      Thank you!!!!! There is a huge learning curve in the world of butterfly gardening, I am still learning so much. That’s what makes it so enjoyable. I love the learning process. 💛🩵💛🩵💛🩵💛🩵

    I’m happy to report that those of us in the North East of the United States are finally able to plant in the garden. It won’t be long before we get to see some of these beautiful butterflies in the yard. My milkweed did its job with spreading and that makes me happy. I’m concentrating on planting a bit more host plants along with flowers for nectar. Your garden is definitely an inspiration for us. Happy Gardening everyone.

    Such an awesome video, Susan! 🦋🦋 I love how you put all this information together…thank you so much! And pulling it together at the end with pictures is so helpful.
    So enjoyable and a great one to refer back to. 🐛🦋🌳🥰

      Oh good, I’m glad you like how I did that. It was kind of confusing to figure out how to put it all together because of the overlap of different species using the same host plants. I just wanted to make it as easy as possible to get good and useful information out of it. 🩵💛🩵💛🩵💛🩵💛

      @@ButterflyGardeningwithSusan oh yeah they see it from far once it gets tall. I started growing it last year because of you! I just started some seeds to. Mexican torch and another variety that only gets 2-3 ft tall. I love how this hobby made me learn about flowers and landscaping and so much more, I’m a guy I knew nothing about flowers really. I was learning edible landscaping so my yard work had a return... planted a passiflora incarnata for the fruit. And years later here I am. Lol.

    Great video. I learned some new host plants! I am curious being in Florida. You didn't say anything about citrus trees being host to Gaint Swallowtails

    • @ButterflyGardeningwithSusan
      @ButterflyGardeningwithSusan  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They are, I just don’t have them in my garden. I was just showing what I have. I am a licensed nursery, and if I have citrus in my garden that brings up a whole lot of additional issues due to the huge citrus industry here. So, I just don’t have any citrus. I didn’t even think of mentioning that. I am glad you posted this. 🩵💛🩵💛🩵💛

    Love this video Susan. I got my very first Eastern Black Swallowtail eggs on my fennel yesterday! I brought five into the enclosure. Those eggs were harder to see on the fennel, lol. Are their life cycles similar to monarchs in terms of time during each stage?

    Great video, Any tips for the wooly Dutchman , shade ? Soil type?

    • @ButterflyGardeningwithSusan
      @ButterflyGardeningwithSusan  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Mine gets about 50/50 shade, sun and it is just planted in my regular backyard soil. For me, they are extremely slow growers and it takes time for them to recover after being munched on by caterpillars. I have them in 3 types of locations, pots, in the ground and in a planter with a trellis.

    I’m surprised you don’t have a pussy willow. Just find one growing and take a few cuttings it roots in a couple weeks. Just stick in the shade till then.

    • @ButterflyGardeningwithSusan
      @ButterflyGardeningwithSusan  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don’t think they grow here. I have never seen one here. I’ll have to look them up to see. I grew up in Pittsburgh and we had one in our yard, so I know what they look like. 🩵💛🩵💛🩵💛🩵💛

      @@ButterflyGardeningwithSusan Any willow will do really. They grow so easy from cuttings it’s easy to grow a bunch in old nursery pots.
