    The skil 12v cutter is an excellent tool for breaking down cardboard or opening plastic packaging. Also, they do have 12v batteries that don’t have the built in USB charger.

    I had one of the first Skil powered ratchets, the one with the non-removable battery, the one that was about the size of the Harbor Freight Earthquake ratchet. Only downside is they only came in 1/4in. flavor, so I had to use a 1/4 to 3/8 adapter to use it for literally anything. It's still around, but the battery has gotten to the point that while it holds a charge, it doesn't push enough power to actually be useful because I used it so often. I thought about trying to replace the battery, but I'd be back to having to step up the adapter again and that was always annoying :D

    I have most of this line, and the only one I don't love is the circular saw. It just doesn't have enough power to handle 2x material. Other than that, I am extremely impressed with these tools. And I am a professional contractor, BTW, though I use these in my home shop. The impact driver and the LED lights are my favorites!

    Looking at it as a racheting tool rather than breaker bar it's a fantastic tool for the price with charger and battery. Plus, it has a five year warranty. Just ordered from Walmart for $99 and they limit it to one so it must be in demand. Just ordered the light and a battery at Lowe's and thanks for showing it. The deal breaker is the 5 year warranty on both tools. Much better than 90 days.

    A fair assessment. I agree with the form factor. I have the Milwaukee one and love it (similar to the Earthquake) which has the lock out. I was looking at Husky, Ryobi, Earthquake, and a few other brands and ultimately ended up with the Milwaukee. Part of that choice was the form factor.

    I officially am now in the pwrcore 12 line: it wasn't the drill/impact combo, but I did pick up the drill+battery+pwrjump charger on Prime Day. The C3 tools are still alive and kicking so I've got time to evaluate and decide if I'm gonna get more, or if I'm just gonna be happy having a cordless drill for 47 bucks. So very interested in seeing these reviews.
    It is kinda weird that they went all in for the base-style battery rather than the "three 18650 in the handle" style, but I'm ok with it.

  • @thehourglasswithaman
    @thehourglasswithaman 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Correct me if I’m wrong but as far as a longneck electric ratchet is concerned I feel like anytime you would be using that you could just as easily get a stubby Milwaukee impact in the same space and it would do the job 10 times better because it would actually be able to do heavier duty stuff like crank bolts or exhaust manifold studs. I feel like unless they literally made it and advertised it as more of an upgrade on the original as opposed to a different version of the tool where they dropped the price of the first one made the price of the long neck the old price of the short neck and improve some of the ergonomically‘s, I feel like that’s the only way it would be able to generate a profit and revenue. Because unless it’s like literally $10 more which even then you would just be better off buying the long neck and just calling it a day that’s the only way I see people would actually having a reason to have both

The sad part is that that Snap On & Mac Tool do not make most of their tools in the USA. Most are made in China & they use to or provide a lifetime warranty.

Luckily I'm not looking for one, just looking for a deal on a skil oscillating tool. Was hoping for a deal on a 4ah battery, but thinking deals don't come out on those 4ah batts. Yeah when I was trying to figure out what battery line I wanted to get into and I saw that cobalt had an electric ratchet I heavily considered getting into their tool line until I saw that Harbor freight had an electric ratchet because I am not a mechanic I work in construction so I would be using it to occasionally just wrench on my cars on the weekends it’s not like I would be using it on a day-to-day basis so I do not see the point in spending $100 when I could spend 50 and get just as good bang for my buck

    I am actually surprised to see such an investment in 12v on Skil's part. I thought most manufacturers were going to go the subcompact route. I do like some of the innovative things they are doing...but, ultimately subcompacts like Makita are going to give similar power output but in a far more compact package. Makita does not have a subcompact ratchet, but they do have the 18v version that seems to be about the same form factor as the Skil. I believe 12v is a dead platform walking. Milwaukee makes it work, but that is because of the depth of their tool line....until these competitors start producing die grinders, 3" cutoff tools, PEX and PVC tools, portable bandsaws....they just can not hope to keep that platform alive, because you can get a 20v tool that is smaller and lighter weight.

    Fail.....the only power ratchet on the market that is the best overall is the Milwaukee. I know it's expensive but it's not bulky or long with a standard battery attached to it. Keep in mind from all brands they are not impact ratchets. They are just ratchets with some power but practical use Milwaukee beets all. Now this is just my opinion and even if it a weekend warrior and hardly ever use it if u have one u will be more then satisfied and appreciate the slim size and dependability. U will be glad u got the Milwaukee. Justify your purchase in your head how ever u want but trust me Milwaukee is the way to go. But to each is there own. Just spend the extra $60-70 and get Milwaukee brushed ratchet u will still be more then satisfied
