    I'm new to biking and have been searching for a rack and just have to say that everything about transporting a bike seems to be a colossal pain in the ass. And absurdly expensive.

      Hanging racks most convenient, but damage bikes. Expensive absolutely but the thules are built super solidly especially these apex so it’ll hold up 8 years

    If I swung this out all the way, can I drop the tailgate on my 2023 Tacoma? Not sure if the hatch on the vehicle in this video is wider than my tailgate.

    I noticed in your video that the black plastic is separated (on the side just below the yellow sticker). It is visible at 5:07 where your left index finger is. Is that normal? I have the same rack and the plastic is separated in the same area possibly caused by the weight of the upright part of the rack pushing against it.

    just wondering, if i use the bike adapter will the security belt secure the bike? cause what i noticed is it will just lock above the frames of the bike meaning the one using the adapter is not? so when they open the adapter they can easily get the bike? if this is correct any tips on how i will secure those bikes with adapter in the future? thanks in advance

    Why didn't you pop the rear hatch all the way up?

    • @rackattack
      @rackattack  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eugene McGloin ...could have, and you can on just about any vehicle, we don’t know if any vehicle with a hatch that you can’t. Share in the comments if you know of any.

    Wish I watched this before installing it as the instructions were very confusing, and I'm pretty sure the tightening arrows were the wrong direction on the step involving installing the long bolt.

    What’s the weight limit per bike? And total weight limit for all 4 bikes?

  • @jazzyk4830

    I bought one recently and it only has 2 straps per bike, what happened to the third one? Also, how do you strap 2 bikes to keep the front wheels from turning?

    • @rackattack
      @rackattack  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      According to Thule via the instruction manual, the rack included eight long straps and four short straps. Also, a cam buckle strap is included to further secure the bikes and front wheels.

    Once in the swing position, it will not disengage from it. ?? even with 2 people, one pressing grey button, other pulling. I hear it doing something but will not move.

    The worst part of this rack, which I didn't realize, is that you lose access for daily use of the back of your vehicle (think groceries). It takes a lot of time to tighten and loosen the knob where the pin is. If you leave it loose and just use the pin it rattles terribly. I completely understand that if bikes are on the rack that knob needs to be tight, but 90% of the time I just want to pull the pin, move the rack out of the way and get to the back of my vehicle. Now I shove everything in the backseat which has a different set of problems but is easier than messing with that knob all the time. Frustrating for me so keep this in mind.

      Agreed. We did the same , just left it loose with the pin holding the gate closed. It rattles, but that didn't bother us. However, our pin just broke (popped out, spring mechanism is broke). I think it's because we didn't tighten the knob, and all of the rattling and jarring took its toll. Mind you, we have an older model (Vertex), but it's the same design.

    What you did not say was if loading smaller bikes or women’s bikes you will need a Thule frame adapter. Yes four of those bikes would be fine but for a family of various size bikes it’s not that simple.

    • @rackattack

      Hello. Yes, handing racks of this type do require extra time and effort to load bikes in comparison to platform type racks which accommodate a wide range of bike styles with minimal effort. Platform racks, however, are bulker, heavier, and more expensive generally. Great that there are options for so many user's preferences. Thanks!
