    Another great project. Thank you for sharing. I love the color scheme!

    Looks like a reaction between colors…turquoise and yellow. I think it adds to the piece.

      Hi Sherry. Well spotted. There is a slight reaction, but that's not what I was talking about. It was a missing piece of yellow that Kristy mentioned. It would have balanced the colours better. Though I never even thought about the reaction you mentioned. You have a great eye for detail. 👍

    Great project to test my cutting skills, Great way to utilise larger scrap pieces. Agree that another piece of yellow would have balanced the piece, however if just using scrap anything that comes together will do. Cheers another fun project for me to try 😀

      Yes, great for that scrap. I fight being OCD, always looking for balance. Developing software for years makes you a bit like that. Now I try to embrace imperfect as well.

    I love the choice and 4 mm of clear to give less dark colors.
    Any particular reason you boron nitride molds instead of using kiln wash?

    • @RocketRoseArt
      @RocketRoseArt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Stephanie. Mainly because it's easier. I know it's more costly, but my experiences with wash, having to dry, fire, repair, clean from pieces etc weren't nice so I opted for the easier path.

    I think you needed a third yellow piece of glass, am I right?

    • @RocketRoseArt
      @RocketRoseArt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Kristy. Yes, spot on. I really didn't think anyone would notice. It would have added a bit more balance, being such a dominant colour.

    Very nice Jeff. I have been curious for awhile now, have you made a multi- layered bowl in the past or plan on one in the future? I’ve watched almost all your videos & have gotten some really great ideas. Thank you so much.

    • @RocketRoseArt
      @RocketRoseArt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jim. What do you mean by multi-layered? Do you mean just more than 2 layers of glass? I say more than 2 as most pieces are 2 x 3 mm layers. The video coming up this week is a sculpture that has multiple layers of glass, though it isn't a bowl. Would love to know more about what you're thinking. Always looking for ideas for videos.

      I can’t actually explain what I’m thinking of doing, since I can’t “think” three dimensional but as you made this bowl, I’m leaning towards a similar piece but in opaque glass.

    • @jimgreene4923
      @jimgreene4923 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeff, the best I can explain the type of glass piece I’m seeking is, the word is “ smooshed” glass, which I saw on someone else’s video. I’m dealing with a retirement community standards when it comes to my glass projects, but that better explains what I’m attempting to do.

      @@jimgreene4923 I get when you say it's hard to explain. This one on simulated turquoise is in a way 3D opaque. th-cam.com/video/iY5kJiagBiA/w-d-xo.html It could be made thicker if you use dams around it. The pattern goes all the way through.

    Very nice. How did you select that overall shape since the slump looks to be nicely deep? Thanks.

    • @RocketRoseArt
      @RocketRoseArt  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Nancy. The shape is just the same shape as the mould. And I used that mould because the one I asked everyone to vote on was that shape. This one just a little bigger. Plus I wanted a deeper bowl to raise the sides better for viewing. I know you could make a different shape for that mould and it would work, but I wanted to keep the high sides all round. Hope that explains.

    Great video as usual Jeff! Can clear power coating also make a piece food safe versus a puece of clear glass? Thanks. Steve

    • @RocketRoseArt
      @RocketRoseArt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's an excellent question. I read somewhere that you can do that, but as the chemicals do leech into adjacent glass I assume you would need a thick layer. Wish I could find that article again. I think it was on the Bullseye website. Remember, not all colours are a problem (though a lot are), and the transparent version if those colours leech less than the opal version.

    Hi Jeff, I enjoy all your videos. I'm wondering if you ever paint e.g. using glass powder, paints or enamels on your fused glass. If so can you recommend any brands or suppliers, here in Australia? Cheers Carolyn

    • @RocketRoseArt
      @RocketRoseArt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Carolyn. I used enamels from Glassfusing.com.au, but they don't have COE 90 glass anymore. For Bullseye COE 90 glass try Blue Dog Glass, Art Glass Studio or Australian Stained Glass Supplies. Stock is low at the moment, but they have some colours.

    • @carolynmartin5336

      @@RocketRoseArt Thanks for your prompt reply Jeff, I use both 96 and 90, but mostly Bullseye which I buy from Stained Glass Supplies. So I will check what they have. Incidentally, I just bought some coloured decal paper from Glassfusing having just watched your latest video. I am looking forward to playing around with it. Cheers Carolyn.
