“Slave Owners Were Compensated, Not The Slaves” | UK Face £200bn Demand For Reparations

  • King Charles and Sir Keir Starmer are expected to face demands for the UK to pay £200 billion in reparations for its involvement in the slave trade at the upcoming Commonwealth summit in Samoa on October 21.
A group of 15 Caribbean governments has agreed to push for reparations during the meeting. This follows Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley's recent call at the United Nations for reparations for slavery and colonialism to be part of a "global reset."
However, there are strong arguments against it, citing historical responsibility, temporal distance, and the complexity of identifying beneficiaries.
Ian Collins speaks with Heirs Of Slavery Co-Founder, John Dower.

Any person or group applying for reparations must be compelled to do an ancestry DNA test to determine their role in slavery because as we've seen recently in the US not all black people were slaves some were slave owners.

    1. The British did not take the slaves. These were taken by other African nations. They were slave transporters.
    2. There are no calls for the East African slave trade (mostly due to the castration of men)
    3. To say you feel the effect of something 200-300 years ago, sorry, you don't. WW2 was roughly 70 years ago. I can read, watch and learn all I can but I will never feel what it meant.
    4. GDP per capita in the nations where the slaves were sent is higher than the nations they came from. The law generally compensates loss. On this basis, whilst slavery was bad, on a comparative basis they are better off than had they remained in Africa.
    5. When do we get the reparations for the Barbary pirates, the Vikings, the Normans, the Romans?

Slavery to the black population was absolutely terrible, which was done mainly by the white population and the tribal chiefs selling their braves in mass to the white slave traders. BUT, what about the white slave trade, so do I get reparations for my family’s slavery and suffering? Slavery comes in many forms, i.e. forced to work hard labour all your life, in terrible conditions, with mass starvation and early death the only way out for millions. This happened throughout the world, especially during and before the queen victoria era in Britain. As an example, children worked in the coal mines from 8yrs old, but many would be young as five. These men and children, worked between 12 to 16 hours a day, with many having very short lives due to the coal dust and machine accidents, this was the same for the cotton mills and other industries. My own relatives, died in work houses, or simply starved to death if they couldn’t find work and some were even press-ganged off the streets, to be forced to sail ships, often dying of scurvy and malnutrition. Many were also forced to fight as soldiers in wars for the establishment, all over the world, or be shot for cowardice. So isn’t all this also slavery, slavery to a system, wherever it is done in the world!

Do we all go round appoligising to everyone, the Egyptian, the Romans, the Greeces, the pirates of the Barbarian Coast, the Turkish, the list is endless slavery has been going on since time began, it would be far better to set up a world fund to stop modern day slavery.

The irony of some white guilt dude standing up for black victimhood is now the norm I guess. He has also met people who have "living" memory of slavery in the Caribbean...let that sink in for a second. This guy is a race grifter which is clear to see when he pivots seamlessly to racism. Basically white people (only those in the UK) must pay black people money in Africa and the Caribbean money because we are all still racists. But you know what...lets be fair. When the African and Caribbean countries go on their 2025 Year of Reparative Justice, if they start at the Ottoman Empire and its territories/countries for the payment of reparations and apologies then perhaps the UK will think about it. And why not approach Qatar about their current slave trade which is in existence today.
