    If you double tap on the Sennheisers the mics activate and you can hear you surroundings. Not mentioned, but stressed with the Sonys... Read up first perhaps.

      Yah I was going to mention the same thing, that both the Sony's and the Senheiser's do that feature

      Jan Karlsson either he didnt know or he had a bias to Sony. I think its both. He loves soney sincw the staet but we as people figure out features we didnt know later on.

      The Senns also do NC at off, 50% and 100% and NC while wired. plus the music modes have to be cool, not for just music.

    Damn bias much?! You didn't even name some of the features that Sennheiser had! They do more just about as much if not more as the Sonys do. I think you should take time to full read the instruction manual and full test out the product before making a decision so quickly. This felt like a one sided comparison from start to finish and this is the first comparison between these heaphones where I've seen MUCH bias towards one pair of headphones.

  • @BlightBreedOfficial

    Sennheiser got completely neglected in this video. The PXC 550 are the best headphones on the market to date. Best sound, best feel on the ears, highest feeling build quality while still being light weight and durable etc.....They absolutely destroy the Bose, and are at the very least on par with the Sony’s. I don’t get it, did I miss something? 😂

  • @TechGeekDK

    really surprised that you put the PXC 550 in 3rd place on comfort! I had the mdr 1000x but often got ear fatigue, and they started to feel uncomfortable wearing over long time.. switched to the pxc 550 and these babies just feels so comfy and light weight. feels like I can wear them forever.

    • @tommi7554
      @tommi7554 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      TechGeek shape of your melon and ears might be different... I haven't had issues with mdr-1000x. I tried bose cq35 and i got nouseous and my ear hurted bad. Someone likes them, but for me it wasnt good. Sound was better too in sony.

    • @TechGeekDK
      @TechGeekDK 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Iceman 75 Very true, but still the pxc550 is lighter and the earpads so much more softer than the 1000x. also the material on the headband feels much softer. It does have a snug fit so can imagine people with larger ears and heads could feel they are too tight maybe.. but as for me, it's like they were custom shaped for my head where as the 1000x felt more bulky and also the headband left too big a gap at the sides of my head, making me feel like a Teletubbie when wearing them😁 with that said. I did really like the Sony, and for anybody who wants to buy them I would definitely say go for it👍.

    • @david1235102
      @david1235102 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Agreed. The pads are far too shallow for my ears on the 1000xm2. They were really uncomfortable for me after about 10 minutes. The PXC has tiny pad openings which mean my ears touch on all sides but the depth is so much better. Having the angled driver meant my ears didn't touch the inside and in turn, was far more comfortable.

      comfort and sound quality. All other reviewers, consistently listed Bose third Sony second and sennheiser 1st in sq, and the same for comfort with most saying that the Bose had a weird pressure feeling and the sennheiser the most comfortable, even though there are a lot of people that say that they don't have any pressure issues with the bose

  • @baoduong2203

    Although I do not have the sennheiser I agree with you UAC. I purchased the qc35 a few days ago, and I loved it. The comfort was amazing. Switching between devices over Bluetooth was the ANC were great. Thought the sound quality was ok.
    Today I purchased the Sony mdr 1000x. The moment I listened to those headphones. I knew the sound quality was much better. If you put both headphones bose and Sony at 50% volume. The Sony is much louder. I had to put the bose to 75% to match the volume output of the Sony. Comfortability goes to the bose, so does the Bluetooth.
    One other dislike on the Sony is the fact that it doesn't tell you the battery level!
    Overall I chose the Sony as my personal favorite over the bose. I returned the bose back to Best Buy. After an hour is listening to music on both headphones switching back and forth.

    • @Nathan5791
      @Nathan5791 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I had a similar experience. Noise cancelling on both is on par (Sony has a little edge IMO), however, in terms of Sound Quality, there was hardly any competition in my book. The Sony's sounded so much fuller and dynamic compared to the flat Bose headphones. Also, in terms of features, Sony are packed with everything you want and more

    • @Nathan5791
      @Nathan5791 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Also, btw, if you press the power button while it's on, it specifies the battery level (low, medium, high). It doesn't give the exact percent which is what I preferred, but it is better than nothing.

    • @FlavioRoss
      @FlavioRoss 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    • @baoduong2203
      @baoduong2203 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I never thought to use the battery on my iPhone to check the battery level! I'm just so used to Bluetooth headphones that tell you the battery percentage or using the headphones respective app. My jaybird freedoms told me the battery every time I turn it on and so did the app for it. Bose also tells you the percentage so does the app. The app isn't really good. Just renaming your device and setting a timer to automatically turn it off.
      Sony has no app like bose or jaybird.

    How is covering your ear more convenient than taking them off?

    • @StandAloneState
      @StandAloneState 8 ปีที่แล้ว +32

      It activates ambient sound mode, which enhances the voices and background noise around you. So you can actually hear better with them on than if you take them off. You can even use this mode to eavesdrop!

    • @Nathan5791
      @Nathan5791 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      It reverses the mic polarity so it pretty much amplifies the sound coming in and fades your music. It is so much more convenient than taking the whole headphones off! If somebody comes during work and asks me something, I can just put my hand on a cup and boom suddenly I can listen to everything! It makes you feel like you got Daredevil's ears

      ***** Interestingly enough, I've used ambient sound mode without covering the ears many many times. But I've yet to use the covering the ear cup feature. I do really like the ambient sound mode overall.

    • @elaroche24
      @elaroche24 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      StandAloneState cupping the ear up just turns on ambient sound mode temporarily, so if you don't always need it it's useful.

    Is there a difference in sound and noise cancelling between the MDR1000x and the Sony H.ear On Wireless with Noise Cancelling??? 🙏🏻 answer, please!

    • @rickydedos4085
      @rickydedos4085 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Juan Manuel Gómez Ramos yo i had the same question but no one could ever answer me.
      from what I've read, the 1000x is basically a noice canceling headphone while the h.ear on isn't really a nc but has it as a bonus feature. sound quality, the h.ear on is said to be better than both the 1000x and bose. I recently bought the wireless h.ear on and it sounds pretty good; not hd600+ quality but quite good.
      the nc feature isn't that great though. it does quiet your surrounding though so it's not bad. all in all a pretty solid pair. and i got it for a much cheaper price. got lucky.

    • @Nathan5791
      @Nathan5791 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I ordered both on black friday/cyber monday from amazon (along with QC35) for a comparison since they had H.ear ons for 200 bucks and MDR1000X for 350. I am keeping the 1000x and returning the others
      Sound quality: I prefer the 1000X. Both say they have the same driver, but the h.ear ons are a little bit more bass heavy however, IMO it muddled a bit at a higher volume. Maybe it was because the fit is tighter than the MDR1000x (cups on 1000x are slightly bigger) but I definitely preferred the warm sound of 1000X. MDR1000X have a perfect balance. Bass is present and plenty without drowning the mids and the instruments really play out well.
      Noise Cancellation: MDR1000x blow these out of the water. They are much better at cutting out low hums and persistent sound (like ACs). They are better than even the QC35s which was the previous benchmark. Also, NC optimizer is amazing when you have glasses or something else on which creates a slight gap!
      Build: MDR1000X feel premium. H.ear on feel plasticky
      Sound is really subjective, but I preferred the 1000X.
      Also note: QC35s aren't that good. Sound was awful to say the least.

    • @harryboi6441
      @harryboi6441 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Juan Manuel Gómez Ramos yes the MDR 1000x are more comfortable and don't feel as cheap
      Plus the noise canceling is better and it might be a bit of extra money but it's worth it

    • @MrFaithaleksandar
      @MrFaithaleksandar 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey i have a question, so the MDR1000x and SonyH.ear headphones, are not the same? because i live in australia and every time i search for MDR, it shows me Sonyh.ear

    • @Nathan5791
      @Nathan5791 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      @MrFaithaleksandar Nope they aren't the same. Sony H.ear on are the mid-tier headphones and their model number is MDR100ABN whereas Sony MDR1000X are their top tier offering. In the US, the price difference is substantial. Currently, you can get the H.ear on for 200$ off Amazon whereas MDR1000x go for 350-400$ so nearly double the price.
      MDR1000x have a lot more additional features such as much better noise cancellation, touch sensitive controls, ambient noise sensors, larger cups, better build quality and IMO a better sound stage.

      Noise cancelling on the Sony is better. I tried them both (ordered both to do an A/B test). I am keeping the Sonys and returning the Bose. The NC on Sony has an optimizer and you just need to press it for a few seconds and it produces a much better output. In fact, if you wear glasses, Bose suck as it doesn't account for it, but with the optimizer, Sony can produce a much much better output. Not only that, Sony has 2 microphones as opposed to Bose's 1 so they can cancel much more noise from both directions. Also, you can turn it off unlike the bose.
      In 95% of the comparison, I found Sony to be slightly better. I was shocked as well since I always have put Bose as the benchmark. These are 50 bucks more, but trust me, they are worth it! If you are spending 350 bucks on headphones, might as well spend 50 more to get much better ones.

    • @Nathan5791
      @Nathan5791 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Bose are a bit more comfortable to wear. But that doesn't mean the sony's are uncomfortable. I can easily wear the sony's for a couple of hours without much issues, but as the review mentions, the pads on the Bose are a bit more softer.
      Although the Bose feels more plasticky, I don't see it breaking due to usual wear and tear. However, Sony's are made from much nicer metal, plastic and faux leather. If you hold both of them, you will understand that the Sony's do feel more premium.
      I might sound biased, but as I said, this is subjective. Go to any review and they'll say the Sony's are better in all department apart from the comfort and I agree with them. I feel that tradeoff is well worth getting much better headphones. TBH, Bose sounds worse than my 100$ Klipsch pair. They are more for Noise cancelling and not sound quality. With Sony you get best of both worlds.

      I tried these three as well as competing options from Vmoda and JBL. The Sony was by far my overall favorite, but I started seeing reviews and posts about exactly the problem you mention. Apparently, Sony isn't honoring the warranty for this problem, so I sadly sent them back. Thanks for posting this as it's important for premium buyers to know.
      Now, I'm trying to decide between the QC 35 and the PXC 550. The Bose is much more comfortable, but the Sennheiser has noticeably better sound quality. Decisions, decisions.

      B&W headphones are also super specialist type of headphones. They're absolutely beautiful for jazz, classical, and blues, but hard rock, metal, hip hop, etc they don't hold up as well. They're just as good of headphones as these models, but not as universally appealing.

    • @Satfgk
      @Satfgk 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mario Diaz I disagree. The B&W headphones have a very specific colored sound with a broad high-bass bump. They might sound nice with modern, contemporary music but I'd never stand them with Jazz and classical. They're not neutral enough.

    Sennheiser's HD 4.50 BTNC just came out (roughly a month or two ago) and they're already garnering a reputation of being "Bose QuietComfort 35's killer". Not to mention the LDAC feature of MDR-1000X which will boost the sound quality if you have a Xperia XZ or a Walkman which also supports LDAC

    Loved the video! It helped me make my decision. I picked up the Sony MDR-1000x and I couldn't be happier. Found a refurbished pair for $250 and they look and sound like new. Thanks for the great insight and recommendations!

    Any decent overhead headphones for someone on a budget? They'll need a mic and should have pretty good quality.
