“Who wants to think about gardening down in florida?”….I want to think about gardening down in Florida! 🦋🏝⛲️😁 what heat? 😉😅 I’m always happy to see a video from you. Inspiring me to keep our native butterflies happy. The passion flowers with the coral honeysuckle is beautiful. I didn’t realize the passion flowers had such a scent. 🦋
For sure lol…I’ve been killin myself in this Florida heat every weekend. But I can’t, not go out there, especially since I’m getting butterflies all day now…must…add…plants!!!
Thank you for inspiring me hard until a hummingbird and Butterfly Garden I have hummingbirds and butterflies and insects and bees and it's beautiful I live in Las Cruces New Mexico and 30 miles away is a nursery that sells native plants
I planted passion vine too - so excited to get beautiful flowers and fruit!! I bought fruit and plants from local Etsy seller - Hart2HeartFarm in Odessa. And I’m hooked on the juice. Scoop fruit into jar and add water. Put in fridge and let sit a day or two. Strain and sweeten. There is something about real, unpasteurized juice that is energizing.
I have 1 acre and I’m such a newbie when it comes to gardening soooo I know already there is a lot to be learn that’s why I’m grateful to have found your channel, planning my butterfly garden from yours. PS: first video I saw was the one talking about lantanas and we have native ones and hubby was about to get rid off them but thanks to you they are thriving!! 💗
I guess I placed my passionvine in the wrong spot. The little Gulf Fritter-pillars want to crawl up on my porch & front door. Some chrysalides are hanging from my porch now, though, which is pretty cool! :)
LOL! They like full sun... and sometimes the one that is dead... isn't dead. The rhyzome may be spreading under ground. Deep mulch and regular waterings is all I did.

@Laura Russell your comment made me smile so big!
@Russell Kasprzyk I love it!!!!
@HisGrace Very wise! I often film in the middle of the day due to lighting... But off camera I agree... stay out of the heat!
That's my kind of garden!

You can do it! And I'm so happy you saved the Lantanas!
I agree with Mr. PERCHALSKI. It is a gray hairsteak butterfly.
Thank you for identifying!
Trial and error name of the game in gardening. Still looks great I'm adding passion flower vine to my list after seeing yours. Great video!
Thanks Kim! 🥰
Love your butterfly garden keep up the good work
Thank you, I will Lauren!
The trellis looks awesome!
Thanks Teresa! 😄
My Bee Balm died back too but in the spring it was rocking. I'm going to try and plant some for the fall
Yay!
I've never seen firebush that big but I guess Florida makes that possible with somewhat mild winters.
that was a really cool thing to watch! I loved seeing your children so engaged with the whole experience!!!!
It was kind of hard to get a good look at the little butterfly but, it looks like a Gray hairstreak (Strymon melinus).
That's it! Thank you 😊

Any tips on really getting Maypop to flourish? I bought 2 plants from my local garden spot & 1 survived & 1 died, even tho I planted in the same spot.

I use buckwheat/coral vine and Passion flowers on my trellis. The pink s amazing and it is a great draw for pollinators.
Where do you get your Florida native plants from
The majority of them come from Wilcox Nursery in Largo.
@@WildFloridian OK Thank you!
❤
What's the best way to add passionvine? I have seeds and a tiny start with very little leaves a friend gave me. Sun or no sun? Wet or dry? Thanks!
Sun for sure! Average. Once they are established they’ll handle drought season.
Hello michelle
They might say you are a pole climber, but it seems that at this stage it is a bean pole.
Thank you?
I hate the trumpet vine it take over it has Orange blooms. I'm trying to kill it.
