I always found Riven the most beautiful world of the series. It's nice to see it coming back to life with a modern game engine.
Some of the other footage of gameplay shows some real nice areas. I think it is going to be great. It might be too short!
@@Uberklocked Yeah, it might be easier to move around quickly and also less chance of missing that button that was only visible in one slide.
One of my favorite game of all time!
Strange to watch this without the noise of the cd spinning
I love Rivens world, so mysterious and isolated but beautiful and mystical at the same time!
Now all we need is Myst III Exile getting the same treatment ♥😍
Wow, this is awesome! I can't wait to play the full remake now! Thanks for sharing.
Just a few more days!
Riven is pure Utopian Scholastic ✨
This brings me back to 1997 when the original released. I see they’ve made some subtle changes in the world! Seems like the game runs really well.
Yes, they have made some changes. I wonder how many changes will be throughout the Riven world. I am sure they were somethings they wanted to do a little different from the original. I can't wait to explore the whole new game. It does run pretty good. I do have a benchmark video posted, running on an RTX 4070 Ti SUPER. While the game looks like it is going to be beautiful, it certainly isn't going to be ultra realistic like some of the other UE5 powered titles. This probably has more to do with an attempt to keep it light enough that most systems can run it. Thank you for the comment @charzakwinn1398!
It looks even better with motion blur on
I will test that out. Thank you for sharing!
Wow!
No ray tracing sadly. But I remember playing this game when I was 10. I couldn't finish It because I had no idea what to do I got stuck lol
Currently TH-cam is taking it's sweet time processing this video. Must be high load today.
Does this game have a reverse Y-axis option for the mouse?
Yes, it sure does.
@@Uberklocked Thank you!
Beautiful game!
one of the best adventures ever although sometimes very difficult
My monitor isn't capable of 4K and neither is my video card but it looks just like this when I played the demo. I guess I don't really need 4K. Lol
If you are watching this video on a lower resolution monitor then you aren't seeing it in 4K (3840x2160). So naturally it will look the same when you play it at the same lower resolution. If you have a Microcenter or other Computer Hardware store near by you can potentially see 4K in action. Then again, retail stores are notorious for using lower quality, low resolution inputs/source material.
We need Riven Remake for Xbox
Yeah, I haven't found anything yet on a potential release date for consoles. Here's to hoping.
メチャクチャリアル! 私もプレイしたい。というか、アトラス何所行った? 続きが気になる(#^.^#)
Thank you for the replay. Yes, It is fairly realistic in comparison to the old. I don't know about Atlas, perhaps we can find out when the full game launches.
え!?橋が崩れた!?( ゚Д゚)
Yes! I don't remember if that happens in the original or not. I believe it does.
@@Uberklocked てか、そうなると、第3の島から第1の島にはどうやって帰るんだろう? 何かあるのかな?
@@朝隈瞳 Hop on the other end of the mine cart and simply go back the way you came.
@@Uberklocked でも、そうなると、どうやってゴールデンドームの上に上がるんですか?
Crap the first time round...Yep crap again 👍🏻
it's not the same Riven anymore.
There are some differences to be sure. Perhaps you are talking about how the game was rendered before with prerender scenes that you clicked through. There was indeed something about the first Myst and Riven that this rendering type seemed to lend to. I still can't wait to revisit Riven and explore the world again, even though it will be different.
Care to elaborate as to why? Apart from the fact that it obviously looks different with the completely different technology used.
@@kalkstein2694 In this version of Riven, the scenery has been changed in places where changing it makes no sense. For example, going through the cave at the beginning of the game.
Another thing is to add something to the scenery, for example some objects in places where nothing was before. This idea is cool, it can even be explained by the fact that Gehn added an entry to his fifth age [if you know what I mean]
I know the original version perfectly well, I've finished it dozens of times since I first played on Playstation in 1998.
@@Uberklocked The game world of Riven should not be changed in unchangeable places such as the passage through the cave at the beginning of the game.. They should copy the original and possibly add something in places that were not used in the original..
@@cube206 Do you mean the changing of the location of the throne room? Because this change actually is great lore-wise and makes perfect sense.
As for adding I would see it more as Cyan creating something that fits their vision more efficiently. Perhaps this is how they imagined Riven from the beginning but were limited by the technology? Or perhaps this is something that came to their minds in the 25+ years since the creation of the game, and they think makes more sense or is generally better.
River is one of the most boring and lame game, the sells of it was only to non gamers , its hype for noting saying otherwise is proving you dont know much about the gaming industries'
If you really think that so are you a stupid person. That I laughing at, becouse some person like thus game. And some like going around and shout peopel whitout having to think whit a lot of your brain
"River is one of the most boring and lame game, the sells of it was only to non gamers , its hype for noting saying otherwise is proving you dont know much about the gaming industries'"
Before you write your senseless and irrational comments to provoke here only I'd suggest to take some private lessons concerning spelling
@@yen8659 Yeah yeah yeah when some body has no come back he always go for spelling .. still a boring and lame game that no real gamer play
@@Freeway7just say you’re not smart enough to make it off the first island
@@Freeway7How old are you? This is exactly what "real gamers" were playing in the '90s.
I'm not a fan of the CGI characters when compared to the live action ones in the original clips, even though I know that there is no way they can have the original live action clips without locking the camera in place. Other then that, the island itself looks amazing.
Yeah, the live action videos were a nice touch to the original. However, they probably could have done better with the new CGI renders too. Still the game looks like it will be fun.
Agreed. The CGI characters are really iffy for me. Part of what made the original so immersive was having those real people there talking to you. Other than that, I'm loving how this is looking.
At least they were able to track those original performances as motion capture references for the new models. So it's still those performances retained, in a way. And I'm sure in future updates they will update the character models and make them photorealistic. Until that day, I still think this will be the new definitive way to play the game. Overall I'm still incredibly excited!
That said, I think it helps that they're reusing the original audio in a lot of places, and while Atrus' lines are re-recorded, he's still played by Rand Miller.
@@reasonlessguru3724 c'est ce qui a rendu le jeu unique et là il l'on tout simplement foutu en l'air...je reste avec les anciennes version !
It seems there are large water holes in the ocean, maybe because of the dislocation of Riven. Totaly consistant ! Nice addition!
the days are moving too slow.... I request an early release please!
I can't wait either, my friend!
え~!( ゚Д゚) いきなりここに出ちゃうの~!?
HUH! Interesting...
You can access the Marble Dome almost right away... That wasn't the case in the Original game. I thought the changes here in the Remake would be smaller, but i guess they are quite significant!
Everything looks like a soap opera in 4K. Overrated.
4K doesn't have that affect on me. It's the refresh rates that does that. Most content especially TV and Movies has the "Soap Opera" look if viewed at higher refresh rates like 120Hz or higher.
The game seems complicated as fck...
Aye! Have you never played a Myst game before? They are all a blast. You can download the Riven demo from Steam if you want to check it out without committing any funds.
おお靴音付き!
Yes, I don't remember if the original had the footstep sounds or not. Nice touch for sure!

Why do you say that?
