I have a cabinet from my grandfather where I store fat quarters by color. He had a men’s clothing shop, and this cabinet was used for the samples of fabric for suits and shirts! 🧵🪡✂️💕
I watched your video at 7:30 this morning and picked up 8 bins from Target before 8:30. I’ve been folding fat quarters all day and love the result. Previously, they were stacked in canvas bins, and I really didn’t know what I had. Thanks so much for this video. (I’m pretty sure 8 won’t be enough 😊.)
Color, color, color and usually the size of the piece doesn't matter. When I need to put together a project, I pull by colors that I think will work together and it's been working great for me! I did love watching you put colors together for your storage--I, sometimes, struggle with that. Thanks for sharing.
I love the bin idea! I struggle with using fat quarters because they aren’t organized well. Currently, I just sort them by line, since I’ll likely use them that way. But once I use some of the line is put the rest by color.
These containers are great inspiration for me as I'm new to quilting! Have been collecting a sizable 'stash' about 6mo now.. All in clear tubs by color, for now, lol! Tula fabrics are the only designer I keep separate!! Thank you Stephanie, greatly appreciate your channel !!!❤
Currently have my stash organized by color in clear plastic bags. Love your idea of keeping designers together and how you can see all the pretties in the clear bins
I’m fairly new to quilting but realized how quickly I accumulated fabric recently. I have my fat quarters stored for now in cardboard photo boxes I picked up from Hobby Lobby. But defiantly putting these bins on my wish list!
Beautiful collection & I enjoyed watching you fold & organize. I hired a carpenter to build a cabinet with 3 large doors for my collection of Kaffe Fasset fabric BUT I recently discovered Tula Pink. OMG move over Kaffe & make room as Tula is slowly (ok fastly) moving in. I just completed my 1st Tula quilt & now working on 2” hexi’s doing 1st paper piecing using mostly “Bestie, Linework & polka dots). I just received the Tula Nova pattern & paper pieces & already have all the fabric in my stash. SEW much fun! 🥰
I keep some collections (such as Tula, Tilda, Kaffe) together in their bundles on a shelf. Other fabrics I mix and organize by color in bins and baskets. Your Tula collection looks so pretty in the clear bins; I think I will try that!
I went out and bought the containers and my stash looks so much better. I folded everything that was 1/2 yard to a fat quarter. Now I need more containers for my other collections.
I just started quilting & collecting Tula fabrics. This video was most inspiring! I’m heading to the craft room now to refold and organize my newly acquired stash. ❤
This was so much fun to watch. Some of your Tula comments sound just like my daughter who also has what she calls a ridiculous amount of Tula fabrics. I bought some of those tall project type compartments from JoAnns years ago for my fat quarters and have them organized by color mostly, but the batiks get their own storage separately. I guess batiks are like my Tula. I love these containers you have and can see myself trying them out. Thanks.
Wow.. so beautiful! Lots of Tula here also! I use plastic boxes from container store in various sizes to store precuts and fat quarter and yardage of collections. Also have a shallow drawer. I think I am going to refold all my pieces in the drawer like you showed in this video!!!
I store my fat quarters in their bundles just on my book shelf. I usually leave them in their bundles until I use them then they get moved to scrap bins. Great video, I wish I was that organized!
I have stored my FQ’s in the plastic Y weave bins in color order based on your video some time ago. After seeing this I may have to try a few of these!
Love to watch you organize. This is a great strategy for all of us visual creators! And as you rightly say - just seeing the fabrics makes you happy. This collection displays beautifully. I’ve been in the process of combining two stashes. Going through the fabric organization step periodically is helping me whittle down and also make decisions about the fabrics so they get used, sold or donated. It is fun to go through them! Aside from projects in progress (and this is a loose definition), the fabrics are in two sets of translucent covered bins, sorted by color. There is a set for fat quarters and half yards and another set for yards and up. Anything smaller, post-project gets cut into a few standard strips or block sizes and miscellaneous small bits are roughly grouped by color and theme for other potential crafting into small plastic bags. Probably the biggest difference in organizing style is that I minimize folds in the fabric. The broader sized containers allow most fat quarter to have just one fold. That said, I do have a dedicated Tula bin. :)
I purchased an over the door, side-loading shoe rack. I put fat quarters by color on one side and 1/2 yds on the other. With the leftover spaces at the bottom, I put panels. It hangs inside my closet door. I also bought a cart with 10 plastic colorful drawers. I put scraps in the drawers basically matching the drawer color. Ex. Pink in a red drawer, red in a red drawer, yellow in a yellow drawer, orange in a yellow drawer. There are 2 of each color drawer.
I am now going to go online to Target! This will look so cool done! I just got done putting my fabric on Comic boards and it looks so nice, so these containers will really display things nicely!
My stash is in Ikea Nordli drawer units, perfect height drawers for the Konmari folds. Some are in the "woven" baskets from Target. All are sorted by color, but not as consciously as you have done, as they aren't by collection. This was a fun video!
I sort all my fabric by color unless it is in a project box. My fat quarters are stored in the y-weave baskets you showed us long ago. I use the bigger 13" baskets for my 1 and 2 yard pieces. This was fun to watch you "play" with your fabric.
Very fun organising! I store by colour order as well. I used to separate by designer now just put all same colours together. I can easily know which designer is which. I have them in a drawer unit at the moment. In my previous converted garage my 6 metre long floor to ceiling storage wall had cubicles with the yardage folded with towers of fat quarters in front of them. It was glorious to slide the doors open and behold the fabric!!!!!!! I would love to see the different Tula projects that you have on the go xxxxxxx
Relatively new with building a stash. Most are still together by FQ bundle. I have been using gallon ziplock bags and then storing in a large tote. Working for now. With much more, I will need something different like these you shared with us.
My FQ are organized in the Target woven baskets, but I have been considering switching to these clear bins for a while now. I haven’t made the switch because I’d have to buy so many new bins! I may start slowly buying a few every time I see them in stock at Target and slowly make the change because yours look so lovely and inspiring!
I actually use these bins for cross stitch DMC by order number love how organized and easy to get the DMC I’m looking for. I store my fat quarters in an IKEA drawer system by color and each bin holds the fabrics by size. When I want to quilt something I “shop” by fabric size and color so both systems (size/color) work for me. Your bins look fabulous ❤
I love having FQ ironed & ready to use at a moment's notice so I have them hanging on a clothes drying rack. OK, and some on the back of a chair (OK, it's 3 chairs but whatever.) Love your organization videos, so inspiring!
Hi, I love the way you organize. I do not have so many fatquarters but I organize by color. All the smaller bits I store in sethrough plastic bins. I am sorry we do not have a shop lik target in Austria. So I buy wherever I see nice bins. Thank you for showing us your way of organizing!
Now you can work on my Tula.😂 I think I have twice as much. Lately I have been thinking about mixing up what I have, instead of making a quilt with just one collection. I have all my half yards and fqs in Art Bins and drawers to keep out the dust.
I’ve been using these same bins for a little while now - they work great for FQs! (Also … the organizing parts strung together on 2x speed would make for some fabulous visual ASMR 😂)
I have a bin of fat quarter shame that is overflowing. The target bins are a great idea. I don't have a Target in my town but the next time I go to the city to shop I will check it out. Your stash looks great!
I'm definitely a "by color" storage person...I don't usually go by designer because if I like/love a fabric it doesn't matter to me if I mix it with a different designer. These bins look awesome. Great idea
Your organizing came out gorgeous. 🤗 I organize by color and category. So all Australian fabric together by color. The same with Batiks, Flannels, Plaids, Christmas, Halloween, Oriental, Novelty, etc. etc. Then regular fabric by color.
I’m very new at quilting and have a very small stash. I recently made fabric baskets and not liking them very much. Looks like I will be getting these bins from Target. 😊
I am so jealous! I love Tula Pink! I have a stash of Tula fat quarters that I keep together in a wire basket. I love this idea though and will probably get these so I have them on display. Thanks for a great idea. Pick me pick me! 🙋♀️
I keep mine by collection in the original packaging until I’m ready to use them but I love the look of these boxes! I’m pretty sure I have a visit to Target in my near future! 😊
I use the Sterilite 12 quart clear plastic containers. (There are also taller ones that I use for whites and creams) There's room for 2 rows of fat quarters or half yards. I do have them organized by color, but not quite as well as yours!
I have clear bins (from Target, but different from these). I store them by designer (for my favorite designers) and by size ( backings, backgrounds, etc), by solids, precuts, and Christmas. I also have one bin of just fat quarters that don't fit into any of the above categories.
My Tula collection is folded in bins I have half yards and up of her most current lines (3 years or newer I am a newer quilter) I do organize my Lori Holt (I know completely opposite end of the spectrum) in a shoe organizer.
I use the other bins from Target that you showed previously. I do color order but I have subcategories, like solids, Tula, Alison, Heather, and then everyone else.
I’m a bit behind on the organizing game, I work for an industrial supply company and I use some of the small boxes I get from work. They’re perfect for fitting scraps in but I have to accurately label everything so I know what’s all in there!
I purchased 4 Husky metal cabinets from Home Depot that are 4 feet wide by 6 feet high and 2 feet deep. They line one wall of my garage and contain my fabric organized by designer or color
My Stash is organized in a drawer under my bed in a plastic container specifically for under the bed. 🛏️I organize by color. It’s dust proof, no light to fade them, easy access pull out drawer and holds plenty! I’m a fabric snob!😆
I'm afraid I am not this organized! Quilting is just one of my craft hobbies and much of my fabric including my fat quarters is stored in the big bins that are not see-through, so I love this idea. I have another pile stored in one of those square, zipped bags that mattress covers come in. It has canvas walls and a plastic front so I can see things in there...
It's so funny that you did this video...I just saw someone on Instagram using the same bins! I plan on buying some next week! Currently I have some narrow plastic bins I found inHome Goods...they have a woven pattern & I have outgrown them! :)
I have a DVD shelf where I keep most of my FQ's folded in the traditional way. I may have to check out our local Target to see if you left any bins (IA QC) Ha! Thanks for sharing.
Right now I don’t have a huge FQ stash but I keep them and my other fabric in cube shelving. Some cubes have a 4-square divider and I have long soft bins that “sort of fit” the FQs in them. It’s not ideal lol.
Most of my fat quarters are folded and stored in my Elfa shelves. My Tula is stored on comic boards on a shelf so I can view them every time I’m in my sewing room.
I keep my Tula Pink separate from my other fabrics. (I have a lot.) I mix my fat quarters in with my half-yards and yards. I label each fabric with its color number from my 24-color color tool. I have also separated my fabrics into wildflower, mineral, hexys, tiny dots, tiny stripes, and pom poms and tent stripes and put each section in color order. I have my prints in a different stack according to collection. I keep my fabrics in fairly large Sterlite stackable containers. When I’m not actively using the fabrics, I keep the stacks of containers covered with old sheets to protect the fabric from light.
I definitely ran out and bought these for my FQ's, but I also got the large stackable Brightroom containers with the handles for my large collections. I organize certain designers by designer; Tilda, Tula Pink, Heather Ross, Anna Maria Horner, Sally Kelly, Alison Glass, all by designer, by collection, by color. Everything else is just by color. Question! How do you identify your solids? Do you write the name in the selvedge? I just started as I need specific colors for specific patterns, and it's hard to compare with what's on a screen swatch. I just made a Ruby + Bee swatchbook because the Windham one online is not accurate for real life. This was fun to watch, thank you for sharing! 🌈
Right now my stash is in desperate need of being organized. It’s just being kept in random boxes inside too deep cupboards that make seeing and using difficult. I love the clear idea and the stackable factor of these bins. So beautiful when full. And of course, that’s partly why we buy fabric, right?
I have already ordered six of the containers for pick up tomorrow. I have my fat quarters in baskets. By color. But I have been frustrated because I have to pull the baskets out to see the fabric. This is so much better plus they stack. Thanks for the tips
I like your way better than mine - but I pack mine into those plastic shoe containers. They each have lids, so the fabric doesn’t get dusty, but the boxes are opaque, so you cannot see the colors well. So on the end of each box, I have the color and/or type of fabric on the box.
i have my fat quarters in dresser drawers that i have painted in a lime green with chalkboard paint to label what is in the drawer my tula is all kept by collection in a drawer that is dedicated solely to her
I organise my fabrics by colour, but not as carefully as you! I just have a stack for each colour family, and within that the individual fabrics aren't organised at all 🙂 (I actually just posted a video recently that shows my fabric stash: th-cam.com/video/w8zmaaclzsU/w-d-xo.html)
I was obsessed with Tula but quickly realized how her fabrics don’t live up to the hype. The fabric designs should fit nicely between the WOF SELVAGES Instead, a lot of her designs are cut in half at the selvage. She should plan her designs to fit within the selvages. Also, the fabric could be a better quality. She should also have solid colors that actually match, like the exact same color as the designs. And lastly, please make the lines cohesive. There’s usually a couple odd pieces that don’t match. In ZUMA we had the ugly shells that look like a generic seamless file that no one really wants. In curiouser and curiouser we have the cats that don’t blend in as well as ugly lady bugs in tiny beasts that don’t blend well and in daydreamer we have the strange little pieces of fruits that don’t match the rest of the graphics. They all look similar in their graphics and none of them match the rest of the one but everyone buys them to have a complete set. Well, I am not doing it anymore. Ugly fabrics be Gone! Lol. She should up the quality on the things I mentioned for the amount of money we spend.
I have a cabinet from my grandfather where I store fat quarters by color. He had a men’s clothing shop, and this cabinet was used for the samples of fabric for suits and shirts! 🧵🪡✂️💕
Weirdly satisfying to watch you fold these! So.pretty.
I bundle them in sets and tie them with a selvage and display the on a homemade shelf made from crates! Love Tula’s whimsical designs!

I don't have a target near by but I just love how this looks. I try to organise by color.

I just got done watching your video and immediately ordered 6 of those bins for my not yet organized fat quarters and fat eighths.
Congratulations! You are our winner! Please email help@quiltaddictsanonymous.com with your address so we can ship your Tula Pink fabrics for you!
I didn’t realize how much I love Tula Pink fabric. I just put together my new space and now I aspire to be so organized. Thank you Stephanie. 😊

I organize fat quarters by color and collection. Loved seeing this, Walmart had the perfect clear bins for a while
I have stored my FQ’s in the plastic Y weave bins in color order based on your video some time ago. After seeing this I may have to try a few of these!
Such beautiful fabrics!! I store my fat quarters by color in clear bins very similar to those.
Love to watch you organize. This is a great strategy for all of us visual creators! And as you rightly say - just seeing the fabrics makes you happy. This collection displays beautifully.

Very pretty and organized
Konmari’d my stash using the previous bins. Excited to switch to these clear, stackable bins. Thanks for the refresh 23:18

Here I am leaning forward and saying, no no, not there, yes, that's perfect like I have some skin in the game. That was fun. Thank you.

I use a narrow white faux woven basket from Target. I do love the clear look!
I love having FQ ironed & ready to use at a moment's notice so I have them hanging on a clothes drying rack. OK, and some on the back of a chair (OK, it's 3 chairs but whatever.) Love your organization videos, so inspiring!
I have some bins I got at a thrift store that are used for fabric. Your rainbow is so pretty
New subbie! Been needing and idea, Perfect! OMG, Target here I come!! Lisa
I have been wrapping my FQs around comic book boards. I like having them compact as I do not have a large space to sew in.
Hi, I love the way you organize. I do not have so many fatquarters but I organize by color. All the smaller bits I store in sethrough plastic bins. I am sorry we do not have a shop lik target in Austria. So I buy wherever I see nice bins. Thank you for showing us your way of organizing!

I’d rather keep them by collection.that’s the way I do it. And I use Art bins cases.
I love fat quarters :) I use the 6 drawer roly carts and do the ROYGBIV also.
LOVE ALL THINGS TULA!! I don't have enough fabric to figure out storage just yet. I'm working on it.
I have a bin of fat quarter shame that is overflowing. The target bins are a great idea. I don't have a Target in my town but the next time I go to the city to shop I will check it out. Your stash looks great!

Me, too,Janey 20:09
Your organizing came out gorgeous. 🤗
I organize by color and category.

Love your color skills. I have yard cuts so would need bigger containers. I use the big deep artbins brand for them
I leave my collections tied up as they come but the various ones that I bought individually I sort by color in clear bins, kinda like you do.
Im just now starting to build my stash but they are folded much like yours are so i can see the end 😊
I use the other bins from Target that you showed previously. I do color order but I have subcategories, like solids, Tula, Alison, Heather, and then everyone else.
And I thought I was the only hoarder of Tula’s fabrics 😂 only problem if I used this method my husband would be able to know my real fabric number😊
😂 we gotta keep that information to ourselves, don’t we? 😂
I’m a bit behind on the organizing game, I work for an industrial supply company and I use some of the small boxes I get from work. They’re perfect for fitting scraps in but I have to accurately label everything so I know what’s all in there!
I have mine in a brown storage, I need to run to get these 🏃♀
I purchased 4 Husky metal cabinets from Home Depot that are 4 feet wide by 6 feet high and 2 feet deep. They line one wall of my garage and contain my fabric organized by designer or color

I have some fat quarters bundles that are still together. I haven't decided how to organize them yet. I love your boxes.
I have a DVD shelf where I keep most of my FQ's folded in the traditional way. I may have to check out our local Target to see if you left any bins (IA QC) Ha! Thanks for sharing.

Currently using clear shoe bins with lids, but have just stored by collection, not color... may have to change that! :)
I like your way better than mine - but I pack mine into those plastic shoe containers. They each have lids, so the fabric doesn’t get dusty, but the boxes are opaque, so you cannot see the colors well. So on the end of each box, I have the color and/or type of fabric on the box.
If I have a enough, by designer, but mostly by style (prints/batiks/solids) then color
Where did you get the clear plastic containers? And what are the dimensions? Stephanie, you are so great at sort colors!!! 🌺
They're from Target!
Can you get these containers some where else? I don’t shop at Target.
My stash is still rather small so currently just have them in a 4 drawer rubber storage unit
I keep buying bigger and bigger binds to keep my tula pink fabric in because I can't stop buying more.
I like the bin organization, but truly don't like to have more creases to press out of the fabric before i use them
Organize by color in drawers.
i have my fat quarters in dresser drawers that i have painted in a lime green with chalkboard paint to label what is in the drawer my tula is all kept by collection in a drawer that is dedicated solely to her
What size are these bins?
I keep mine in basket
I don't have an organization system. I don't have a stash just yet.
Mine are not organized at all!!😂😂
I store my fat quarters by manufacturer, the colors seem to work together based on the designer
