This is such a relatable episode. I'm american but have been living in britain for the last 15 years. When i have family or friends from the USA visit me, i get to "play tourist" in my own country and experience my fam an friends trying all the foods and places i'm so used to, and watch them enjoy it so much. It's fun!
It was so much fun! We ended up doing things I always wanted to try, but just needed the push from my family to make it happen. I don’t know if I would have ended up trying the pearl experience unless they were here!

Shikoku is my favourite place in Japan, especially Seto Naikai and Kochi. But pretty much everywhere on the island is amazing. I went there so many times. We had 2 roadtrips there with my wife. The last one was spring 2023 with our 3-year-old. We drove along almost all the coast. One of few parts we skipped was the Tatsukushi Coast. Is it worth it? If youre not afraod of driving on a moutain pass, i recommend the 439!

Haha, cleaning the fridge before guests come :D I felt seen! Pancake gets really big now. Isn't he behaved well enough to roam around the house freely? Guess he would go chasing these cheeky monkeys. Hope you all can cope with the heat.
He has his good days and bad days. We're still working on recall with him. He is usually well-behaved, but sometimes he succumbs to his wild dog instincts, which can be especially problematic if there are monkeys around!
This is coming from a die-hard Kyushu fan: you make me want to visit Shikoku!!! It was wonderful seeing your family experience the beauty Japan has to offer.
I love Kyushu too! If you ever have the opportunity, exploring Shikoku has a southern island vibe that's different from Kyushu and very worth checking out!
I can't discern what kind of a snake which appears at 4:04 , but in the countryside of of Japan there are not a few poisonous snakes called "mamushi" (a pit viper). Beware of them when you go into a forest.

足摺海底館はとても懐かしいです！３５年前にバイクツーリングで立ち寄りました。高知は東西に長く移動は不便で泊まりがけになることも多いですが自然も食べ物もお酒も素晴らしいです。高知の田舎の人は素朴で高齢者との会話は同じ高知県人でも方言の関係で若い人は半分くらいしか理解できないと言っていました。海はダイビングスポットが多く楽しめます。四国山地は面河や柳谷などで日本猿の群れを見たことがあります。

Kochi Prefecture's dialect can be difficult for even Japanese people to understand. It's a distinctive dialect, but I personally love it.
The people in the countryside are the Japanese, so they understand perfectly what you say if you talk in the standard Japanese.
