The difference between your wood working & mine? Sharp tools, practice, & most importantly, patience! Love to watch you work.

Could you do a video (or maybe you already have) on how you sharpen your gouges and other curved blades? I can never get mine this sharp

Hey! I follow you from France, I love your videos and I follow you since a long time now. I was asking if you could do a video about the sharpening of your tools. Cause I have a lots of tools at home and I don't know how to sharpen them. Thank you.

I love the "old saw" comment as you try to convince yourself it's ok. If someone ever mic'ed my shop, that's the only self-talk they'd hear LOL Love the project!

Hey andy, make you some copper gloves to go over your vise teeth... copper is soft enough it wont mar your wood and strong enough to handle the maistakes of a rough saw blade

  •  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Andy, I haven’t seen all your videos so don’t know if you already use it but I’ve been using Odie’s Oil on pretty much all my recent kitchen destined projects and it’s changed my life! Thought I’d share.

Hey Rawls, just popped in to tell u my lil story real quick.
I subd you probably a year, maybe 2 yrs ago.
But lately, I've been viewing more polotical videos and trying to inform the less informed. After a while, it can take a toll on you, and after just one minute of watching your work, I felt refreshed and ready for more. There is much more to be said, but that's the scoop really.
Your work is sooo relaxing to watch. Thank you very much.

  • @KarlBunker

Nice! I might just try something like it.
Lots of folks seem to treat mineral oil as the go-to finish when they need something food-safe. But walnut oil, pure tung oil, raw linseed oil and boiled (or "polymerized") linseed oil without chemical hardeners are all food safe too. And unlike mineral oil, these are all hardening oils, which makes them a better finish.

    • @AndyRawls
      @AndyRawls  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thanks for suggestion, I might try that!

This is my kind of TH-cam channel. 👌🏻 Not some overly animated plastic person editing to the point where they seem like they’re trying to make a movie. 🙄 but on that note great channel, I like the real ness of your videos as well as the amazing craftsmanship. It’s a dying art. Kind of like my job, real hardwood floors. Makes you appreciate wood and it’s beauty.

Hi! Love your work, as always!
Is there any reason you sometimes use handtools, when a power tool would do the job just as well except quicker? Like cutting the top of the cylinder off. Not hating or anything, just a curious newbie!

I'd imagine it's the enjoyment of it. I know I enjoy using my handsaws more than my table saw or band saw, it's just fun. Probably does it on projects for himself where time isn't an issue

This is very pretty! I was wondering have you ever thought about putting your workbenches up tall enough so you don't have to bend over so much? maybe make the legs a little bit taller? I only think about that because I have a horribly broken body so that's what I think about when I'm watching you create art sometimes. Lol like gosh I wonder if that hurts his back or in my case my everything
