its and finally got it fixed. FYI if you ever run into a Kawasaki or probably any other brand ATV or UTV that has limp mode on it. If the neutral switch isn’t working or linkage is out of adjustment or any other reason preventing the neutral light from coming on the machine won’t rev up for over a few seconds or over a couple thousand RPM’s. What happens is if the neutral light isn’t on the ECM thinks the machine is in drive and is looking for a ground speed. If the speedometer doesn’t register any speed it throws it into limp mode and cuts out the signal to the coils killing the spark plugs. That’s what was happening to me, the neutral switch was bad. So the teryx thought it was in drive but wasn’t, so when it wasn’t seeing any speed it was killing the plugs which caused the backfiring and all the other nonsense which really looked like a carb issue.

    I have a 2012 can am utv in limp mode.
    Did drive it a few miles with out having safety net engaged

    Gotta guy selling his Honda 4x4 because he says it’s in “LIMP” mode and he’s tired of messing with it. He says the engine and transmission is strong. However, I’ve heard that before. What will the four wheeler do that I’d know that’s what the issue really is?

      @@michaelwesten1316 limp mode it will usually not go over 5mph and will sputter and won't Rev very high.

    1997 kawasaki prairie runs like shit at half throttle, anyone got any ideas to help? I did the carb air filter spark plug and coil... im at a loss...

    I’ve pulled carbs more times than i can count in last week, checked everything to a tee. I was convinced is was lean or running out of fuel as it throttled up. I put a low psi electric fuel pump on it and nothing changed, put larger pilot jets in no change, put larger mains in, no change, shimmed the needles with 2 shims and no change. Then i started looking elsewhere like vacuum and fire, vacuum seemed fine so got out timing lights. Everything is great till 1/3-1/2 throttle when it goes to shit, at that time I’m loosing fire to both plugs, the rpm slumps off and if i hold the throttle open it backfires bad. This is all sitting still in same spot in neutral. If you hold throttle if usually will backfire and as the rpm drops most times it will start firing again, the rpms will pick back up some and it will do it again.

    Hey man i tryed putting my switch back to on but it seems like its not clicking and goes back to the middle somewhat. Can you tell me what the part is called?

    Honda guy here but got deal on older kawasaki prairie 600 used it for while pumping oil wells beat the shit out of it one day got almost stuck down a steep road with lot of deep snow bout 3 hours of wide open throttle runs to get out there has original belt so now i think i know why its not running worth a shit lol new to belt drive machines hope this fixes it after checking timeing and cleaning the carbs 😂

      Yes any issue with the belt will slap that switch tripping it and putting light on and limp mode activated.

    Great video ihavea brute force300 wasn't moving after kidflipoed it electric don't work as far seeing gages but now runs with battery but iput in high seems ok it soon swithto low seems lose almost all power barely goes ten kmh so seems only best working in high or skip right past gear anyone know what's wrong how fix this I'm not mechanical or much atvknoweldge I moved and alot stuff here is ATVs durtbikes so git this and now this issue ineed help advice from anyone please thnks

    Hey I need some help. My belt light came on like it does every so often. So I opened up the belt cover to check if it was okay and I flipped the switch thinking it would reset the light then I turned it on and the belt light was blinking and I thought it would go off when I started it up but it stayed on and wouldn't go above 10 mph and now it's stuck like this. I tried flipping the switch back to on and still in limp mode.

      Every so often? Your belt light should only come on every 100hours as a maintenance reminder, or when there is an issue. You saying it comes on often is a warning sign you have some other issues going on.

    I have a 08 teryx carb, thought it was a carb issue but have those perfectly clean and synched. Problem is it starts great, idles great and revs to 1/3-1/2 throttle fine and strong then sounds like either floods out or runs out of gas and backfires bad. I’ve been fighting with the fuel system but found out the ignition is cutting out fire to the plugs. Does this sound like limp mode ?

      That does sound like it could be. As long as your main jets are not clogged. Does it have a choke? Have you tried running it past half throttle with the choke on? If it runs with choke on that is a main jet clog. If plug is good then there is another issue with fire. If not then has to be a limp mode issue for whatever reason

      You could have another issue causing that.

      You need to flip the switch and that should reset it also disconnect negative from battery for at least 10 minutes. That should reset everything.

      @Barry Weaver you need to watch my other video on my channel how to reset the belt light on a kawasaki brute force! Its a specific pattern you have to follow exactly. That belt light will come on as a reminder every 100 hours regardless if the belt needs to be replaced it just wants you to inspect it then reset the light. I show that in the video.

      My kawaski 650 vtwin we put a new belt bc it was in limp mode and it took it out of limp mode rode it and left it cool later went to ride it it was back into limp mode idk what's wrong with it idk if it's wiring issue or the switch is bad idk
