Yes, long ago in 1966 -67, that is 50 year ago . I was posted as Engineering supervisor for the construction of Jetty at Hut Bay Little Andaman. I used to visit Port Blair for my official duties number of times & had to stay in Port Blair till next AVAILABLE BOAT or Ship ( M.V. Nicobar) to Little Andaman My Divisional H.Q was in Port Blair. Today I have seen some Photos of Port Blair on 'Google Maps"
Look at the 4 story concrete structure @ 040, 1.02 in video, how badly it is maintained, It is unsafe to live in
The video above surprised me that Coconut tree landscape of Port Blair is missing in video. When I was there I found the slope of Roads so steep that it was difficult to ride a bicycle..

I am from Chennai but born and raised in North East shillong..when my father got transferred to port Blair..we literally cried to leave shillong..came to our native Chennai spent some time..and boarded the ship to port Blair..from the lush green mountains of shillong to the blue oceans of Andamans..such a wonderful place..

I Visited Portblair in 1977 When my Dad was working in CPWD by TSS Nancowry Ship from Chennai.. via nicobar islands .. Stayed in Marine Hill.. Near Aberdeen bazar for 2 months.. visited Dhanikari Dam, corbins Cove etc etc.. it was during may June and it was raining heavily in the mid seas.. it was a memorable occasion .. still pleasant in my memories

I went to portblair in 1989, at that time airport was in a remote place and with lot of nature beauty. But now in 2019 it was the heart of the city, lot of vehicles carbon smokes. Slowly portblair is losing its nature beauty like other hill stations in the main-land!
No...Sir The Airport is still in the same location during 1989 it was school line now it is in Diary farm junction, just 100mtrs distance only. During period the airport was in timber building.

I left port Blair in Nov.1983. Yet I recognized model school and ganta ghar road. Please send video of light house cinema hall up Tamil sangham to quarry hill. I was 12 when we left for vizag.

I visited in 2017 ..port Blair .. Neil .. Havelock .. what a place .. true paradise.. my honeymoon was really memorable..

Brother it is under our central government. It is the main air force and naval base of India. So Modi govt strongly work in it to control China because China is very close near port Blair.

@@simsim8738 u can buy but those people are mostly setteled long back and others are central govt employees. U will not get a living there, now u can work and come back.
@mumad usman yes but rarely you can get such people. one kerala guy whose father was working there had a house there and i stayed there as he became my friend in banglore. most people go by travel agencies as difficult to find a local guy there. once u get a contact to sponsor u can go anytime and stay there like lakshadeep.

Visited Andaman Island back in June 2019. Such a wonderful and lovely place to visit. Very friendly people and tasty foods. 💕 Miss those clock tower and pretty sure that the last part is the Aquarium right!!??

Yes Like me! I m a nicobarie tribe but yeah immigrants r more there now ...and andaman group of islands are filled with them. But Nicobar group of islands are prohibiting outsiders , mainlanders from entering nicobar islands without permission. Cus it's a tribal area as per the A&N islands Protection of Aboriginal Tribes Act of 1956...Even people of India also need authorization to enter
Off course tribes r there... But compare to immigrants there no.of population are less.
