    Thanks for all the comments. Sorry for the sound quality, I made this on my iPhone so I could use my wide angle lens that comes with my waterproof case but it muffled the sound. I can hear it ok if I turn the volume way up, hope you can too. Cheers

    @Mark Haak...reversing the hinge on that back door is nothing short of genius. I have watched over 200 cargo trailer videos. Hell, maybe 300! That is one of the top 5 most brilliant ideas. Thank you for sharing your set up.

      JC _ I am seeking a video of a cargo trailer converted to a cooking - only trailer. Not camping. Any ideas ? Thanks.

      @josephcampese5347 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @JC....I have never seen any Cargo Trailer conversion video made on your specific question. There's not a lot of focus to your question, either. I mean, cooking what, for how many and how long? I'm thinking you may find some answers if you research competition cooking. The two areas there that come to mind are BBQ and chuck wagon. The participants are everything from big outfits with enormous budgets, to the guy around the corner that does it for a hobby. If you don't find anything on You Tube, check out your cable TV listing. Look for words in the title of the program like, festivals, BBQ, chuck wagon, competition. I hope that's helpful.

    Some really good ideas.....I do like the reverse of the door...believe I would like to do this and attach mosquito netting or similar as most areas in South have plenty of them. I do not understand the audio problem...simply turned up the volume....was fine for me. I have had other campers with bathrooms......never used them and like you, I consider them wasted space and used them for storage.

    • @Friedrich-Wilhelm-1980
      @Friedrich-Wilhelm-1980 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      why cant you have all 3 inside bathroom dose not need to be the taj mahal in fact mine is only 16 foot long and i have a 4x4x8 bathroom a 6x7.5x8 kitchen and bunk beds sideways across the back 7.5 long 4 foot wide and tons of storage
      it works nicely for me the wood stove in the kitchen uses a water jacket to give me plumed hot water and heat the camper
      and it all fits nicely on my 1969 F600 6x6 my little 3000 watt diesel generator will run 26 hr on 1.5 gallons of diesel so running frigide and AC is cheap like $2.40 per day
      but like you are probably already thinking NOTHING is perfect no drive thrus i have to bypass under passes i have to pull into weigh in stations sometimes and at some point i need to add more lights inside and out
      it mostly only gets used to go visit my mom and sisters in iowa to avoid flying
      really i feel if you can get an old 2 ton truck that runs like new that's the way to go trailers are a pain in the ass sometimes
      i only watch these vids sometimes to get ideas on how to better use my 16x8 space in the trucks box

    I don't see what was gained by having the kitchen outside. It would take up the same square footage inside and be away from insects and bad wx.

    • @Wander_for_good
      @Wander_for_good  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The great thing about outdoor kitchen is you don't need all that extra square footage, if we placed it inside we would easily need another 4' length to our trailer to comfortably fit our needs. We tried all kinds of layouts inside and no realistic way we liked for us to have a large bed, office/desk, and kitchen inside a 16' trailer. So this works for us and the kitchen is never crowded!

      I have watched 30 or more videos tonight on my tablet with no problems adjusting the volume on it , yes, I do know I can do that and yes, it is a very clever device 🤑, but he does have his audio very low or perhaps he is very shy and speaking softly. In any case, since several people have mentioned it, perhaps it is wise to pay attention and adjust the next video accordingly. Towards the end of his presentation it was much easier to hear him. In any case, a very nice conversion and clever use of the back door/ramp. I certainly could be very comfy camping in this trailer. BUT, I am lazy and old, so would have to , at the very least, for those midnight bathroom calls, have to hide my chamber pot under the bed, lol. I refuse to run to the camp site's loo, dribbling all the way, with my granny gown billowing out behind me, six times a night, lol.

    • @Wander_for_good
      @Wander_for_good  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks for the kind words and feedback. It is a great idea for shorter people but I am 6'4" so do not fit if the bed is sideways and if one of us has to crawl over the other to get out for a pee or something it is too disruptive. We had plenty of room for two foldidng chairs plus the bed so 4 of us could still eat inside comfortably if it was poor weather out.

      @@Wander_for_good Makes sense. If you can't stretch out it wouldn't be comfortable. Looking into cargo trailers to do something similar. One more question. If the trailer is 7' wide on the outside, how wide is it on the inside after insulation and interior walls were added? Thanks again

    Really nice job. I built my first 14 ft cargo trailer into a nice camper in 1970. Since then I larger to a 36 ft. The 14 ft worked OK but I ran out of room and built a 36 footer and it was so big I could put my 18 ft 1955 wooden Lyman in it. Loved it. Pulled it with a Dodge 3500 diesel Dooley with a Cummings engine. Loved it T. Had it for 14 years and a trucker smashed the Dodge and I had to sell the 36 footer. Now I am back to a 24 foot V nose just like yours. All my trailers I use for my mobile studio because I am a professional photographer . Now I am back to a 24 foot V nose just like yours. That is why it caught my eye. Again very nice job. Thanks for posting it. My new tow vehicle is a Dodge Durango so I had to downsize. Thanks again for posting this.

    Clever use of space...Nice unit.
    I might suggest one up grade...find a spot for a 30 gallon water tank, or maybe put one in the pickup bed.

    How much did it cost? If you don't mind me asking....I'm thing of making one for my self,will use a smaller trailer,I live in Ontario and here you can buy one new for 2,500. Or so. I think it's better than an rv as you can make it the way you like and save some money!

    • @Wander_for_good
      @Wander_for_good  7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      We’re in Ontario too. We started planning for a 5x10' vnose for under $3k but the more we laid out our plans etc it quickly grew to 7x16’ then we needed brakes, more height, decided on tandem axels and decided to upgrade to all aluminium frame etc so was around $8k I think. Then some custom welding for the rear door, added windows, electrical work, insulated it, bought a fridge, bamboo table top and metal cabinets from IKEA, mattress etc added a few more thousand to the total plus a couple of weeks of time for all the work. Then there is license/registration/taxes and we had ours safety certified too. Really you can go small/simple for maybe around $3k or quickly go over $10k with all the options and customizations. (Prices are Canadian). Good luck with your build!

    • @sdushdiu
      @sdushdiu 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      A bathroom? Absolutely Not! Odor, maintenance, black water regulations - a 5 gallon bucket, disposable plastic bags, and an external privacy/shower stall with water tank, pump and heater is simple to outfit and flexible to use. Substantial cost, space and maintenance savings with All of the utility. ;-)

    Aluminum will never EVER rust! Rust is a resultant oxidation property of iron. please don;t confuse the general public, most people know rust, few know that ALUMINUM oxidizes...which is the ALUMINUM relative equivalent to iron (steel, etc) which forms "rust". Also, "stainless steel" doesn't mean rust proof... it means STAINS-LESS regarding rust depending on primarily but not limited to carbon content/tempering, etc.. And there are grades of both steel and aluminum ... it's called metallurgy. rant sorry but...
    hey great video otherwise! and i don't doubt your knowledge, but please present properly.

    Mark - I don't want to come off like a jerk here, but, I'm trying to wrap my head around why you would choose to face your whole food prep/kitchen on the OUTSIDE of your camper. It's not (saving) you any space inside, it takes up the same 2ft depth you said it was whether it's facing outside or it's inside, IT'S STILL 2FT DEEP. I'm thinking sleeping with that TREMENDOUS BED is your real priority.
    Now, you have the added distinct disadvantage of having to go outside for food. Could be raining or cold weather, but if it were inside, well, that wouldn't much matter.

    You might want to consider redoing the video with audio at better levels. I cast these to the TV where the volume is usually between 14 and 25. Turned yours up to over 75 and still couldn’t make out what you were saying.

    Very nice, but it is pretty necessary to have some water. Maybe a holding tank. They make a free standing sink with a 4 gal. Water tank holder at bottom. You just press pump with foot and turn sink faucet on. And it drains into a 1gal. Empty water jug or toilet, or if outside ground. It would be handy, washing hands a d face. i see no source of water yet, or toilet. Nose would have been great area for toilet.

    Here's a thing about tandem axles. If you are not loaded up it can be a rough ride unless you went with torsion axles. Also, if one tire blows and you don't realize it, the tire can come apart and damage the trailer. With one Axle you will know you have a flat and can pull over, plus you can get TPMS on the wheels with bluetooth monitoring in the tow vehicle.

    The kitchen was excellent and I particularly liked the rear tailgate canopy, which if required could easily be made into a self contained room with the use of a tarp or clear plastic.
    I also really liked the deep V-Nose which adds a huge volume of space.
    Edited to include paragraphs on the V-Nose.

    are inside, turning your camper into your jal

    reallly nice conversion do you travel in it with kids? talk about crowded. I like the kitchen, except the mircrowave could you put in on the wall or something your lose alot of counterspace with it. (I am a stickler for counterspace as I do alot of cooking so we can eat healthy most of the time) of course if your only camping a couple of weeks at a time a trailor like this will do fine.
