      @@redwings0142 He did have his best year personally but he could tell his team was going nowhere. But the Celts, with him, are clearly one of the top 2 or 3 teams in the league. No one can guarantee a ring this early in the season. But he's playing like a guy who really believes he has a chance to finally win. I'm a Celts fan and watch all the games, and it's rare to see him not smiling when he's on the sidelines. This is a happy player right now. Enjoyed much of your analysis. Having watched KP play since joining the NBA, I have to disagree with your analysis of his earlier years. He was an Allstar in his second year in the NBA, a beast! Had no glaring limitations in any aspect of his game. Was slated to be be NYs next franchise player before the injury. He joined Dallas and was still recovering from his ACL tear....missed time as expected. His stats in Dallas were still around 20 ppg, 8 reb, a steal and 1 1/2 blocks that's good production despite the circumstances surrounding the team. . As a matter of fact the year he left Dallas, his PPA ( NBAs score for productivity/efficiency) was 172.....130 and above is regarded as very good. The problem in Dallas, he was not used correctly by his coach and had to deal with Doncic's ball dominance. KP is doing well in Boston and not because he is more comfortable as 3rd option. Let's not depreciate his unselfish play by suggesting that he is some kind of a talented role player...he is first and foremost a Team Player! And very capable of being option 1 and 2. I wish him and the Celts much success!

      He was not misused. I watched his every game in Dallas, they were giving him the ball on low post but KP was soft asf back then, he even can't backed down a Guard so that's why they stop doin it for him. instead of using his size to force paint shots, he just shooting over his small defenders in low post, and not making those shots.

      @KB-qk1ic 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@JohnDoe-uy9mz he was given fewer looks than hardaway Jr. In the playoffs he was like the 6th option. You can't expect a player to be a spot up shooter so year for 2 seasons then change their game and wonder why it's not working.
      It also doesn't help when you give up the ball because you've been figured out or stopped and not in a teammates spot.

  • @Ironfangzu
    @Ironfangzu 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +15

    The simple fact is that the Celts starting 5 has 5 guys who are excellent scorers. Tatum and Brown both demand double teaming if you want to even slow them down. Jrue Holiday may be the most physical guard in the league, able to slice through defenses with powerful drives, and can stand his ground against anyone on defense. White is quick, talented, and the kind of player who will just focus on defense and give you 14 points a night if asked to, but can step up and easily score 20-30 without apparent effort. Tatum, Brown, White and Holiday can all drive, post up, shoot from anywhere behind the 3 point arc, and pass. On a team like this, Porzingas is often the third or even fourth option. Defenses can't double team him, and sometimes even leave him alone to try to stop a driving Tatum or Brown. This is not nearly enough to stop someone at his talent level. He's having a field day in Boston, and clearly happy to find himself on this team.

    The biggest flaw we’ve had for years is interior offense. We’ve always had the defense there, and our perimeter offense was the best in the league when it was going. But when it hasn’t, the team has struggled to win. KP solves that, if the team score from outside, give it to KP inside to keep us in games. That’s what the Mavericks failed to do, they only saw him as a floor spacing big when he was so much more than that
    Forgot to also mention, Porzingis has always been a top 2 option on a team, forcing more usage out of him and leaving his body more open to injury. But as a third option, he isn’t putting as much pressure on himself every night

    The C's were in a back and forth with under 2 mins left against Toronto yesterday for the NBA tournament and if im not mistaken 3 of the last 4 shots the ball was in his hands in the post. He made every one of them backing down his defender which is even more impressive when you know how big and physical Toronto is. He's already a trusted ball handler in clutch moments and man he's coming through and I'd be lying if I said I didn't absolutely love the fact he's killing it. Amongst all that star power he's showing he belongs. Hell yeah KP. My ONLY complaint about him is his rebounding. At that size you shouldn't have 3 rebound games lol

      @Ironfangzu 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      Rebounding is all about effort and desire, yes, but also about size, strength and instinct. If you look at KP, he's no longer a skinny beanpole, but he's still not strongly built. If you've played ball yourself, you know that when you're next to a really strong guy, when the ball comes off the rim, oftentimes you will find yourself moved off your spot, even though the other guy never pushed you or anything. In the NBA, that happens too. You can go watch Joker, and he NEVER gets moved off his spot. He just goes to where he wants to go, and he's planted there like a tree. Then he tippy toes or hops 4 inches, and he's grabbing his 14th rebound. KP is tall, but he doesn't have that. Just be glad that he can hit the 3, block shots from driving guards, hit the 3 foot turnaround, and has the vision to find his cutting Celts teammates. I love what he is doing.

    So back when KP was drafted by the Knicks I had a friend that was a fan of the knicks but didn’t really like him as their choice. I didn’t really know how well he played or didn’t play bc I’m a Celtics fan. But I was doing an expansion team on 2k that year and I was like fuck it lemme see what he’s like. I also enjoy playing C in 2k, don’t have to worry abt all that dribbling and shit, I can sit back on d and protect the rim, and on offense preferably I’d like to catch n shoot 3s(my 2k builds for centers are usually always 2-way stretch 5). I’ll tell you what, KP became a lowkey favorite player of mine very quickly. So one day me and dude were talking about Bos/NYK and I told him I would eat his lunch with his own Knicks bc of KP. He picked some cheesy team I forgot who it was, but I proceeded to absolutely demoralize this guy with his own team and I remember saying “I was he was in Boston”. All these years later I still liked him and respected his game, but he was so injury prone we never really got to see him flourish. ON TOP of that, seeing that we traded our longest tenured Celtic at the time, in Smart, I hated the trade at first but after a few days the hate turned into this mix of emotions between happy we got KP, upset we lost smart(along w others), and uneasy about how he would play for us. He seems bought in, on both sides of the ball. He’s looking how I looked playing as him in the game I stg. I did have way more blocks but you know 2k. I love the trade now, still miss smart, will always love that man. We have a starting 5 in which you HAVE to guard all 5 positions, and to compliment that, we have another 4 off the bench that have been striking it from 3 as well. Seems like everybody on that roster will AT LEAST play “get up in you” defense on a consistent basis. We’re 11-2 right now, we just beat the Grizzlies of all teams. Smart didn’t play. But I hope to one day in early-mid June, come back to this comment, and probably cry bc we just won #18. ☘️☘️☘️ Go Cs baby!!

    Great content and narrative! I'm really loving watching this mature version of Porzingis on the Celtics, and you've done a wonderful job illustrating the asset he has become.
    If you would be so kind, though, please tell me why you sporadically pronounce *the* and *a* as "thee" and "aye".... It sounds strange to my ears, and I never hear anyone use these pronunciations in everyday conversation -- let alone any respectable sports commentator. (It seems like an emphasis of each noun that follows -- kind of akin to someone TYPING IN ALL CAPS.)

    They brought KP in because they knew they would have to challenge at least ONE elite big man, Giannis, Joel, Nikola- in the ECF or the Finals, and they're not gonna be shorthanded without him
    High KEY though, boston does need more forward depth off the bench defensively - that's their one weakness, they have a short-ass rotation. I think they still have their Mid level exception - so maybe bringing in a solid role player at the deadline to bolster the bench would seal the deal

    its nice to see KP be talked about in a positive light but i did not get the impression that you have followed him all that close, which is fine because theres only one of you and theres 450 players in the nba. that being said, you can listen to jj redick talk about what was going on in dallas or you can go back and watch the games for yourself, theres more to the story than looking at the numbers, as is usually the case. KP has always had a great maturity when it comes to what happens on the floor of basketball, all his coaches sans possibly carlisle will confirm this; it's not a new development or new skill he just developed this off-season. very good video for people who arent superfans of KP, haha! keep it up

I see him constantly take shots where a normal person would be considered completely covered but dudes so lanky he takes the shot with ease, like there wasnt a guy right in his face. Is there one specific game that just stuck in your head because they lost and you think he shouldve taken 1 very specific shot? lol This guy almost instantly starts shooting before the pass even gets to him and I love it because it almost feels like he never misses.

Tatum is the best player in Boston, but as a second guy I will 100% pick KP. Despite of JB more points, JB plays without creativity and made a lot unnecessary shots. Kristaps in same time play more on team. Great video.
