  • Laser Cleaning Aluminum (500WATTS) - Old Syringe Restoration,is the video of this week, about the latest technique in the field of restorations.

    In this video I used a powerful laser to clean aluminum. The clean laser has 500 watts power and I'm very satisfied about the results. I invite you to watch how laser clean aluminum on this beautiful antique syringe. The syringe is from 1930 and I found very interesting to restore this item. I chose laser cleaning instead of sandblasting because this process have many benefits,like does not use blasting media, chemicals or water,green technology - does not produce pollution, dust, dirt or gas emissions. After the laser cleaning process, I used different grit paper for sanding and then I used compound and polishing wheel for an impressive mirror effect.
    If you want to get inspired or you are just a fan of restoration,watch also my other restoration video on my channel.
    I'm very excited about how the laser work on this old syringe and for the next video I will try to use it for the laser rust removal.
    I will attach bellow the link where you can visit the Laser Cleaning I purchased and all its operating details.

      @@CoolAgainRestoration or that is where the pellets are dropped in to the gun. The plunger extends to the end of the needle. So only solid medicines can be used. As a vial with powder would have issues with the powder falling into the chamber, the only possibility would be pellets.
      A similar system is still in use. Google Ralogun. It is a 'revolver' version but does the same thing.

    The laser concept is relatively new to restoration. Bead blasting has been around for some time and is widely utilized. I’ve never seen a piece of metal “lasered” in person, however the process appears extremely efficient.
    My concerns are does it work well with all types of metal and materials? For example, I’ve blasted glass for a frosted look. Definitely worth exploring further.

    • @ArniSPeturs
      @ArniSPeturs 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It doesn't have to work well with all types of metal and materials, it doesn't have to perfect. blasting isn't perfect and doesn't work well on all materials either, it doesn't have to be perfect either.

      @EpiphoneShredzzzzz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I was hospitalised in February of 2018 and had to undergo a lot of testing. The veins in my arms disappeared due to too many needles. I then had to have some special scans done for which they had to inject a chemical they called ‘contrast’. Bear with me, there is reason for this long story.
      They had to get the chemical inside of me but couldn’t find veins in my arms so decided hey had to get a needle in between the knuckles of my left hand.I swear, the needle looked as big as the needle here, on this device. Unfortunately the nurse sticking the needle in didn’t get very far and gave up, calling her colleague to take over. Her colleague arrived and decided to try my right knuckle instead. Let me tell you, the pain was excruciating.
      Looking at this video brings all of that back. They never did find out what caused my abdominal pain, so all of that was for nothing....

    I had some questions:
    1. The gun blue liquid - is this to darken aluminum or other metals? Why darken them? Does it provide a rust proof primer coating? Not sure why you used this liquid for your work here, and what its uses are in general.
    2. What did the 500W laser machine cost and where is it made? Please provide some specs for general weight, country of origin, cost, and whether continuous or pulse laser? This is a great technology and hopefully will come down in price.

    You definitely made this piece look new again! As for my preference between laser or sand blasting, I think the laser is neat but I would want both systems as I’m sure sandblasting has advantages in certain applications. Thanks.

    The laser is cool to see (one time) but the sand blaster is well how do I say it, soothing. Watching the piece being cleaned and surfaced at the same time is more satisfying to me.

    In all honesty, I enjoy watching both methods of cleaning rust. The laser seems to remove without sand waste. That being said I need to see more of the laser to make a final decision. Well done!

    • @alexdeleon7135
      @alexdeleon7135 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CoolAgainRestoration Both use energy. The laser takes up less space. I don't understand the point of asking everyone's opinion if you've already decided yourself.

      No mate! At that moment I asked because the laser wasn’t bought yet. But the people choose sandblasting because they said , looks more therapeutic to watch. And yes, both consume but not at the same level . For sandblasting you need just a compressor and a vacuum but the laser…oh, that need a lot of energy

    I think laser cleaning initially, and then sandblasting, would give the absolutely best result. Laser don't go really deep, but it are good at removing surface rust from things with a surface finish or surface pattern. Sandblasting takes the really deep rust, but easily misses rust in certain places where the sand don't "reach" kind of.

  • @davem9445
    @davem9445 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is it me but I find the sand blasting very therapeutic and fun. The Laser is modern tech. But what I want to see is how the Laser deals with parts that are badly rusted. Please experiment. Similar to the above syringe where it has a two halves. Make a side by side comparison. Cheers.
