The Thule Apex XT premium hanging hitch bike rack provides superior bike protection and multiple size options to fit the needs of two people or an entire family. The integrated anti-sway prevents bike-to-bike contact and ‘disappears’ when not needed. Bikes are safe and secure during transport due to the 7 inches of spacing between each bike. The arms of the bike rack fold down when the rack is not in use. Quickly attach bikes and easily secure them to the rack using the ratcheting cradle strap.

That's what I came here to see. I was gonna say- now let's see you try to take that bike off of there!!!! 😂😂😂 I love how they try to tell us we're all putting the straps on incorrectly. But I put them on correctly with the "click" and I'm STILL having a hard time getting my bike off the rack!!! First time wasn't that bad, but since then, I don't know what the heck is going on!!! I almost gave up the last time!

@@andresfelipe8605 Still love it. Besides being a bit heavy, easy to put on hitch and lock up. No issues at all. Would still highly recommend this.
Love everything but those damn straps!!! Installed correctly and STILL have the hardest time getting my bike off the rack!
Thanks to this video, I just purchased and installed this rack today, pretty straight forward I must say, I had it on in approximately 15 - 20 mins....curious to see how it holds up tomorrow with 2 bikes on a 3 hr ride, we shall see

I want to confirm -- that black pin that goes into the hitch pinhole does NOT lock in place, right?
Great question. You are correct. The pin clamp does NOT lock. The only locking piece is the anti-wobble nob. However, when the nob is locked it is almost impossible to remove the track from your vehicle.

You didnt mention anything about the two allen bolts that screw in on each side of the lower body. You can see them at 2:00 close to your knee. Instructions say to install, they come in a baggy with a allen tool. Mine cant be screwed inj, theres no threads...

Easy to assemble.
Mountain bikes top tube are rarely horizontal like road bikes. So when mounted on the rack, the rear wheel is going to be much higher than the front. Unless each of the arms of the rack can move independently?

Do you have to secure the front wheel?
Unless you are mounting a mountain bike from 1992 or earlier the frame is not going to have a nice horizontal bar to hang the bike on. I wish someone would show how to hang an actual mountain bike thats not a late 80's model mountain bike or a road bike.
I have this rack it hangs them the same way they just aren’t level
You can use a bike adapter if you want, like for a woman's bike
I have this bike rack. However the straps stink and are a pain. The older models witht rubber straps are much easier to tie and untie. 2nd reason. Kids BMX bicycles are pain to put on, barely fits. The rack is much easier for adult bikes. I can agree this rack is solid and does not move. Buy and try...
is it safe to use on a hitch that has a towing capacity of 2000 pounds ?
Yes
Go check with your hitch spec. It is not an okay by default.

Can you add a U lock on the rack to secure the bikes even more? I am nervous that the thin wire can be cut so easily.
You can add any lock you like
@58-1:10 is not true, our bikes were stolen off the rack and the thieves cut the cable lock.

Does this block the rear view camera?
It sure does!!! It blocks the view on my Hyundai Tucson and makes it squeal every time I back up! It doesn't bother me bc I don't ever use it. I'm old school lolol! And I would have turned it off so the alarm doesn't sound every time I back up, but you can still see mostly (and especially the side view) so my daughter who will drive my car sometimes asked me to keep it on. The noise is just annoying and then renders the alarm useless.
Can this hold a bike that is 44 pounds as long as the total weight of the four bikes does not exceed 150 pounds?

While nothing is "cut proof" Thule's' security cable is one of the safest and hardest to cut in the industry.

How do you remove the spinning lock from the vehicle? I can't get the key to unlock it it just spins?
