17:30 - Quick tip. Tape the camera down with some Kapton tape. Tape the four wires down close to where they will go also with Kapton tape. Hold them in place with tweezers to aid soldering.

For those asking how he found the camera pin connection diagram:
Using multimeter before removing the camera from phone motherboard, then
1. GND is very easy to find, it is shorted to GND of the phone
2. V+ is the 5V input from phone (this might be the hardest to find if you don't have experience in tracing the input voltage). Find pin that has no connection with the GND (but there might be more than one). The OP found out using diode test but does not show which one to test. Another way to find out 5V rail is to find the Power IC or Mosfet that gives the 5V to whole motherboard and find the direct connection. While the data lines are typically not directly connected to power rail (it has connection but has pull-up resistor like 10k Ohm) but directly connected to one of motherboard SOC leg.
3. Then the rest of D+ and D- are found by trial and error (using permutation).
First, the testing is done by soldering & jumpering the pins of the camera (while camera still attached in phone board) directly to USB and then PC as seen in 8:09.
And NOTE that only some cameras support direct USB interface. So, this will work only on few phone models.
And if you guess the 5V line wrong, you might permanently damage the whole system.

what do you think would be the latest (potentially best) phone camera with usb-controller built in? because i guess modern phone cams won`t have that usb controller built in or do they? if they did everybody would do stuff like that instead of buying expensive webcams right? would be crazy to use some ludacris multi camera from a Huawei or IPhone as a usb webcam. Do you think there is any way of making that reality? like with an external usb controller? but what kind of protocol do these modern cameras speak? is it something like those 15pin RasPI cameras? that was a cool vid to watch but not sure why you wrote down the numbers on the pad ? also i have a challenge for you the nerf nightfinder scope is very basic IR scope the leds can be swapped out for better ones but the screen inside the scope is bad and the zoom is a digital zoom on a tiny pixel screen any chance you could look to improve it some how would love that vid and then i could copy to improve my own lol

This is been something I have a problem with anyone who claims they can use any pins on the camera module to USB conversion. It just doesn't work that way. I guess he meant to show the camera module number at the beginning from there he took down the numbers 12, 4, 16 and 20 for this module but he doesn't show the part where he supposedly read that from some module white paper. In any camera the control module has a make and model.. you can search for information on the web.

how to find camera connection s well
Well, When the Camera unit was on the mother board (Before he sliced it off ), the VCC ( + ) and VDD (-) could logically be checked by simple continuity test with reference to corresponding on the mother board. Once it is identified with 100 % accuracy, DATA + and DATA - could be found by trial and error basis. This being a USB format, the assembly could be tested on a desktop or laptop PC. Once your PC detects correct settings, you are rest assured. BUT MAKE SURE THAT DC input to camera is correct. Or you will end up damaging the camera. But in most cases, I have found that, these sub systems like camera etc have built in DC polarity protection. But not necessarily. My observations are based on my experience working on a similar scenario, using a web cam extracted from a broken lenovo laptop screen. Will try to post a video on my channel with detailed explanation, in due course.

What is the purpose of numbers you wrote in yellow paper? What is the pin of camera? Its like a pin of otg connector? (+ , Data -, Data +, -)
yess. You must use a multimeter. The GND pin is very easy to find, because it's connected to the GND on the board. Pin V + connected to + 5V from the power IC. And D + and D- I found it by "Trial And Error Method". You will find it. However, not all cameras have usb communication.
No first you have to break it apart remove vibration motor completely then speakers completely then find back lighting wires make mini switch to disable screen . This will keep you from getting cought.
