It is because we recognize these basic human rights that we have a major Abrahamic religion in the West that doesn’t take over & whole cultures & nations the way Islam does in the Middle East. I was serving as humanitarian worker during Lebanon war 2006 and as a Christian I really struggle about Christians must support Israel. A bomb was dropped by Israel 200 meter from me while I was distributing relief goods for Lebanese coming across to Syria then. I also know there are Christian humanitarian workers struggle with this issue. Now that I worked more with Christian of different denominations outside of the influence of US churches in different countries in South and East Asia and I realised this is not so and this video just confirmed it is just a US evangelical thing.

Satisfactory Bagelfreund That's exactly the issue with their mindset I have a problem with. Well, there are a few, but that's a primary one. If an event is prophesied to happen, God shouldn't need you acting on his behalf to make it happen. It's supposed to just happen naturally on it's own. To think you have to make it happen shows that you don't find the prophecy credible enough on it's own, not to mention it also means you're trying to manipulate god's will to your own ends, which is egotistical at best and potentially blasphemous at worst.

I don't disagree but the most reasonable perspective on the Israel/Palestine conflict is one that doesn't take sides at all. In the first couple decades of this conflict, we can look back and see that Israelis were a bit more at fault than Arabs (but Arab nationalism was also an vs incredibly inflexible ideology and shares some blame.) But at this point? Things have changed. The balance of power and the moral balance have both shifted quite a bit. I question anyone who sees either side as totally "in the right"

All I can say is that i've visited Israel, travelled through Jerusalem , the west bank, all of it, and I never experienced the kind of hospitality I got in Palestinian run accommodations. I remember staying in Bethlehem, and saying happy birthday to a friend on the trip in the lobby that morning, when we got home in the evening for dinner the owner took a huge birthday cake out during dinner - he had heard me say happy birthday and literally went out and bought a cake for us! It was that level of just human compassion. Seeing bomb debris, signs strung up in the west bank with missing peoples faces on them and details of how these people were tortured and murdered, with the only justice their families can hope to get is to canvas this info and hope that somebody sees it. Broke my heart. You see all this, and in amongst it the Palestinian people doing day to day things, people shopping, kids playing. Just the resilience was like nothing ive ever seen.

In fact it's detrimental to their image, their relationships with dozens of countries, their credibility, their economy and security. And that the "it's in America's interest" line is a talking point that groups like AIPAC spread. As a devout Christian myself, it's very painful to see Evangelicals butchered The Revelation to Apostle John so grossly to apply it to their beliefs and agenda. I definitely cringed hard by the time he mentioned Russia, Iran, Turkey, and especially Ethiopia. The Revelation is never been taught in most of the history of Christianity to be taken as a "doomsday code", but a good news of hope for Christians in particular.
Of those 4 countries Ethiopia is actually the only one to exist in a form even close to its modern form in biblical times.
