At first I was unhappy that Mark shirked his obligation to remove all the garments, but now I'm over the moon that Alex gained so many additional treasures. This has been an exciting journey. I hope Alex is able to take some R&R soon.
Those Dianne Von Furstenberg wrap dresses were everything back in the 70’s. Every company copied them - the originals should be worth good money. Bravo to you! The jewelry is lovely too. 👍😊🇨🇦 Mark is going to be kicking himself over not bothering with that secret room! 😉
DVF wrap dresses are still perfect to have. Nothing flatters every woman's figure better and can go to the office and then to dinner better either. Great treasure.
Mark paid at least ten thousand for the clothes according to Alex so I bet he could care less about the finds in the secret attic room.. He could probably make three or four times that amount if not more in what he did get..he was sick of moving the clothes.. LOL
@@marywalker2896 A few jackets and purses alone will make Mark back the 10K and that would be just a tiny fraction of what he got. If he can sell those near mint fur coats to the Asian market he will easily make 100K+ and then there's still literally tons of vintage dresses, purses and shoes.
He's set for life. He's poised to make many times over on his investment. Madame was a pack rat that stored things carefully in boxes, bags. The items were in great shape, very rare finds.
DON'T PUT THE CLOTHES IN A WASHING MACHINE!!!- sorry for the capital letters, but old vintage clothing will be ruined if they are put in a washing machine. Never use a iron only a steamer and no ordinary detergent. There are a lot of videos here on youtube on how to clean old vintage clothing. A very big thanks to you for all your great videos - and a happy new year to all :)
Some of them can be laundered on delicate but I would be very careful drying them. Maybe a few minutes in the dryer to take the wrinkles out then hung to finish drying.
@Stella Marie Poetry and Green Arts Probably not since that could end up costing more than the clothes are worth. Trying a few of those on delicate would be prudent before investing too much in specialty care.
The first DVF dress label you showed with the green flowers is older and more valuable that the black and white one. There was an umlaut on the u of Furstenberg in the first collections. The umlaut was dropped in the mid 70s. So the label on the black and white dress is a mid to late 70s dress, but the green flowers dress will be 60s/early 70s. Bear that in mind while sorting through them
@@Christina-hj4hh I know it as vowel mutation, but as a german I was wondering if you can say umlaut in english too. I just asked google and it says, that you can use umlaut in english. So funny, I've never thought about it before.

Seeing the house clearing out is so wonderful. When first in series went up, I was overwhelmed with the vast amount of stuff you went through. Thank you for treating it with such respect and sharing with us Madams story. I have really enjoyed the adventure.
Difficult always to know where to start first, assuming you keep the property secure (try doing this in scumbag cities of the uk) . Clear the trash first or find and pull the valuables first ? Decent Auction houses in UK are hard to come buy (sellers premiums 15-20 percent plus vat unless you can get favourable terms with them, plus lotting fees, generalists dont always get enough for items, specialists will want stuff pre-sorting for them, not an easy way to make a fortune.
And the treasures keep coming!.....what a fascinating woman she was and we got to know her a bit through your series of videos...thank you for sharing!...God has indeed blessed you abundantly !....
I am flabbergasted at the fashion history here. I am your Mom’s age and a wrap dress was all the rage back in my youth. I got patterns and sewed some because we lived far from fashion stores. My eyes got so big when I saw those labels. You live your life with an abundance philosophy so treasures come to you. I am so happy to see it.
Your excitement brought the episode to life. How awful when life shocks a person and serves them twists from which they recoil into a lonely hoarder state of mind, but it does give others a unique window into history. The mingling of excitement, imagined history and perhaps recalled or is it imagined pleasure from days and events long past produced a varied mixture of emotions. My wife spent weeks digging through items from our children's pasts, it is hard and often emotional work.
Note: My grandfather saved money in coffee cans and hid them in the basement rafters. He also put them behind the refrigerator bottom panel. Talk about Cold Cash! Lol
Tip for hans....the mask he is wearing need 2 slits on each side for his ears to keep his mask up .... then he's not having to pull it up all the time. Also happy birthday to second oldest Jason....and to Steven I think your going to be a charmer like your dad. Abigail will be beautiful as her mother.
Even if the clothes aren’t salvageable, keep any buttons that are, to sell, and keep a note with the designer’s name on any that are from designer garments. They can be worth money. For the garments that are not salvageable, any fabric you can, especially those in natural fibers-quilt makers love vintage pieces of fabric. Also-wasn’t there’s bigger attic also containing clothes? I’d check that one for jewelry in the far corners, too! Wonderful series, and thanks for the video about Madame Rac. You had to know, given all the clothes in the house, that eventually her spirit would force you to learn at least a little bit about vintage clothing!
@@terrylynn9984 No.The clothes were in the hidden crawlspace along the side of the house, under the eaves. The attic, he had to stand on a chair to access and then lift a panel to get into. Those were two separate spaces. There weren't as many pine cones in the attic.
Good morning❤️anxious for a new video...the Cadillac was interesting to see it again in a new light and the photo tribute was wonderful....what a interesting person she was, she had a great smile and her spirit was contagious❤️
I love how well this turned out for everyone involved. The owners of that house didn't have to pay someone to clear it out. Instead, someone paid them to clear it out. And what a great job they're doing! That is money in the bank for the owners. The vintage clothes dealer got enough stock to last him for a very, very long time! And Alex made some money from that. Then he found some more clothing! Hans and Zinovia made some money for their hard work, and likely got some new subscribers for their channel. We subscribers are having a socially distanced blast! And we'll get to take part in the auction! All during a miserable pandemic that leaves us struggling to find pleasure. Everyone is having their needs met, making a living, being treated fairly, and Madame is being remembered, appreciated and respected. Big thanks to Alex and Melissa! PS I'm a bit alarmed to discover that it looks like I'm older than Alex's gorgeous young mother!

I have to say, Alex ~ watching you clear out these hoarder houses is so therapeutic! It really makes for a strong desire to de-junk, de-clutter, and never buy another thing again! You cannot take it with you when you die, and you cannot enjoy in this state when you're alive!

At first I was unhappy that Mark shirked his obligation to remove all the garments, but now I'm over the moon that Alex gained so many additional treasures. This has been an exciting journey. I hope Alex is able to take some R&R soon.
Your mother does not look old enough to be your mother, she also has amazing hair. Some great finds yet again, never tire of watching your video's.
I suppose his has his hands full with tons of clothes and furs that he already has, so this smaller find was too much for his full warehouses lol.
About time Mark shared!
Alex: "There are more clothes
..."
Mark: "Enough!"
I wonder why :P
He's set for life. He's poised to make many times over on his investment. Madame was a pack rat that stored things carefully in boxes, bags. The items were in great shape, very rare finds.
Hahahaha
Mark must have realized that there are only so many vintage clothing collectors who are only five feet tall and thin as a rail.
@@HoneyHollowHomestead
he may have run out of storage))
DON'T PUT THE CLOTHES IN A WASHING MACHINE!!!- sorry for the capital letters, but old vintage clothing will be ruined if they are put in a washing machine. Never use a iron only a steamer and no ordinary detergent. There are a lot of videos here on youtube on how to clean old vintage clothing. A very big thanks to you for all your great videos - and a happy new year to all :)
I was guessing they’d need to be dry cleaned rather than a washer..but I’m sure it’s way more complicated than that.
Some of them can be laundered on delicate but I would be very careful drying them. Maybe a few minutes in the dryer to take the wrinkles out then hung to finish drying.
@@karenkoe7096 I just have a little ordinary handheld steamer and that works wonders with vintage garments :)
Maybe a delicate wash will help
@Stella Marie Poetry and Green Arts Probably not since that could end up costing more than the clothes are worth. Trying a few of those on delicate would be prudent before investing too much in specialty care.
Sounds like Mark doesn't want to see another stitch of vintage clothing for as long as he lives!😄
Happy Belated Birthday to Jason.
Bear that in mind while sorting through them
Funny, is it called umlaut in english too?
@@nulle1968 we don’t have umlauts in English but I don’t know any other word for what they are
@@Christina-hj4hh I know it as vowel mutation, but as a german I was wondering if you can say umlaut in english too. I just asked google and it says, that you can use umlaut in english. So funny,
I've never thought about it before.
@@nulle1968 ahhhhh I see what you mean. We likely butcher the pronunciation of it too. I’ve heard it pronounced as “um-l-oww”
Absolutely correct! Diane has videos here on TH-cam where she shows and talks about her early dresses. It would be worth Melissa watching those to assess value.
Happy Birthday Jason! Stephen has such a great voice! Abigail is a cutie!
Karma is being happy for Mark for getting such a good deal and ending up with this treasure 🔄
I got to thinking last night with all the money hidden around the house, you should pull the vent covers and check in the vents.
And the treasures keep coming!.....what a fascinating woman she was and we got to know her a bit through your series of videos...thank you for sharing!...God has indeed blessed you abundantly !....
That last tribute video was great, and what a twist!
Your so right but I wish it where filmed more slowly. ❤
@@sharonkaufmann3992 Try adjusting the speed setting down 50%. I had to pause to read the scrolling article.
Those wrap dresses may be the real find... Iconic item, made her name and career.
Yeah the green one alone is worth almost 500$!!!
The wrap dress was flattering to almost any body shape.
I was born in the 60's and when I saw those dresses I was like WOW!
Those wrap dresses from Diane Von Furstenberg are iconic. PBS just did a special that touched on her contribution to fashion design.
Mark said no to more clothes lol. That speaks to how much was in the house!
Note: My grandfather saved money in coffee cans and hid them in the basement rafters. He also put them behind the refrigerator bottom panel. Talk about Cold Cash! Lol
They do find some weird places to hide things!! 😆😆
I was thinking the same thing, there could be amazing things stashed in the rafters
There was nothing in the attic. Just a lamp. And insulation. It was the bedrooms & basement that held most of the clothes.
@@GolyenHighway there was clothes in the attic
@@terrylynn9984 No.The clothes were in the hidden crawlspace along the side of the house, under the eaves. The attic, he had to stand on a chair to access and then lift a panel to get into. Those were two separate spaces. There weren't as many pine cones in the attic.
DIANE INVENTED THE WRAP DRESS. I CAN'T BELIEVE NO ONE KNEW HER BUT YOUR MOM
Her clothing, including wrap dresses, has continued to be quite popular to current days.
I AM DYING OVER THE DVF FIND! She is still a force and her clothes are amazing!
Good morning❤️anxious for a new video...the Cadillac was interesting to see it again in a new light and the photo tribute was wonderful....what a interesting person she was, she had a great smile and her spirit was contagious❤️
Alex, you should get the cloths rack from upstairs. to hang those cloths on. Good score sir
Yes! Was thinking the same thing. As well as clothes hangers
@@eileenw6002 There must have been some decent padded hangers previously ?
That was a nice wooden rack. He could probably use it for store display a well.
It would be fascinating to hold a fashion show with the clothes found in the secret room - good for sales too!
With mom and Melissa as the models.
Great idea!
If the clothes are the right size for your Mum & Melissa, why not. Better get them practicing!
Diane von Fürstenberg is still going strong: 74 on December 31st i.e. tomorrow!
Hans & Zinovia did amazing job cleaning upstairs. A lot of hard work.
Cannot wait to see the clothes once cleaned, hope you do a full video of them. Please and thank you.
Such beautiful jewelry (I bet was her mother's) and clothes, its a real treat to be able to see it up close! Wish your videos were a lot longer, I'm always like NO don't end. LOL
Alex you certainly are lucky to have Hans and Zinovia as friends and helpers. You work hard but boy that Hans has endless energy and they never complain always willing to jump in and do whatever needs to be done. He is truly inspiring. Absolutely loved watching the series and loved how quickly you got the videos out. It was fun to watch it in real time. You too are a work horse with the shop, the cleanout, the videos, your family. You will all need a vacation after this one.
Definitely don't trash the trashed clothing. People will still want to study them and/or repurpose the vintage fabrics. Sell them in lots/by the bag full at auction if you have to. Good luck!
That looks a lot better, Zinovia and Hans have done an amazing job and I could easily tell they are totally honest. You are blessed to have them as friends. (another episode with the secret word GROSS!-Lol!).
I'm sure Hans feels lucky to have a friend like Alex too. He did do a fundraiser last year that let Hans get into a house after living 2 years in an unheated mobile home. It's a great friendship.

Von Furstenburg original wrap dresses -- worth a lot! The wrap dress was totally original and now iconic of the time. They are making a comeback.
Sold on etsy, same print, for almost 500$!!! Definitely a good score
Classic style. Very comfy and flattering. What more could you want?
No some were marked 100% cotton, and wool
I was wondering with Mark would get sick of taking clothes that he doesn’t have room for. Score for you! Happy New Year!
I have to say, Alex ~ watching you clear out these hoarder houses is so therapeutic! It really makes for a strong desire to de-junk, de-clutter, and never buy another thing again! You cannot take it with you when you die, and you cannot enjoy in this state when you're alive!
Zinovia was limping, I hope she's OK.
I can't believe how cleaned out the house is in such a short time. Well, actually I can. You have a wonderful team you work with and you always know the right people for the job.
And where to place the bulk of the items as they come out, I had three good buyers but one went to Turkey one downsized due to ill health, and one changed his business model when he got married.
Good thing Hans & Zenovia are thorough & diligent. A lot of time spent, and I would do a slow & Methodical inspection of the rooms upon completion of the clearance. You just never know what to expect there.
just wish all the toliet paper were moved to the loo now,
I’m going to be so sad when this series is over. It’s been keeping me going.🙂🙂🙂🌟🌟🌟

That turquoise necklace might be real judging by way it is strung and clasp. If so, would bring top dollar here in Southwest US.
Definitely. A good jeweler can tell which mine the turquoise is from, and if it's mined out, it's worth a ton more than current turquoise.
I"m guessing its real as well, based on the other jewellery she had.
It has quadrupled since it was popular in the 70 's . if old and real ...
i'd pop by a jeweler , white tee-shirt and jeans and it's 1975 !

You need to take another look at the 1930s watch. I have two of them in my collection. They are 14k white gold with real sapphires and diamonds. Hooray.
I have one very similar, was my grandmothers. Bulova, with every day link strap and a black diamond dressy one, it has had the crystal replaced but is otherwise original and working.
That watch might be platinum, diamonds and sapphires. Even better!
We had a little room like that on the farm, mom used it to hide Christmas presents before wrapping. One year we found them and did we get in trouble!
One year i found my Santa gift.😥
Still pretended to believe a few more years.
Love the vintage dresses! Kudos to Hans and Sinovia for all their help! Get better soon Alex!

I could feel Mark, upon hearing the news of MORE clothes, going "OH HELL NO! ENOUGH!" LOL. Just goes to show, just because some is good, doesn't mean more is better. Too bad you didn't find some more good furs in there.

Fur coats are almost impossible to sell now for a decent price. Thrift shops have them for as little as $40
@@franceswatts4001 that,s true and where I live the coats are sometimes defaced if worn in public. You almost take your life into your own hands wearing them outside.
@@franceswatts4001 Wow...must be a lot of unwanted furs where you are. Here I've never seen even a really worn one go for less than $500. Which is weird when you consider I live in Arizona and it's scarcely ever cold enough to wear a fur coat.

I laughed when you said "Mark said he is done with this house." So much clothing!!! My grandpa and Uncle owned a laundromat in Chicago in late 60's and many items can be laundered - just depends on the material. Just no agitator washer and you should be fine! I wonder if Lysol Laundry Sanitizer can be used - it is added to the rinse cycle and helps remove bacteria. With Covid it is harder to find. I am glad you got checked out Alexander!

I know everyone has talked about the mask but I seriously think you need to get an N95 mask. You really need to filter that dust out.
I've seen old console televisions like that gutted and turned into doggie beds/houses. So cute.
HAPPY HAPPY bday to Jason ! You guys did
Fantastic ! Zinovia is great at organizing and getting it done fast.
Take your son's metal detector and scan thru the pinecones in the attic .
KD H oh, great idea.
It's almost impossible to use a metal detector inside of a house unless the power of the house is off. Too much electrical interference. Even then, there's so much metal inside a house (nails, pipes, wires and vents) that it wouldn't be worth it.
The time to look would be when everything is taken out when renovated. There's so much animal waste from mice & squirrels plus all the dust they'll probably have a insulation or removal company suck it all out and remove any Batts.
Yeah! Good thinking! XXX
Use some sort of sifter. Metal garbage can with top made of large hole screening
You should bring the wooden clothes rail from the bedroom in the musician house, would be perfect to hang the clothes on 🥰
Love the dark green deco glass necklace that was at the back of the jewelry pile!! Hope pieces like that you will sell separately at your shop!!!
