  • Is Kristaps Porzingis the missing piece the Celtics need to win the NBA title? The Latvian big man is having the most efficient season in his 9-year career and in this video, BasketNews’ Augustas Suliauskas analyzes how exactly Kristaps have done it: how maturity has helped to perform better, why he unlocks another level in Boston’s offense & an extremely interesting tactic Joe Mazzulla deploys to improve Boston’s defense with him on court.

    Preach. He is like a fine wine, coming into his full maturity at this time. At the *perfect* time, from the Celtics perspective. I think you are absolutely correct about Tatum and Brown, and I believe KP's presence is proving to be a positive, and maturing, influence on _them._ Over time, I'm hoping we see them gradually release the self-imposed pressure they're feeling to do it all, be the hero or team alpha. Learning how to share leadership with other strong leaders is an empowering -- and potent -- skill.

      @starvvoy 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      ironically i feel like tatum needs to learn how and WHEN to THE guy. no matter what, he is the guy and he is by far the best celtic by a mile. there’s games we need him to settle down, take the game in his hands and finish it. or will his team back into the game. he struggles knowing when it’s cool to do that and when he’s being too passive

    • @jimreadey4837
      @jimreadey4837 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@starvvoy I think that's a bit hyperbolic... not "by a mile." He can get his own shot any time he wants, so maybe he's the best one-on-one player, by far. But he's not the best passer, and he's turning the ball over at an all time high, this year.
      He's surrounded by _several_ NBA All Star-caliber players. Learning how to share leadership with other strong leaders is an empowering -- and potent -- skill that he's still working on.

      Kp was always a perfect fit , he played on non competitive teams ( Knicks , wizards) and had something good in Dallas but each time he played he had one common problem .. 7 footers will always have shorter seasons. Dont get your hopes up as good as Boston is, Kp is not your answer.

    I got to see KP at the garden the other day and I love this guy. He’s got a good attitude, seems like he gets along great with everyone, and he is just performing amazingly well for the Celtics. I really hated seeing smart go, but I know it’s for the better of the franchise. It seems like the fans here also love this guy too. Super good addition.

      Smart was overrated as hell. The man always played like he was the East Coast version of Steph Curry which pissed me off cause the man missed way more threes than he ever made but those one or two clutch threes made him feel as if he was 14 for 16 from the field smfh

    This trade had a flavor of an old-school Red Auerbach type of move. Underrated and undervalued, and when added to the right team, he's instantly a massively impactful player. And while I was a Smart and Timelord fan, both had major liabilities. Holiday and KP are major upgrades in both areas.

    KP has been better than advertised. We all know about his offensive capabilities. But his defense is what really surprised me thus far. He is great on the defensive side of the ball. He is 7' 4 with long arms and he is surprisingly strong. He has been one of the better defensive centers in the league with his blocks and limiting the drive to the hole from the opposing team. I am so glad he is on the C's. Health withstanding, the Celtics are the favorites to win the chip.

  • @brentduanefoster
    @brentduanefoster 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I kinda have an counter-argument about the "maturity" of KP, unless we're talking about how he approaches the game. Even then, there wasn't much that he wasn't willing to do on the floor.
    Part of that was POOR COACHING!!! Especially in Dallas. Neither Carlisle nor J. Kidd utilized KP at his full capacity, but rather, was content with simply using him as a perimeter decoy while Luka was the primary and dominant ball carrier. Knowing what he's capable of doing, it's understandable why he might have been frustrated and tried to force some things.
    Being traded to Washington was a blessing for him because he was able to play HIS game, and there was a team to who welcomed it. We see that in Boston now.
    Secondly, I'm kinda over the whole "if he can stay healthy narrative", as if he's the only player that has dealt with injury stints. From what I've seen, he's gotten past that, especially since, and this is gonna fly in the face of the belief that bigs have to be bigger and muscular, he actually LOST muscle, because, by his own admission, it was affecting his playing style.
    He's always been a great player and was never not a team player. Just wasn't in the right situations until now.
