I think this makes you think on the small moments where we can make a significant impact on others lives. It's not always about the grand gestures but the small acts of listening and being present. I like that.
I have never, ever hesitated to talk to someone going through something heavy. It's not about knowing what to say, it's not about solving problems, it's about being *present* for that person when nobody else will. It's about being human.
I once shared something heavy with a friend, and they immediately jumped to solutions. It felt dismissive. I wish they had just listened like you described.
I had Nash speak to business leaders at a Chamber of Commerce event about empathic leadership and it was a big hit. He really knows how to connect with the audience in sharing a meaningful message. Everyone loved him! This is such an important message and he shares it beautifully.
Oh man the 6:30 mark really made me choke up. Just the motioning to his chest... I can't explain it but I really felt it. Maybe I'm a little filled up myself
Ahh why am I getting so emotional?? I feel like he is such a sweet and noble man, just the way he words things let alone what he does, it's really beautiful and I was not prepared to be so moved by it all.
I know exactly what he means about those moments when you have to choose to keep playing your role or drop the act and connect on a human level. This used to happen to me all the time in my workplace. It was a shop right next to one of the main train stations in the city and allll kinds would come through.
I get what he's talking about around the 3:20 mark. It's like it frees you up to find the solution together and also because you're not coming at them with a "I know all" kind of attitude, it makes you more endearing. That's what I think anyway
i LOVE this!!! NASH, you are an amazing speaker, magician and human. your message is deep and profound. authentically connecting with each other is so incredibly important. i wish the whole world would know the wisdom in your talk. wonderfully done. thank you...
Marvellous speech. So many times I have felt too uneducated and useless when listening to others share woes with me but now I see my quiet listening was at least something for them in that sad moment. Thank you.
The idea that not knowing what to say can lead to better support is interesting, but I'm skeptical about how practical this approach is in real-world situations outside of a controlled environment
Whether on stage or strolling the town, you’re always the most kind, open minded, and non judgmental person I know. Thank you for sharing your passion for connecting on a human level and sharing tools to help us learn how to apply them 💜
This lesson is something I practice every day as a therapist. I so appreciate Nash's support of asking the simple questions or making simple comments first. He's so right that they can mean the world to someone.
Though every situation is different, for the vast majority, choosing to be present for someone, to listen, to help them feel understood & heard is a good start. Of course, if we can proceed to help guide someone to their solutions, that's even better! The flip-side of that is people hesitate to offer support because they fear not knowing how to help someone resolve their challenges, which renders the other person suffering alone :( But what I had learned is, the simple act of reaching out in it of itself is helpful. (I think there's a research that shows people feel 70% better just because someone reached out). So I hope this talk can help someone resolve those "fears" so they can support others in need :)
Using a Rubik’s Cube and a jar filled with water as metaphors for problem-solving and emotional support was a clever choice! Even without it being a whole magic trick lol
This is amazing thank you 🙏🏾 It always amazes me how we serve an on-time. Perfect God I did support someone right before I clicked on this video. I let them know I’m here for you.
I love Mexican food, I wish I was there to see your first magic, I had the chance to see it when we went to university together, close enough. The magic lives on
I will be forever grateful to you, you changed my whole life and I will continue to preach on your behalf for the whole world to hear you saved me from huge financial debt with just a small investment, thank you Brenda Devore
Wow. I'm a bit perplexed seeing her been mentioned here also Didn't know she has been good to so many people too this is wonderful, i'm in my fifth trade with her and it has been super.
The first step to successful investing is figuring out your goals and risk tolerance either on your own or with the help of a financial professional but is very advisable you make use of a professional.
Maybe I’m wrong, but it seems like bro was more impressed with his own performative good deed and sweet magic trick than actual concern for the lady at the restaurant. The basic message here wasn’t bad but I got kind of a weird disingenuous feeling from the talk
Whoa I had no idea cold case playing cards were a thing? That seems incredibly morbid. I get wanting to bring more awareness to the cases but whose really going to choose to buy a deck of cards like that?
I appreciate him using this platform not just to entertain but to spread a message of how to help others in such a simple but impactful way
I think this makes you think on the small moments where we can make a significant impact on others lives. It's not always about the grand gestures but the small acts of listening and being present. I like that.
He makes a lot of fantastic points, particularly about giving someone the space to empty themselves before going straight to solution mode
Thank you everyone for watching my TEDx talk :)
I hope it was helpful to you and the people you care for in your life
thank you for sharing this story and your talents! This is just what I needed to see today
Absolutely inspiring, Nash! You're the best

Nash- your talk was brilliant. Honestly, it’s now in my top 5 favourite Tedx of all time. So well crafted. Great job brother! 🙌🏻
The way he connected magic with empathetic communication was awesome! It really showed the importance of presence and genuine engagement
I’ve definitely been in situations where I didn’t know what to say... it's nice to know I can just listen and acknowledge someone's pain, thank you.
This was eye-opening! It’s so true that many people are struggling in silence. We should all strive to be more present for each other
What a heartfelt and warm presentation. The magic of active listening. Empathy is so powerful!
I legit think this is the most beautiful and actually helpful TEDx talk I've ever seen.

Focusing on empathy is crucial, but the story leaves me wondering how often people really open up in such vulnerable ways in everyday settings

Magic, but not in his tricks, magic in his words!
"The people search for an ear to listen, but found mouth."
True. Mouths in multiple, usually loud and not helpful. 😥
Follow your instinct ! Listen to yourself not people !

You are truly a magician of the heart Thank you so much for sharing!
While I appreciate the sentiment, I wonder if simply listening is enough in every situation. Sometimes people need actionable help too.
