    AMAZING!!!!! IT HAS EVERYTHING!!!! I love the fact you have a full bath, not a wet bath. There is an inside kitchen, couch, dinette and a queen bed! This is how you do it in a small space!!!! Wonderful job! A+++

      I have had this Toy hauler for a year now and it is absolutely perfect for what I use it for. All the comforts of home scaled way down. I even have satellite television. I did take it back to the dealer and have the Queen Bed put on an electric lift. For me it was fine. However my wife is claustrophobic and the bed was just a little too close to the ceiling for her. With the electronic lift you can lower it down to where you can simply step in and out of bed. Better for me too when I have to get up in the middle of the night to go to the restroom. Now I don't have to worry about falling off the ladder in the dark.

      I've studied toy haulers for years. These guys are the ONLY ones building up to the task. The cookie cutter ones aren't even rated to haul your toys. (GVWR) in 8 years they are building me a Alaskan assault camper! Insulated floor and all! They REALLY know their stuff here! This is an example for the rest of the RV industry to follow. But they're too stupid, the rest crank out a trash toy hauler in one day that's doomed from that day on of poor quality. THIS is a true toy hauler!

    Wow, very, very nice! Unfortunately with my budget I'll have to buy an empty 6X12 Interstate Pro Series cargo trailer and furnish it myself. I can get the "blank canvas" of a trailer for under $5,000 without windows, so can add what I need as my budget dictates. I'm saving your video as my #1 inspiration and idea video. I hope you'll continue to post videos of your new trailer adventures. Happy trails to you!

      I think it would be a blast to build one. And yes you are right, you do have ultimate control over the build. However, I know what that would mean for me. I would overbuild it, pay absolutely no attention to considerations like the weight of the items I am putting in it, and the dang thing would be so heavy I couldn't pull it. The build quality at Dune Sport is as good as any you can get because you spec how you want it built.

      In Georgia you can get a single axle new for $2200

    • @jonsmith2217
      @jonsmith2217 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DocsDetectingSupply I'm guessing this is the 5200 lb gross axle and gross 5200 lb gross vehicle weight rating. What's the payload the weight you can haul in the trailer? At first I thought you had a 3000 pound axle but then he said it was 8.5 wide x 12 long so I knew you had the standard 5200 lb axle. Also do you have to open the side panel when you run your generator? I've been experimenting on generator boxes. And I've had my inside generator box temperatures a to high not good for an air-cooled engine to get too much heat to it. I'm building a generator box based off of the zombie little generator box. And you definitely don't want the generator to get wet I burned one up once like that. Luckily it was under warranty. If someone was living in this full-time and running the 15000 BTU rooftop AC you could get the 2200 watt Honda that's made to Run these rooftop air conditioners it's smaller and it'll save fuel. And get the hutch Mountain propane kit for it. I have a 2200 w. Dual fuel propane and gasoline Sportsman little generator and it definitely wouldn't run that rooftop air conditioner because it's only a 80cc motor. The Honda has the 121 cc engine on their 2200 watt little generator. That cheap name generator called Cosworth I think it is they have bigger engines but they are heavier weight and most of the time you have more amps when you have a bigger engine but they don't show the amps on their generators.

    Looks nice! I have read a LOT of negative stuff about Dunesport using second hand parts and having really bad service. I know lots of folks just love to complain for the heck of it.... What has the quality, and service been like for you? looks like a nice rig? Also, what is the overall interior ceiling height at the highest and lowest points? I like as much headroom as I can find! Thanks for any feedback, Doc!

    • @g.m.lousignontph.d.7780
      @g.m.lousignontph.d.7780 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Used Second Hand Parts: I have personally been in their factory at least 5 times. Every time they had at least 6 new rigs being built a various stages of completion. I have never seen anything but brand new materials being used in assembly. At least 2 of those times I came unannounced.
      Really bad service??? Just the opposite. Let me tell you a little story. Last September I was in Morristown Arizona to go gold prospecting. It was really late at night when I arrived and really dark. So I am out in the middle of the desert and I am trying to back the rig up, and I can't see anything. (No backup lights on the Toy hauler, note to self, BACK UP LIGHTS NEEDED.) So I hear a crunch and I think I must have backed into some bushes. I pull forward shut the truck off get ready for some sleep. Get in the toy hauler. Shower, go to bed. Get up next morning, I hadn't backed into a bush, I had jack knifed the trailer and truck ever so slightly and caved in the front of the toy hauler and put a nice dent right above my truck tail light. So I call Dune Sport. I tell them what a gigantic idiot I am. I ask if I can bring it down and drop it off, and then when it is fixed I will drive back down from Las Vegas and pick it up. I figure better to drive to Mesa from Morristown, than drive all the way back to Las Vegas, and back to Mesa. Brad at Dune Sport says, "Doc send some pictures let me see what it looks like." Brad calls me and says, "Can you have it here in the morning when we open up?" I said I'll drive there tonight, and sleep outside the gates so I'll be there. Brad says, well it's hard to tell whether you broke any of the framing inside the dented metal shell but what I want to try to do is get a couple guys pulling the dented metal off, fix whatever framing is damaged if there is any, (there was) and put new metal on. If they don't get it done by 5, I'll have them stay over a couple of hours. If you don't mind hanging around town for the whole day tomorrow, maybe we can get you in and out in the same day." Well that is exactly what they did. So Bad Service???? I don't think so. That is service way above and beyond. AND, they didn't rape me for the repair either.
      OK so the height. The lowest the ceiling is, is at the sink at the front of the rig it is 7 foot. Then as you look towards the back the ceiling slopes up increasing in height just past the refrigerator. Probably 7 ft 10 inches there. But then you run into where the queen size bed tucks away up in the ceiling. With the bed all the way up your clearance under the bed is 6 ft 4 inches. Now I am 5' 7" so for me, no sweat. A guy 6 ft tall may feel the inclination to bend over a little but it's not necessary.

      The mattress is a posturpedic bought at Sam's Club. Standard queen size. The platform is made out of wood. It has studs on each corner that drop into "L" bars in the lift. The actual lift part just like an updown U. One goes on each wall, the legs of the U have a chain mechanism in it that transports the "L" bars up and down. Pretty simple concept really.
      Here I found the company that makes them I think. Take a look:

  • @powskier

    Does the bed seriously have an OSB base. That stuff off-gases terribly. It’s only a little more for real plywood.

    • @docsdetecting
      @docsdetecting 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I don't remember whether it's OSB or plywood. However, if that is an issue, they will make it out of anything you specify. I'm thinking I would have preferred to have it made out of Oreo Cookies, that way I could just snap off a piece at eat it without getting out of bed.
      Seriously, these guys are fantastic. You specify what material you want and that is how they will make it. I can tell you this. I don't think there are many trailers out there that are not made with laminates and anything and everything that is sturdy but lightweight enough to make them easy to tow.

Most of my underwear socks, etc. I put in a bin with a folding top and shove it under one of the bench seats. www.amazon.com/dp/B07R4CF2BP/ref=sspa_dk_detail_1?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B07R4CF2BP&pd_rd_w=VKmmZ&pf_rd_p=f0355a48-7e73-489a-9590-564e12837b93&pd_rd_wg=yn29n&pf_rd_r=CK7KZQ8JYAAZTMZY12WS&pd_rd_r=0b3c2c46-9ac1-4909-a8b4-e64f50d5de44&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUE4SlI1WENVSVNUSDImZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTA3MTUxODc1TE1VOElMN1Y1UUwmZW5jcnlwdGVkQWRJZD1BMDAzNDk4NTI1ODFaRUtSVFk5M0omd2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9kZXRhaWxfdGhlbWF0aWMmYWN0aW9uPWNsaWNrUmVkaXJlY3QmZG9Ob3RMb2dDbGljaz10cnVl

I have looked at several toy haulers and never liked the layout on them but now that i see your trailer with a sofa a table booth plus kitchen, bath, etc in 12 ft (its a great lay out,)i can imagine how much more they can put in a 14 or 15 footer. How do you like it so far. Can you make a trailer video on the field.

      I don't know about you but at the end of the day I want to eat, shower, go to bed, watch one television show to unwind, or a DVD movie, and then I'm out. Too exhausted to do anything else.

    Someone asked me about washing dishes in the small sink. I got some neat little collapsible silicone tubs, that give me extra room for dish washing. But for the most part I try to cook on my portable grill. Or I buy microwaveable meals. After a day of prospecting I am too pooped to play Gordan Ramsey. So I try to keep it simple. I use the better grade paper plates and plastic utensils. So I keep my dish washing to a minimum. One time when I did get carried away with dishes, I put down a rubber mat in the bathtub and washed the dishes in the tub. You get creative.

      Not good. I mean there are really not many steep inclines coming back from Mesa to Las Vegas, but the ones that were there, top speed 45 mph, I had it floored. It's OK on the flat, but there just are not very many truly flat roads. I ended up buying a RAM 1500 Eco-Diesel. Tows like a dream. I still have my Tacoma however.

What is the matter with these manufacturers. I don't care what their reasoning is , with all the technology we have today don't tell me we can't figure a way to safely. I still have it, and I still love it. I think about well maybe I should have got a 14 foot long one. Then I think WHY? All it would do is add weight and I really don't need that extra room. It's nice compact easy to tow and does everything I need it to do. Even when I am loaded with my ATV and on a journey. The way everything is arranged I can still access the restroom/bath, sink, the fridge, stove oven microwave, and climb up into bed and take a nap. So if I get tired on a journey, pull into a rest stop. Take a shower, take a frozen meal from the fridge, heat in microwave. Climb into bed for a night's sleep, and I'm off and on my way in the morning. No unloading the ATV. It really is the most conveniently designed rig out there.

      @docsdetecting 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I find the craftsmanship great. But you have to remember, it is still a trailer. I mean everything is small, and made to be lite weight. I have had no major problems what-so-ever. Some things you can be proactive about. Like realizing the door of the bath will probably swing into the counter of the sink and the door knob will probably put a dent. So before that happened I just bought one of those little adhesive bumpers.

      How many clothes do you need to hang? What I did was mount an L shaped paper towel dispenser on the bottom of the bed towards the rear. I got one of those zippered hanging closets. You can't hang a lot in there but it gives you some hanging room. Then at the front inside of the door to the left I put in a tall skinny cabinet. You can get them anywhere. They are about 5 ft tall 18 wide and 12 deep. Perfect to put underwear, socks, extra canned goods etc.

      It's like going to Las Vegas. Don't spend $200 on a room when you can get one for $50, because guess what. You didn't come to Las Vegas to stay in your room. You are going to spend so little time there, you just need something clean, with a good bed and a shower. Save your money and go see a Cirque Soleil show, go to a high end buffet. Take a ride on the High Roller. Your memories are going to be made by the things you experience, not by where you slept.
