As long as pakistan has something to lose, it wont use nukes, because for every nuke they use, India can launch 2 nukes. Sure if India says - "We are going to invade karachi and take over all of pakistan" then pakistan might just resort to nukes.
Its more like your big brother saying - "Either take a punch from me quietly, or you can fight, but then i am going to beat the crap out of you" ... you will chose not to fight.
Same with War against more powerful nation and nukes.
And there is always a question of if pakistan even have the technology and resources to make nuclear weapons. The nuclear tests they did was more of a response to India doing the same, and most intelligent agencies think china just supplied them with a nuke for this purpose.

Putting boots on the ground in Afghanistan will surely make India much more stronger regionally as well as globally, but the main question is are we (citizens of India) ready to bear the cost? there'll be coffins of soldiers coming alternate days from Afghanistan, there'll never be a consensus on this among us, better we should opt for alternative to this!
If you really love Kashmiri people and our Motherland you must do it. Else all fake courage and then not attacking like a fucking coward will make us only weaker. We need to bomb the Taliban and Pakistani generals out of existence and reclaim all our lost culture, land etc.

Totally against the idea , because no country has succeeded in a military occupation of Afghanistan. So many factions of fanatical fighters would gang up . In any case, it would be a non starter logistically, without first taking POK.

I think buying Rafale is not just based on military strengths, but there is a diplomatic angle to it too. France has supported India in civil nuclear co-operation, making Vikas rocket engine, solar alliance and as recently as 2019 in designating Hafiz Saeed as a terrorist. We can't ignore all these and simply go and buy US F16s when US has supported Pakistan till very recently and is probably still. Also, US mindset is of business transactions where they change their positions based on their current interests, whereas other countries since having long histories don't treat these as simple transactions but as long term partnerships

Nope, dogfighting is no longer the MO. The F/A-18's early threat detection and avionics package along with any support AWAC aircraft the US can provide us are far superior to what we have today. You don't need to dogfight if you can eliminate the threat before it gets too close.

Also the IRIS-T package which is housed in the F/A-18 is probably the second best, which would certainly give us air superiority in the region, as neither China or Pakistan have tech that even comes in the ball park. Another thing to be considered is that India is looking to the US for CATOBAR for its next gen aircraft carriers, their aircrafts can be better retrofitted to that system.

Mr Swami has said the right thing. I suggest India should pay for the Indian Army soldiers' family in the form of a trust fund meant for all Indian soldiers who go to the front that they automatically receive a huge sum of money plus education and placement for their children be already discussed in advance. I would love that each Indian soldier is assured not verbally but through proper documentation and legalities that this sum of money and taking care of children is guaranteed for them before they set their foot on the battle field.

strategic partnerships, superior weapons, stocking enough ammunition, unity among soldiers, vigorous training, stratergy, meritorious army, honesty and justice of the rulers and soldiers, eloberate spy network, covert action, sabotage, bravery and discipline of the soldiers, weather, terrain, forgiving and accepting surrendered enemy soldiers with dignity, brutality, our strength and weaknesses, enemies strength and weaknesses - all determines the outcome of a war. If we look at the history we can understand this. If we want our army to be the best, we need to concentrate on all these things. No army can perform miracles without these things. Just bravery of the soldiers is not enough to win a war.

In 1989, then the russians left Afghanistan, all these mujahidins were diverted to Kashmir and then whole kashmir problem became uncontrollable leading to massacres of kashmiri pandits.. If terrorism is to eradicated all the military powers have to come together on a single platform .
