I am directing them to your channel because of your kind and patient approach to teaching how things are done. I doubt that I will have to tell them that you were a former teacher!! Thank you for all you do for others who want to learn.
Ty. Looks very professional! I am jealous of your taping skills lol mine always gets messy looking with ridges. I received an order from an Ebayer that used toilet paper rolls on bottom of box once. 😂
Wow really? I won't even use old newspapers, I'd rather pay for filler paper.. The rolls of tissue style paper they use in Dr office table/beds works fantastic, doesn't weigh much as all and reasonably priced
Very Nice. I do the same thing except I use a zip lock bag that I buy from the dollar store now $1.25. I think I get 10 per bag. They can always reuse the zip lock bag for something else :)
Hi Scott! LOVE your content & style- you’ve truly helped me so much with my first 3.5 months of reselling- your video about fear got me to finally list my first item, so a huge thank you for that one specifically! Random reseller question: is there a list of abbreviations that eBay does accept in listings? As in MCM, VTG, EUC, etc? Similarly, how should one abbreviate “inches” if noting size in the title- “in” or use quotation marks? Thank you so much! Hi to Melody!
Hello. Love your videos. I stayed up all night watching them. I recently moved to a new town and bought a new home. The attic is full of treasures along with a outdoor shed. I was wondering how to sell this stuff and get a good price. How would you ship baseball bats and golf clubs? How do you clean your baseball hats? I would really appreciate your help. Since my husband illness, we need extra income and I know this will be our ticket. Ordered a scale and supplies last night from Amazon. Feel free to give any advice you think I might need to know. So glad I came across your channel. Thanks
I don't sell a lot of bats and clubs, but I do know there are a LOT of people that do. They are great sellers. I would just have boxes on hand. You might see if you can get something close to 6x6x38. 4x4x38 might work, too. I clean baseball caps with a bit of Dawn and a toothbrush. If the inside sweat band is white, I often use a little Clorox CleanUp on the toothbrush to whiten and disinfect it. I pack the hand with the plastic grocery bags as it dries. They come out great. Selling on eBay has truly provided us with an amazing supplementary income.
I personally stuff every hat with tissue filler so hat stays in the form of a head, bagged with clear poly, thank you sticker and then boxed 10"x8"x5", obviously coming in over 8oz but maybe I'll try some your way so I can lower my shipping costs since I have well over a 100 hats listed in my ebay store. Thanks for another great video
Thanks! This is the updated affiliate link to the product. Keep in mind, if you use it, I could earn a small commission. It doesn't cost you more, but I would want you to know. :-) amzn.to/3WaAziI
Thanks for the timely video as I just purchased a few nice hats at my local salvation army a few days ago!, the bag with air I wouldn't have thought that as I usually wrap in bubble wrap and would ship in a large flat rate envelope, I must admit the box looks more professional and is less risky, but I've seen in past TH-cam videos where a lady saved on shipping costs by cleverly putting the box inside the large flat envelope thus still qualifying for flat rate shipping versus what they charge for shipping in boxes 📦, I haven't checked flat rate prices lately, I wonder if it will really be cheaper or not?
Great info as always. I'm caught up on your videos and have learned alot. One thing I don't believe anyone I've watched has discussed is how they take time off/go on an actual vacation away from their ebay account and still handle sales and shipping. Obviously if you're a "one man band" so to speak, you cannot be in two places at one time. So with that in mind how do you still make shipping deadlines ? Can you please give some insight on that or create a video?
I can put that on my list of videos to create. I'm taking a trip in May. I'll do one then if I haven't before then. But, we usually put our store on vacation mode and change our shipping time. If we sell during our break, we always send a note to the buyer and let them know when we will be shipping. But it sounds like a great idea for a video
UGH! I need to update the affiliate link. Keep in mind, this is an affiliate link. :-) I may earn a small commission if you use the link. If you don't want to use the link, the boxes were 8X8X4. amzn.to/3HX49QA
I noticed when you were entering the weight into eBay's postage ordering page that you changed it from 13 oz to 8 oz. The 13 oz would've been your estimate when you created the listing in the first place. I've had the occasional buyer complain after receiving an order that the package didn't weigh as much as I'd quoted. Sometimes they ask for a refund of the excess, and sometimes I've been called a cheat, even if its only a few cents difference. I know its unfeasible to be precise as to shipping when the listing is created, but I was wondering how you feel about it when buyers act that way.
Honestly, it's really rare for me. Even though I may estimate the weigh a little high, I usually estimate the actually shipping just a little low. I am always cautious about putting too low of a weight. I do that so that a foreign buyer doesn't buy something expecting one weight, only to have it come in higher.
You don’t do ground shipping for these? If not why? I just listed 5 hats, sold my first one and i was dreading the shipping! Thanks for making it easy for us ❤
Without seeing your screen, I'd have to guess. Try choosing calculated shipping and see if it's an option. I've never had it not let me enter the weight and dimensions.
Question: If shipping estimate in listing ends up being more than actual cost of shipping, do you pocket the difference or are you supposed to refund the difference to the buyer?
The right caps sell like crazy. Do a search for VINTAGE BASEBALL CAP on ebay. Then, sort by highest first and then look at the sold prices. You might be shocked.
Hi do you have a special printer to print the peel and stick shipping label?or can you print it on regular paper and cut it out and tape it on the box?
I have a 4x6 thermal printer, the Rollo. But you can absolutely print it out on a regular printer, cut it out and tape it down. The other is just more convenient
@@TheChaChingKing that makes sense. I’m brand new and want to sell some of my personal items so might make sense to go the easiest way for now. Thank you so much for your video and your help
When you list an item, one of the last things you enter is the shipping information. We use a fixed price for shipping for hats. We've charged $4.99 for quite a while. I suspect we'll have to raise that before too long to $5.99.
Ahhh...gotcha. I didn't quite understand. I also use PayPal's ShipStation when I'm shipping something personal or to someone on Instagram.@@angelanewingham3690
Thanks so much! Two reasons I don't do free shipping. One good reason...one dumb reason. LOL First, when I have the price of the item separate from the cost of shipping, I can run store wide sales and still keep my Best Offer on. I don't have to worry about accidentally leaving myself short on shipping costs. The second reason is...I hate it. The thought of trying to pretend like anything actually has free shipping sticks in my craw. I just hate it. I'll leave it up to you to decide which reason is the one that's harder to justify. :-)
@ALvatar3 You are 100% correct. I think that free shipping may actually bring in more sales than it costs. It bothers me so much that I don't do it. This is a great example of why it's a good practice to question what a "TH-camr" is doing to make sure it fits your business.
That's exactly right. The size I use isn't the only one that will work. It also fits a smaller box I use for ornaments...allowing me to double box them.

Naturally, it depends on the hats and how well they stick together, but 2 or 3 isn't a problem. If you get many more than that, or if they have really wide and flat bills, you'd need a little bigger box.
If packing a hat is “daunting”, you should go work at a gas station and stop trying to be a reseller right now. If you don’t understand how to use a poly mailer and a box, seriously, go back to school because you really really need it.
