- We're back to Dome Keeper, and this time I'm up for a new IRON CHALLENGE! It's my goal to gather 200 iron, but I only have 30 minutes to get the job done!

17:25 the side drill went through the iron you were using for the tree. The tree didnt consume them.
Also DAMN that was so close at the end there
It's so brutal; regualr is quite doable but in challenge I was 1 bundle of 3 times so far very brutal
At 20:04 you can see only one block of iron is left. It wasn't hit by the drill because the dirt is still there. It's using them up.
@@ManJunk7 no because that only ate up the iron not the dirt the dirt is still there but the drill took the 2 dirt pieces at the bottom
I think the drone speed upgrade is wayyy more important to max than just getting a bunch of drones. At the max the drones move faster than you, and if you leveled them evenly, there will be about as many drones as your own carry capacity. Additionally, you can pack resources and leave them on the ground for your drones, so upgrading the resource packager is really useful with the drones.

Yeah, packing would make a big difference.
I don't even bother upgrading my own carry capacity when I have drones, because the idea is they're doing the lifting for me; I'll maybe give carry capacity one hit so that carrying gadgets and supplements isn't a pain, but that's it.
The whole point of the drones is that you put that iron into drills and speed, so you're just busting through the terrain, and the drones work in the background to gather the materials.
@@LabTech41 That’s a fair point, but I’m impatient when I know I have resources. Early carry capacity upgrades are timesavers, really. The amount of drones you can get doesn’t cap, either, as far as I’m aware, so if you have the water, I say upgrade the drones as well
@@ryukage7522 I mean, to each his own; I'm just saying that outside of maybe that one hit to the stat, I've never felt the need to up it when I had drones do it automatically. It literally shaves 2-3 rounds out of my entire run, just on that.
You really only have to pick up resources the first couple rounds, when the drones are still low throughput. Personally, I consider it to be the best addition to the game by far.
@@ryukage7522 their speed does cap, but I didn't try to hit the drone numbers cap. This was on the "barren" map.
Been LOVING your Dome Keeper videos! Found them about 3 days ago and have watched all most all of them! Just added it to my wish list. Keep them coming! That and revisiting Astroneer would be cool!

Few things:
One, that one weird slot thing that you had found is a in-mine resource collector, bring resources to it and they'll be stored as if you brought them up
Two, the resource compactor can compact up to 12 resources into 1 resource size
Three, dunno if you knew this one already or not but the tree can also grow on other resources as far as I've seen
Four, the drones can grab the compressed resource bundles

I finished all assignments and I always used drones, the best tool. Now for harder challenges -_-
That "hole" at 14:56 is a portal for resources, to suck in your base.
i actually added onto the wiki for this thing at first i kinda thought it was only eating iron, or was flashing another color for iron and would do something special...found out later thats all it was lol
umm actually repellent is the best tool (joke)
eh, drones are cool but I think all primary gadgets are nice. using just one of them for everything feels like taking away some of the fun because you always use one thing. also, honestly, if drones are this overpowered.. they need a solid nerf so that players are encouraged to not stick with just one and keep using other ones from time to time. drones are a good idea but seem too strong. balancing the game is important man..
@@LugiDergX After playing all challenges with drones, I could say you are right. Late game drones are strong for gathering resources and fighting monsters. You don't even need all upgrades for the drone speed as long as you have at least 7. They will eventually gather all resources in a few cycles and you can focus on more drill or base upgrades.
@@MegakeepWorks Funnily enough, my perspective comes from someone that doesn't play Dome Keeper personally, as it's not my type of game, but it's definitely something I really enjoy watching others play - I missed a game like this for a longer while now and Dome Keeper is one of those that heavily attracts me. I'm generally not a big fan of rougelikes and rougelites unless they are very, very specific and I think I only have one in my Steam library - They just seem too expansive and complicated, as fun as that can get for some which I understand, but just really isn't my thing. Same reason I don't play MMOs or at least the massive ones and other big games like GTA series, etc. Either way yeah, for me, I say this from watching Dome Keeper and reading people's thoughts under various videos, rather than playing myself. Blitz came in when all others have long since stopped making videos on this game and seemingly, he has been at it from the very beginning days of Dome Romantik and still hasn't given up on this game which is something you don't see often. Either way, I think that's what I wanted to say - Sorry if it was a bit too much blabbering for you to go through - When I start talking about something, I can go on and on but yeah :)

Ive only played the challenge mode of it so far and I'm always like 10-5 away from it, so ik I could easy do non-challenge mode, but blast mining, underground station, and the mega drill supplement is easily the best, I haven't tried using the first path on the worms, I always go the speed path so I'll see if the other path wins me it
i beat it in challange very easy, use the probe and drones, the probe its just broken you just mine 1 blok every 16 instead of 2 or 4 wen fully upgraded so you just mine the resourses basically
Heres some tips: first up at some point you said "i dont really need that but i will get it anyway" be carefull with your resources. And upgrade the speed of your drones. Buuutttt you could also just have been 1 second faster and you would have won. (Thats actually crazy)

Those two holes you found are resource chutes!! You can take your resources there to instantly get them to your base and it's super helpful.
Also, yes, you CAN go 4-wide with that sight upgrade, please do it

Just subbed and 1st time commentator. I wish I had happier news : / The 'mystery thing' you found is a hole that feeds directly to your inventory. You didn't have to go back and forth to the dome to drop off items. Took me a bit of testing to figure out what it was.
I think if you'd have used it, you'd have made. Ah well, next time!

I have been absolutely LOVING All of your doom keeper videos I would love to see some more of the challenge things, like the dens iron or the maze map, and maybe the packaging thing that you had in this run. Also keep up the great work

I spent most of this vid screaming "SPEED UP THE DRONES!" Seriously, it has a max of 5 levels and a swarm of 6 drones at max speed can basically clean out the underground.
Using the packer on big piles for the drones to take seems like a good combo
faster drones and faster worms, man

Yea I saw that and was the first one I decided to go all out and do challenge on. Definitely got down to the last couple of minutes there but I made it! Drones ftw. And of course meticulous worms. Although when I did dense iron with the hyper iron worms, it was kinda funny to see it vomit out all the iron in less than a few seconds

You totally ignoring the drone speed made my soul hurt. It's a HUGE upgrade and you should totally upgrade that more in the future :)
Just completed this challenge myself last night, used the packer and the drones. and got lucky on a lot of iron
This one was tough, had to restart multiple times myself. The drones are a great help for sure

i think you misunderstand how the tree works, to my experience the tree produces more iron when it has access to more so if it had access to 5 iron it will produce 5 iron per cycle or whatever time period, you can even plant it on nothing and it will give 1 iron. also while it takes a few cycles for it to grow it will also send out roots to other tiles because on one of my playthroughs when i got it early it had taken over a whole section of the mine
i remember getting like 170 iron on a dense iron challenge with assessor, drones and a lift

Hey blitz challenge for you, the barren lands next, and take the probe and make sure you take the path for reveal rock plus long range...the ore is SO FAR apart you really do not want to be strip mining...so revealing everything around you permanently means you are able to dig thru the softer rock and find the ore...it was a really fun challenge for me...also i COULD NOT beat that iron contribution until finally i just bored down to the bottom levels and extracted those big deposits lolol...took me maybe 20 tries, but i also never tried the prestige mode bc ive only recently pick up the game
also you can get lucky and open the basement slot with stationless probe, another lucky thing is reverse gravity lift...combo THAT with my new favorite thing in the world the resource packer....GAME CHANGER
oh you actually got the packer, max it out, 14 seconds charge, 12 rescource into one awkwardly shaped packet the weight of ONE IRON.....you can skimp out on the carry weight

You should really upgrade the drone speed about evenly along with the number of drones instead of focusing the number of drones first. When you have more drones, that means each speed upgrade has a larger impact (it applies to more drones). When you have more speed, each drone number upgrade has a larger impact (not only do you get more drones, those drones immediately have all your speed upgrades).
When you keep upgrading one but not the other, you run into diminishing returns.

That's a brutal ending, but when using the iron worms always go double worm. Its just way faster, and you get two worms so you are always getting tons of iron. Honestly IMO iron worms kinda break the game cause they make it impossible to lose...
At the end you should’ve just stayed at the upgrade screen and waited for the holy drone with the final piece of iron 😞
For the barren land challenge, use the artillery and autogun 🙏🏼🙏🏼

Great run, but Im sort of okey with you not completing this one on a first go, cause its a hard one. But going drones is the way to go. Honestly I use drones on almost all the challenges cause theyre so helpful in so many respects. But carrying and fighting, almost a little OP ;)

How do you get iron worms as a choice in the additional gadgets? It's not in my list, and it seems like easily the best thing for getting 200 iron
