Oh my god. My uncle Steve wrote this song, drummer of cold chisel. It gives me so much healing and happiness hearing people making soul moving music with his words. Thank you. Uncle Steve would be looking down on you all thanking you all so much making such a beautiful version of his song. I can't thank you all enough myself. Keep it up, absoloutley amazing!! 🙏🌟

I know I’m late to the party, but this legit brought a tear to my eye.

As a child born of a Vietnam Veteran who fought that bloody war in 1966-67. This song let alone this version really brings it home to the soul and heart.
Years of pain and turmoil growing up with a father who was lost in that jungle and lost in that war.
Even though he physically made it home. He was mentally lost forever.
In fairness Khe Sanh is about veterans struggling with life after the Vietnam War, but this song doesn't have that link. Steve Prestwich (the writer) never once intended the song to be interpreted that way. It's all about going home after years of life's ups and downs and not knowing how you'll cope with being in your original home town. Steve came to Australia from England when he was 17, so the Vietnam thing wasn't on his radar.
Either way mate. It touches a lost and forgotten but also everyday life’s dealings with mental issues caused by a father or uncles service.
The constant reminder and line of “ain’t nobody gonna steal this heart away” rings home.
And when you as the defendant of that soldier or already dead soul.
KIA or not.
Brings it home more than those who have never dealt with it will ever imagine.
Regardless of intention of who wrote it.
We…. Yes we. Those who are here and present and constantly deal with it or push it away.
Will always know this song as a “dealing with the ptsd and stress of the conflict murder and death created and caused during our families member of social embrace”. I hope that makes sense.

They've known each other for half of their lives. Used to play together. Matt said he actually learned some of stylistic vocals from Jarryd.
Surprised he stayed quiet the whole time. Disappointed he didn’t belt at all LOL.

I’ve mentioned this same comment on another ‘like a version’ recently, but it makes me happy when younger bands and artists cover older songs instead of the songs we hear almost every day on JJJ! This is your time to show to country and world what you’re made of, and covering something newer is just boring after waiting by the radio at work every Friday to hear a song I heard them play the day before!...

Crystal Oliver I’m so sick of hearing the same songs played week in week out that are either recent or newer songs or less then two years old when there is an infinite list of awesome music to play and cover and make your own and really show the listeners who wait all week to hear you what you’re made of!

Maybe like 10 years ago Thundamentals did Matt Corbys ‘Brother’ and I will never forget it as long as I live! They owned it and made it theirs! Cher Faker and Nick something doing Sonia Dada’s lover you don’t treat me no good no more! Absolutely killed it! Ocean Alley absolutely killed the late 70’s song ‘Baby Come Back’, absolutely beautiful! I could go on, but you get my point, show us what you’re made of! Show us you’re better then a synthesiser and loop machine and a nine month old song!

I love watching Rockwiz Duets, it’s always great musicians playing awesome songs and more often then not the two singers and opposite team members are so different in their styles that they blow you away with a killer cover!

Check it out, pure beauty and so much emotion, they really mastered the formula to a good music tv show for its time!
